Hello Friends,
In this video, i will go to visit Ravana Secret Cave in Srilanka which is located in Ella. Ella is 73 kms away from Nuwara Eliya. I came by train from Nuwara eliya to Ella which took me 3 hours to reach.
This is the cave where Ravana used to live and has also kept Sita in custody in this Mahal. Ravana is described in the Hindu epic Ramayana as the great king of Lanka which also comprises of Meghnath ( Indrajit ), Kumbhkaran, Sughriv, Bali, Vibhishan, Angad, and many others. Ravana is described as having been a great devotee and follower of Shiva, a great scholar, a capable ruler and a maestro of the Veena, but someone who wished to overpower the Devas.
There are no tickets to watch this cave although some people will force you to take unauthorized tickets to enter this cave.
Ravana cave is located near to Ravana falls where Sita used to take bath.
Going to Ravana cave is quite difficult and tiring task as this cave is located in mountains and you have to walk right upto the hill to enter this cave. You have to do trekking of almost 3 kms to reach this cave. This cave is itself very scary and i went alone to this cave. It was horrifying

The Ravana Cave is located 2 kilometres outside of Ella town and lies 1370 metres above sea level. It is one of the most important tourists attractions with an historical value in Ella. The history of the Ravana cave is that King Ravana used this cave to hide the Princess Sita. If you are interested in the Sri Lankan history, and you’re ready to climb some stairs to see this cave, then you definitely must check out the Ravana Cave! It is definitely one of the fun activities to do in Ella, Sri Lanka. Find all the information you need to know about the Ravana Cave in this blog post.
How to get to Ravana Cave Ella
Ravana Cave is located 2 kilometres outside of Ella town and lies 1370 metres above sea level. The climb up to the Ravana Cave is a steep path which is quite tough with about 650 uneven steps. Some places have broken or no steps at all, just steep rocks. The last few meters are the toughest because you have to climb up the rocks without anything to hold on. Therefore the climb is not recommended for the elderly. But the view you get from the top is just incredible and so impressive!
About Ravana Cave
The Ravana cave consists of a part of the tunnel which is connected to the Ravana Falls in Ella. Tales say that King Rama of India had a beautiful wife, Queen Sita. He kidnapped Queen Sita, brought her to Sri Lanka and hide her in the Ravana caves. The tunnels served as a quick way of transportation through the hills and also as a secret passage. They connect with all the important cities, airports and dairy farms in Sri Lanka. A closer look at these tunnels indicates that they are man-made and not just natural formations. The architectural details of these tunnels prove the brilliant way of building of King Ravana.
Existing tunnel mouths are situated in lsthripura at Welimada, Ravana cave at Bandarawela, Senapitiya at Halagala, Ramboda, Labookelle, Wariyapola / Matale and seetha kotuwa / Hasalaka. In addition, there are many more tunnel openings. This most prominent ramayana site can be accessed by turning off 3km from Ella on Wellawaya road. Then Go up 2km to Ravana Ella temple. Trek uphill about 2km.
What to expect at Ravana Cave Ella
Once you have conquered the 650 steps, you’ll arrive at the historical Ravana Cave. The cave itself is pretty small, just to make your expectations realistic. You are allowed to go inside of the cave for only 200 meters. After those 200 meters there is a big stone that has been kept by the Government prohibiting people from going further inside. The view from the cave is impressive and if you like history and a little adventure, this is a great thing to do in Ella!
Legends
Excavations in this ancient cave showed human occupancy reaching back to 20,000 BC. The cave is 1,370 meters (4,490 feet) above sea level and is 50 feet wide, 150 feet long, and 60 feet high. The cave is also said to be linked to the Dowa Rock Temple cave near Badulla. The network of caverns and tunnels is entirely man-made, connecting all major cities and serving as quickly hidden passageways through the mountains. Ravana Falls, a 25-meter waterfall, is located behind the cave (Ravana Ella). During the wet season, the magnificent waterfall is one of the widest in Sri Lanka. Princess Sita is supposed to have bathed in a pool of water accumulated by the waterfall. Ella has the clearest connection and linkage to the Ramayana epic events that occurred so long ago – Hindus having great faith in the legend encircling the prehistoric monarch Ravana.
The underground passageway A modest notice board indicates the turn off to the Sita Cave, said to be the dwelling of the princess in the Ramayana, as you go from Ella on the Wellawaya road. The tunnel underneath the ground As you go from Ella on the Wellawaya road, a tiny notice board announces the turnoff to the Sita Cave, thought to be the princess’s residence in the Ramayana.
Today that Ravana cave could be visited after a short hike of around 500 meters. Other caves with similar colorful legends have revealed far more scientifically important information regarding early human habitation of the country, the Sita cave might be such a treasure trove given that it is geologically a medium sized structure which would have been easily capable of sheltering several dozen primitive humans, long before the arrival of Sita. There might be little sign of Sita inside its dark hollows, but the cave named for the Indian princess offers a wonderful hike through shrub forests with some great views of the Ella Gorge along one of its precipices.

