GillumD&L 2025 Pipes -Queen Mother Funeral

We are using 2025 to group all the videos relating to Pipes & Drums, and the HCSO (Hamilton County Sheriff Office, Cincinnati, Ohio) and LCPD (Lee County Pipes and Drums, Ft. Myers, Florida) and other pipe and drum videos. These are all from our personal video recordings or from TV broadcasts for which there were no recording restrictions that we know of. Most videos are from an iPhone or a Canon PowerShot so the video quality, especially inside or in low light is not as good as I would hope for. Some performances were shortened to stay within the 15 minutes YouTube Video limit. s

Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother Visits The Bowes Museum - September 1976

Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother visited the Bowes Museum in September 1976 to open the Queen Elizabeth Gallery of Costume. I remember my grandfather telling me to 'get down there and film her as she might not have long to go'. The Queen Mother had just passed her 76th birthday and, as we now know, lived to be 102.
Barnard Castle Band provided the music on the day. The style of commentary followed that of news reports of the day - reporting on members of the Royal Family focused on where they were, the reason for their visit and what they were wearing - hence the comment on the Queen Mother's hat and dress. TV news may even have provided the name of the designer!
Filmed on Super 8mm by Adrian Ball with 'live' sound recorded on a Philips portable cassette tape recorder that was later dubbed onto the film. Film provided by Adrian Ball.
ABP restore, preserve and archive images of Teesdale captured on film by amateur filmmakers on home movie or video. Before the advent of video cameras and recorders private holiday and family footage was captured on home movie using 8mm, 9.5mm or 16mm film. Such footage can often contains scenes of day-to-day life and activities that have changed during the intervening years. It may also contain images of buildings long since demolished and collectively form a visual historical record of the past which, if not properly preserved is in danger of being lost.
