SNOW DRIVE in ICELAND 2015| ICELAND ROAD TRIP | ADVENTURES OVERLAND

Visit our website & Join Us

Austere yet benign, shadowy yet luminous, a land where opposites converge; the land of fire and ice - it’s Iceland. This extraordinary northern destination has long been beckoning adventure-seekers with its signature vigorous grandeur, that puts all our little issues and the lives we lead around them in perspective.

Iceland has been blessed with the ability to turn the commonplace into the exceptional, and with apparent ease. What others assume to be a mere dip in the pool will turn into a geothermal soak. A casual night time camping escapade might end up in you basking in the glory of one of nature’s most amazing spectacles, the Aurora Borealis. A seemingly innocuous walk on pristine ice will transform into an exhilarating trek across a glacier. And it will all happen when you are in the Nordic haven that’s Iceland.

Watch this amazing video of our First Ever Self-Drive Expedition in ICELAND in 2015 by 25 INDIANS who drove 4 x 4 Monster Trucks on 2nd Biggest Glacier of Europe, drove up on the Volcano's Sand, Snowmobiled in Thunderstorm and much more!!

Iceland | 4x4 Travel Through the Land of Fire & Ice | X Overland Nordic Series EP8

After arriving at Torfi’s cabin in the middle of a dark and stormy night, the team begins to plan their route into Iceland’s interior via the F Roads with local legend, Torfi Johannsson, and his one-of-a-kind 1991 Toyota Hilux. Clay gives a rundown on this 4x4 ready truck with 42 tires, solid rear axle, and 80's series Landcruiser front suspension system.

Clay makes a costly mistake while fleet manager Tanner has his work cut out for him. Deep, powerful river crossings, amazing Icelandic camps shared with local overlanders, wayward motorcycle travelers in need of help--it’s all in Episode 8 of The Nordic Series. #xoverland #iceland #overlanding #offroad

Off the Beaten Path: Iceland

Iceland is not a destination; it is an adventure. It has been topping the charts of many traveller’s bucket list since it burst onto the scene as Lonely Planet’s Top Country to visit in 2012. And four years on, it is still a dream destination for most people! Boasting spectacular landscapes, geothermal hot springs,
cascading waterfalls, dancing northern lights and glacier lagoons, planning a trip to Iceland can get quite daunting with so much on offer.

Every single day spent in Iceland was better than the last one. On one of the days, we drove for 5 hours straight through an absolutely white terrain towards an isolated mountain hut. Nobody in the group had ever seen so much snow ever in their lives. It was surreal, it was like a scene out of a movie, Red trucks driving through pure white snow as far as the eye could see.

Our Expedition to Iceland was as memorable, exciting, adventurous, snowy and thrilling as the first two! A group of Adventure Seekers from all over India got together with us and landed in Reykjavik. On this unique expedition to Iceland, the participants sat behind the wheel of modified 4WD vehicles which are specially designed for use in rough environments, in the mountains, on glaciers and in the desert. These vehicles are normally used by rescue teams, military units and police forces.

Born from the fiery womb of the earth, and shaped by glaciers, tempests, and swells, Iceland bears a likeness to the earth when it was young - a boisterous spirit, untamed and running wild. Combining the inhospitable plains of the central highlands with moss-adorned river canyons and massive ice sheets, Iceland is the crown jewel of our planet’s rich treasures.

Flying a drone in Iceland:
Please be aware that restrictions on flying drones in Iceland apply. As an example, flying in national parks requires you to obtain a license. Read more about that here: If you intend to fly a drone in Vatnajökull National Park, make sure to apply through

Please understand, that we obtained such a permit to shoot in Vatnajökull National Park. In general, be mindful of other visitors and do not disturb their experience by flying a drone directly above their heads. This is both dangerous and extremely ignorant. Don’t be this guy.

Real Talk:
Despite our attempt at keeping our Iceland Travel Documentary as authentic as possible, you are still watching a highlight reel. When editing, we naturally tend to choose the most exciting clips. What you don’t see are the hours spent driving through less spectacular landscapes or some of the challenges we faced.

Full Disclosure:
This trip was entirely self-funded. However, we participated in two complimentary whale-watching tours with North Sailing.

ICELAND overland expedition / one of the best trip of my life

one of the most beautiful trips of our life

the JEEP RUBICON was prepared and built by myself with 180 hours of work.

We use OZIEXPLORER for nagivation.
The navigation preparation is done months before and is decided day by day.

OFFROAD is prohibited in Iceland, respect the tracks and trails.
Nature is very fragile. there are enough technical places ands trails to please you.
If you want real OFFROAD and speed: I recommend North Africa.

Iceland is a young and wild land. make sure that other people can still visit it after you

The last frontier draws Expedition Overland back to discover what’s within as the seven-man team overlands and adventures through the wild landscapes of Alaska. Two newly built Tacomas and a 5th gen 4Runner, lead the convoy with a crew of the young and the young-at-heart.
The return to this vast and breathtakingly beautiful landscape fulfills a long-time goal for Clay Croft, made even sweeter as his 16-year-old son, Cyrus, is part of the crew. Along with Cyrus, @EFRT Dan and Peter join this crew as well along with Tanner, Ryan Connelly, and a new face with some stories and skills to share. It’s safe to say that no expedition member will come back from this one the same!

- ABOUT US -
Hi! We are Pooja & Shravan, an illustrator-engineer duo from Bangalore brought together by the love of travel and adventure.

We have traveled together since the winter of 2016. On one such trip, we started documenting these travels on a humble phone camera. We soon realised that we really enjoy capturing these experiences. We are entirely self taught (students of the internet) and have learnt from binging on brilliant creators over the years.

In our videos you might find glimpses of places that are not spoken about enough. We always vouch for spots that are somewhat the underdogs. Our vlogs are sometimes vlog-ish and sometimes a documentation of the place as we see it. We hope that watching these videos will bring a little dose of joy to your day.

We love reading your comments and hearing your thoughts.
They motivate us and help us steer our creative path.

With love,
Pooja & Shravan

The End of our Nordic Journey | Travel Through Iceland | X Overland Nordic Series EP10

This journey is far from over. Receiving an invitation they can't pass up, the team pushes to the south east of Iceland meeting with an exceptional team for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. But not before stopping by a unique location with some familiar characteristics to home in Montana.

Cyrus and Clay enjoy some final moments of bonding together as father and son, while Cy considers all he learned as a teenager by traveling the world with the team.

Spending our remaining days of the expedition touring through the geologic wonders of Iceland, it has become apparent to us all that there’s a lot happening both beneath the surface of the earth and within ourselves.

Travel with the team for the final days of our Icelandic adventure, and join us for our last night in camp. (Be sure to watch to the very end...)
It’s all in Episode 10, the Nordic Series season finale! #xoverland #iceland #nordic
