We recorded this 4k ultra hd video during our trip to Positano, Italy on October 2021.
Positano, also known as “the pearl of the Amalfi coast” or vertical city, is a cliffside village located on the Amalfi Coast to the South of Italy. The village became a wealthy market port of the Amalfi Republic from the 15th to 17th century and has only continued to grow in popularity over time. By the mid-nineteenth century, however, the town had fallen on hard times. More than half the population emigrated, mostly to America.
Positano was a relatively poor fishing village during the first half of the twentieth century. It began to attract large number of tourists in the 1950s, especially after John Steinbeck published his essay about Positano in May, 1953.
The town's rapid growth from a small fishing village to an international destination is credited to the rise of the tourism industry.
Our guided walking tour is about 2.5 miles (4 km) long and covers most attractions and historic sites of Positano.

Beautiful Tour of Positano, Italy in 4K
This just may be the most beautiful walk you've ever seen. This was filmed on September 22nd, 2018. The walk begins high up on the hill and walks down the Viale Pasitea to the beaches below. There are captions mainly during Part 1 of this walk. The rest of the walk only has a few captions. During this video you will walk past the villas of Positano as well as Positano's luxury hotels. I filmed the walk using a Gopro Hero 7. The audio was recorded using Roland CS-10EM In-ear Monitors connected to an H1 Zoom mic. ????For an even more immersive experience, be sure to put on your headphones and listen in 3D audio.

My family and I first arrived in Italy on September 11th, 2014. We have been living here six years now and our favorite place to go swimming is Positano. The kids like that the pebbly beach and cool clear water. This walk was not part of the original plan of the day. The first evidence of a settlement in Positano dates back to Prehistory, more precisely to the Upper Paleolithic in which the Grotto La Porta was frequented by peoples of gatherers and hunters.
Despite the tradition linked to the myth of the Sirens, there is no news regarding a Greek presence on the coast of Positano.
The first archaeological evidence dates back to the 1st century. BC, when luxurious Roman villas were built on the coast of the Sorrento Peninsula. In Positano, one occupied the bay and the other extended on the island of the Long Rooster, a typical example of how even more hidden spaces of a wild coast were used in the Claudian age without even respecting the rocks that, according to legend , would have served as the home of the sirens.
Positano became a wealthy market port from the 15th to 17th century and has only continued to grow in popularity over time. Back then they traded food such as fish and other resources.
Positano was a port of the Amalfi Republic in medieval times, and prospered during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. By the mid-nineteenth century, however, the town had fallen on hard times. More than half the population emigrated, mostly to America.
Positano was a relatively poor fishing village during the first half of the twentieth century. It began to attract large numbers of tourists in the 1950s, especially after John Steinbeck published his essay about Positano in Harper's Bazaar in May, 1953: Positano bites deep, Steinbeck wrote. It is a dream place that isn’t quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone.
