OFF THE BEATEN TRACK IN THE OTWAY & GREAT OCEAN ROAD - Onwards to the Grampians | Ep 12 |

On this episode, we first stop to explore the Great Otway National Park. Our main highlights were the Hopetoun Falls and the Redwoods. We certainly didn't expect to find these giants in Australia!

We then drove along the famous Great Ocean Road. While we visited some of the main attractions like the 12 Apostles, it was definitely not our favorite part. There are so many un-signposted roads that you can drive to the end of.. like the one leading to an epic cave and inacessible beach! We plonked ourselves right at the very tip.

While we liked both of these areas, they remain very touristy, are not suitable for wild camping and there isn't much to do for us!

We didn't stay long there and decided to head to the Grampians for a week which we show you a glimpse of at the end of this video. Stay tuned for Part 2 as there is so much more to see and do in this amazing National Park than we thought!

** This episode was filmed early March **

Driving and camping on The Great Ocean Road with our dog ????

THE GREAT OCEAN ROAD with our dog!

We were really looking forward to driving the great ocean road, it’s one of those bucket list items for many people.

We were a bit unsure how we would go visiting the area with our dog Scout.

We quickly realised that almost all beaches were not dog friendly after December 1. ???? We were there just after this unfortunately.

This meant that there were quite a few beautiful looking spots we missed or only stopped for a quick look.

We headed to the lighthouse in Aireys inlet (made famous from the show ‘round the twist’) and then to Great ocean Rd mini golf. (dogs must be kept on lead)

After Chris won by a massive lead we went to the pub for lunch and a cold drink. The pub has a beautiful big outdoor area with shade, dog bowls and a friendly resident husky named Scout.

After lunch we continued on through the memorial arch to Lorne beach (dogs not allowed) and Teddys lookout, where we took in the windy views and went for a walk where we saw a blue tongue lizard!

Next up was Carisbrook waterfall which is a pretty easy walk up to the beautiful falls and back to the carpark.

We then headed inland to Beauchamp Falls camp area to camp and walked down from there to the falls (walk is about 2.5kms(some of the steps were hard for our dogs paws)

The next morning we headed to Gorge chocolates and got ourselves some yummy chocolates and a delicious White mint hot Chocolate ????

This was followed by a visit to a lookout near Port Campbell and fish and chips at Frying Nemo’s ????

We checked out Worm Bay and Boggy Creek Reserve before heading into Timboon to see the Distillery and out a bit further to Dairylicious fudge! ???? We got some ice creams at Timboon ice creamery and then headed to camp at Timboon rec reserve for the night.

We had Scout booked in with a pet sitter for day 3 but she pulled out at the last minute leaving us to scramble to make alternate arrangements. The community facebook page lead me to Kim (a lovely lady to looked after Scout for us) for the day) ????

We set off to do the 4WD track on old coach road (very easy drive along the coast) then to Gibson steps which was closed ???? It was very windy and rainy and cold weather.

We headed to the 12 Apostles Helicopter tours and treated ourselves to a flight over the coastline! OMG this was such a great experience! We got to see the 12 Apostles and london bridge through the rain ????

We returned to pick up Scout and headed to camp at Panmure free-camp before heading into Warrnambool in the morning.

All in all it was such an amazing adventure and we had a wonderful time exploring what the area had to offer!

So slip on your walking boots, we’re going for a hike.

Wild Koalas and Endless Waterfalls! | The Great Ocean Road BL7

The Great Ocean Road, arguably Victoria's most significant and talked about attraction. So there was no way we were going to miss it!
We spent a week exploring the area from the colossal coastal formations to the thick and lush rainforests and soon found out why they say you can experience four seasons in one day in Victoria. From 60km/h winds to sunny still days we experienced it all and it made the journey even more enjoyable. Now we journey across the Bass Strait to Tasmania for two and a half weeks, can't wait!

We have decided to pack our Land Cruiser and drive around Australia!
We've got 6 months to see as much of the country as we can, from Perth to Cairns, we will try and see it all.
This is by far the most adventurous thing we've ever done, so we thought we'd take our camera with us and try to capture all the thrills and spills.
Hope you enjoy!