Ravana Cave & Nil Diya Pokuna In Ella, Srilanka - Thrilling Experience [English Subtitles]

Ravana Cave is around 3 km from Ella Town, in Badulla district, Srilanka. It is a 1 km walk from the main road, where the steps begin. Cars can go on this road. You will have to get a ticket for entering that costs 150 lkr.
There are about 650 steps, leading to the entrance of the cave, so I walked slowly resting at a few places. The view was good and there weren't many tourists.
I reached the cave and went inside, It was dark and smelled of bats. I went inside to the end... Had to crouch at some places and go... The end of the tunnel was closed due to mud fall. There was nothing much to see. There were nests built by the Bats. The view of the cave entrance from the inside looked amazing. So after I walked around for a bit and I came out, came down to the ticket counter and had a talk with the small shop owner near the ticket counter.
The history is that King Ravana, who abducted Sitha ( wife of Lord Rama) kept her in this main cave for a while. Later she was taken to Sitha Ella, which is near Nuwara Eliya. There is a sitha temple there.
The main Ravana cave was connected to Sitha Ella, 65 km from the main Ravana cave, Doha Temple, 7 km from the cave ( a Buddhist temple between Ella and bandarawella), and Nil Diya Pokuna, which I will be going to next.
I got the contact details of the guide who was going to take me to nil Diya pokuna and talked to him. He asked me to come past the Ravana falls. He was waiting for me, he took me to a place called karanthakolla, which was a small village, around 10 to 15 km from the Ravana falls.
We walked for about a kilometer in the forest and came to the cave's entrance. The cave Nil Diya Pokuna is an underground cave and its entrance was a hole in the ground.
I was given head torchlight, and there was a rope to support my descent into the cave. After 10 feet decent there was another hole which was much smaller where I had to get down. My guide got down first. There was a ladder to support the decent and also we could use the ropes.
From there it was dark and it was a rough terrane where we had to walk slowly crouching at places because the gap or path was much smaller.
There were so many insects flying around because of the beam from the torchlight.
I had to sit in many places because I was tired and had to gasp for air. I guess because there was less oxygen in the cave, I couldn't breathe properly and that's the reason I got more tired.
It was a 400 meter decent of walking and crouching and jumping.
Finally, I came to the end of the tunnel. The was a pool here. The water was clear, fresh, and amazing.
I had this urge to swim in that freshwater. The guide told me the water was deep. Yes, it was 50 meters deep. I had a nice swim.
The place is completely dark. The only light we have is the torchlight.
So my suggestion would be that only if you know swimming, get into the water.
I think the water here is not stagnant because it was so clear and fresh. There had to be a movement or water current somewhere.
It was a great amazing experience swimming in the water.
We once again retrieved our way back to the top.
Things you can take while you go to this cave -
A small water bottle
A small towel (you'll be sweating)
A lot of ENERGY
You should go to the Ravana cave first and then come to Nil Diya Pokuna if you wish to visit both places on the same day.
The Time for Ravana cave approx might be 1.5 to 2 hours
The time needed for nil Diya pokuna would be 3 to 3,5 hours.

RAVANA CAVE GUFA IN ELLA ,SRILANKA - Sri Lanka Travel Guide ????????
The Ravana Cave is located about 2 km from the Ella town and 11 km (7 mi) away from Bandarawela. It is quite a small cave, measuring about 50ft wide, 150ft long and 60ft high. History says that the cave is used by King Rawana to hide the Princess Sita.
The cave lies 1,370 m (4,490 ft) above sea level on the foundation of a cliff, and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Sri Lanka with a historical value.

Hello Friends,
In this video, i have again went to Bisrakh village to see secret cave or gufa of Ravan in temple that was bulit by Ravan's father Vishrawa. In ramayan, vishrawa is said to be grandson of Lord Brahma.
There is also shiv lingam which is of red color in this shiv prachin temple that you will find. This shivlingam is very special and its said to be lakhs of years old. Since Vishrawa and Ravan both used to pray here as they were both Lord Shiv bhakts.
Ravan is famous character of Ramayan where lord ram appeared as avatar of Lord Vishnu to end the wrongdoings of Ravan. Vishrawa has 4 sons, ravan was eldest, kumbhkaran, vibhishan, sarupnakha.
This shivlingam was also tested by archaeological survey of india and it is founded to be 8 lakh years old.
Shivlingam that is present in this temple has 8 arms and this type of shivlingam is only present in Ujjain in mahakaleshwar in India which has 8 arms.
This temple also has one secret cave, gufa that goes underground and is said to be one of the oldest gufa, You will also find Kuber and his wife and vishrawa in this temple.
About Bisrakh, Bisrakh is a village 10 km away of Greater Noida, in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. During the Dussehara festival, which celebrates Rama's victory over Ravana, effigies of Ravana are burnt in several parts of India. However, in Bisrakh, the nine days of Navratra ending in Dassehara are observed as a period of mourning when they offer prayers for peace to the soul of Ravana and perform Yagna. According to mythology, Vishravas, a Brahmin, had wedded Kaikesi, a rakshasa princess; Ravana thus had a mix of Brahmin and rakshasa

How to Get Here
First, come to Maha Ravana Viharaya and Ravana Cave is just 1km away from there, climb up the steep path that led towards the cave. The climb is quite tough with about 650 steps - uneven steps, many of them are quite steep; some places had no steps at all - just on steep rocks.
The last few feet are the toughest as one had to climb up without anything to hold on.
The cave-in itself is not very impressive to someone who has very high expectations. Mainly because it is a tough climb and once you reach the place you will only see a small cave.
If you like to explore historical places in Sri Lanka and admire the Ravana History, then this is definitely a place to visit.
