5 BEST COUNTRIES to Retire comfortably at low cost

Get World Class VPN service for less than $3/month: - Save 77%! 30-day money back guarantee! If you use your computer on any public Wifi, or don't want to be censored from websites because of your geographic location, then this is a must.

This is part 2 of a video I made 2 years ago: -- Many of you asked for a follow up.
Take a trip to 5 beautiful countries to live in! I looked at 38 countries, and analyzed them based on the following criteria: total cost, healthcare, entertainment, safety, and the ease of getting a visa. Max budget $1750/month.

Which countries of the world are affordable, enjoyable, safe, and have good health care, and are friendly for expats? I break down the pros and cons of living in the best countries on an income UNDER $2000 per month — and I even provide realistic budgets.
0:00 - Ranking Criteria

12:15 - RO
15:41 - ES
I made a prior video looking at the cheapest countries to retire in for $1000/month. A lot of you asked for a follow up looking at higher budget, and better countries. So I looked at 38 countries that repeatedly show up on many lists of the best countries to live and retire in.

IT
Surrounded on three sides by the Mediterranean sea lends it a mild climate year-round. Milan, Rome, Florence, and Naples are some of the best cities. Even the smallest towns have cafes. Coffee is around $1 a cup, pasta dishes are about $10. Beer and wine start at around $5 a glass

Italy’s crime rate is only one-fifth of America’s. The national health service in Italy, Servizio Sanitario Nazionale (SSN), provides residents — including expats — with free or low-cost healthcare. Private health insurance is around $100 a month.

Italy's visa requirements for non-EU citizens are strict. You may be required to prove you have a certain level of income or savings to be given a residence visa. check this with an Italian consulate in America before moving.

PA
Panama offers the same lush tropical climate as the best latin american countries for less money. Most American expats move to Panama City, which may be the most modern city in Central America. You’ll find many people who speak English here.

The country’s overall crime rate is about 10 percent lower than the USA. A big reason Panama made it on this list is its visa and residency programs are welcoming to US citizens through the “Friendly Nations” visa. And the country doesn’t tax income earned outside its borders.

Medical care is very cheap: $3 doctor visits, $5 specialist visits, and outpatient procedures for as little as $30. Health insurance ranges from $80 to $200+ per month.

PT
One of the safest, friendliest and most affordable countries in Western Europe. Your expenses will be about one third that in the U.S. Temperate climate, quality healthcare and high safety ratings are hard to beat.

Lisbon will be one of the most expensive places to live in Portugal. Much lower costs are in smaller cities like Castelo de Vide or Peniche. You can rent a 2 bedroom villa here for about $600 per month.

Beer is about $2, espresso is $1, dinner for 2 for about $40. Portugal is the 4th safest country in the world. It has universal health coverage through its SNS national health service. Private health insurance for two people is $80-$150 per month.

The best option for immigrating may be through the D7 visa program. This requires you to show that you have sufficient income for a 12 month stay, or about $13,000 for a couple.

RO
Romania has a temperate climate, like the US Midwest. Its largest city Bucharest, offers a blend of Old-World charm and modern luxury.

You can get a one-bedroom flat for less than $500 a month. Transylvania is home to Dracula’s Castle. Romania’s overall crime rate is about half of America’s.

Romania has free public health care for its citizens. Expats need to contribute to the social security system for at least six months to be eligible. Private insurance is $80-$90 per month.

Residence is easy for people with EU citizenship, but stricter for US citizens. Check with a Romanian consulate in the US.

ES
Spain has great weather, great food and wine, and beaches, and climate like California’s.

Madrid and Barcelona attract the most expats. A one-bedroom apartment rents for less than $800. In outlying towns, you can find a whole house for that rate. Beer and wine are about $5 a glass, and a nice dinner is $20.

Spain is a much safer country than the US. Its rate of violent crime is one-fifth that in the US.

Spain has free health care for all workers who make social security payments. If you’re earning your income outside of Spain, you’ll need to carry private health insurance which is $120-$250 a month, depending on coverage.

Because Spain is part of the EU, check with your Spanish embassy before going there.

Podgorica Montenegro Expat Life on €1500 a Month. Indian Expat Couple Quality of Life Cost of Living

Today we visit with an Expat couple from India living their dream of owning a home and land in Europe, they found their paradise in Podgorica the capital city of the country of Montenegro. They decided on Montenegro by accident when they were locked down in 2020, they had to extend their stay and fell in love with Montenegro. We'll discuss their budget, experiences, as well as view their home and land, With Montenegro's lower than the European average cost of living, Montenegro is a potential landing spot for foreigners, expats and retirees on a typical US Social Security budget.

Due to the restrictive rules of the Schengen Montenegro is becoming more and more popular for Investors and Expats from America, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa, & the United Kingdom seeking a home in Europe. The Schengen Agreement has and continues to ruin the dreams for millions around the world seeking to slow travel through Europe. Gone are the days of crossing from Spain to France and resetting your passport clock in a neighboring country. If your country is not a member of Schengen you have to look at the 26 Schengen countries as one, an American can only spend 90 days out of 180 days between all 26 countries. Montenegro and a handful of European countries including the UK are options to live in to reset your Schengen clock. If you’re an American, Canadian, Australian, New Zealander, or from South Africa a Non-Schengen country like Montenegro should be in consideration for your investment budget. Even if you’re not choosing residency in Montenegro, it’s a great place to live 90 out of 180 days if you need to leave the Schengen. There are some residency options available through a few Schengen countries, but most of these require €250,000-€1,000,000 invested in or paid to the country. Italy has some options that are vaguely written and subjective to local decisions that can be inconsistent. To us Montenegro is the easiest and possibly most cost effective options available if Europe residency is desired.

We bought our home in Kotor Montenegro in 2016, we were enchanted by this medieval city from first sight. With the low cost of living, Mediterranean climate, UNESCO Heritage designation, and it's popularity as a tourist destination for Eastern Europeans and the British it made perfect sense to buy here. As we travel Europe over the next 5 to 10 years we will be using our home in Montenegro as our home base, rest assured our journey is not ending.

The 6 Best English-Speaking Countries You Can Retire To

Many are reluctant to move abroad because they fear they won’t be able to learn a new language or simply don’t want to. Kathleen and Lief share 6 countries where English is spoken so you can take this point off your list of reasons not to move overseas. Below you can find the countries recommended and the timestamps:

1:04. Belize. Formerly a British colony, Belize’s official language is English. Here, people are welcoming, open-minded, and eclectic. Plus, the country offers excellent residency programs.

3:19. Ireland. The people of Ireland are very friendly and open-minded. If you want to retire here, you do have to consider the weather. Also, residency is harder to obtain compared to other countries.

6:15. Malta. Malta is also a former British colony and therefore, its official language is English. The country has four residency programs and it’s conveniently located in the middle of the Mediterranean making it a great base for travel.

7:57. Playa del Carmen, Mexico. If you want a Caribbean lifestyle with the amenities of a 5-star resort, Playa del Carmen might be for you. Here, the infrastructure is well developed and there are all sorts of activities you can do.

9:49. Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. This is the most developed choice on the Pacific coast. The weather is similar to the one in Southern California. A plus of Mexico is the easy residency options and the closeness to the U.S.

11:50. The Algarve, Portugal. Although it might be beneficial to learn some Portuguese, English is widely spoken in this area and you can get by with just English. The towns in Algarve are affected by seasonality, so you do need to research how winter affects each town. Overall, it’s a great option that checks all the boxes for retirees, including easy residency.
