Subbanna family is engaged in serving vegerarian eatery in Melukote for more than 100 years the legacy carried forward. A temple town in Mandya district very famous for iyengar style of food. The famous dishes here are melkote puliyogare, sakkare pongal, Ksheeranna(rice made of milk) which is served on banana leaf.

Melukote in Pandavapura taluk of Mandya district, Karnataka, in southern India, is one of the sacred places in Karnataka. The place is also known as Thirunarayanapuram. It is built on rocky hills, known as Yadugiri, Yaadavagiri and Yadushailadeepa, overlooking the Cauvery valley. Melukote is about 51 km (32 miles) from Mysore and 133 km (83 mi) from Bangalore.

A day trip to Melkote meant abundance of countryside, ponds - both man-made and natural, lakes, birds, temples, puliyogare and curd rice for lunch and an afternoon siesta by the Kalyani ( man-made pond) and still be back in Bangalore by nightfall!!

Team Tummy On Fire's pitstop 4 in our food journey had arrived to Melkote,Mandya district in hunt of food. We visited temple and sought blessings from lord cheluvanarayana sway which is a famous temple in Melkote. We went on search for authentic Iyengar Brahmin cuisine dishes like puliyogre and sakkara pongal, then we arrived at Sri Annapurneshwari Mess which is near by temple. Tangy and authentic Puliyogre and the best lipsmacking Sakkara Pongal is available in this place. Not only these but you also get Dose and meals over here for lunch. Expecially weekends is really crowded in this place and you can have some amazing unlimited meals here on weekends. A must visit place in melkote and we had an amazing time here after our complete tour in melkote. We really relished amazing delicacies here and carried some ready made products like papads and pickles. They also sale Puliyogre Gojju to make the same delicious puliyogre at home.
