Poreć is picturesquely situated on a peninsula in the north of Croatia‘s Istrian coast. At first glance it appears to be a typical holiday paradise visited by thousands of tourists each year but its Town Hall offers a hint of its historic past, the traditional style of Venetian Renaissance. In 1267, Poreć, as Istria’s first city, was affiliated to the Serenissima and with the subsequent construction of palaces, squares and religious buildings, it soon took on a Venetian appearance which has remained until the present day. The harbour’s traditional buildings date back to the time of the fall of Venice and when the city came under Austrian rule. In Roman times the Old Town had an efficient road network. Poreć’s main street, Decumanus, divides various groups of buildings of dominant Gothic design. In 539 A.D. the city came under the rule of the Byzantines who founded a bishopric there in around about 800 A.D.Between 539 A.D. and 553 A.D. Bishop Euphrasius had a basilica built on the foundations of several earlier buildings, an Early Byzantine masterpiece and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Poreć is a little gem with a great history and culture and even now, Pearl Of The Adriatic!

Things To Do & Best Beaches In POREC, Croatia. Kroatien Istrien Poreč. Poreč, also known as Parenzo in Italian, has heritage from Roman, Byzantine, Venetian and Austrian eras and some of the best beaches in Croatia. Porec is charming old costal town in Istria with 2.000 years of history and rich tradition in tourism, as the first tourist guide about Porec was printed already in 1845. The reason for the long lasting popularity of Porec is its natural beauty, rich history, great beaches and favourable climate for year round outdoor sporting. The coastline gets busy in the summer when camping areas, hotel resorts, marinas and beautiful beaches are full of life. But the real magnet is this old town on a small peninsula around an ancient harbour with beautiful waterfront. POREC Video Guide
The town of Porec is perfectly situated right on the Adriatic Sea. Full of history and one of the most important UNESCO sites in Croatia, it is worth visiting for more than just a couple days. The narrow alleys are full of local restaurants, cafes and gelato. Beaches can be found throughout the area including a small island just 5 minutes away!

ISTRIA ROAD TRIP | Rovinj, Pula, and Porec - Croatia Travel Vlog
Today we are out exploring one of Croatia's most beautiful regions, Istria!
Istria is located in the north of Croatia and is known for its stunning coastline and quaint hill towns.
The first stop on our mini road trip is the city of Pula. Pula is best known for its Arena, which is one of the most well preserved amphitheater's in the world. We also enjoyed walking through the old town/Roman Forum and seeing the Temple of Augustus.
We then headed to Istria's gem, Rovinj. Rovinj is technically in Croatia but it felt like we were back in Italy! Rovinj used to be ruled by the Republic of Venice and the Italian influence is all over. There is even a direct ferry that will take you from Rovinj to Venice. A few things to enjoy while in Rovinj are strolling along the harbor, take in the views from the cathedral, explore the old town, and shop the farmer's market.
Our last stop along the coastline was the city of Porec. Porec is where we stayed for the weekend as we explored the coastline and hill towns. We mainly spent our time here relaxing by the beach.

There are several good accommodations at Zelena Laguna area of Plava Laguna. I spent here many of relaxing weeks during the last 10 years. I think, me and my family are among the most frequent guests with about twelve shorter and longer visits in the Laguna.

Our last two stops on our recent Istrian adventure were Porec and Groznjan! We loved these sweet towns so much, both with so much charm and beauty. Porec has become quite a popular destination in Croatia, and is among the top visited places in the country. Groznjan is a quaint hilltop town home to a little ove 700 residents, but it's known as the town of artists because of all of the ateliers and artists who call it home.

The Croatian coast, with its unique beauty, characteristic seaside towns, warm, sunny weather, colorful bays, lush, green vegetation, interesting historical monuments is one of the most enticing parts of the Mediterranean. The gem of this magnificent area is the Istrian-peninsula, which is, because of its proximity, one of the most beloved traveling objectives of Hungarian tourists. Its rugged coast hides beautiful bays, and beaches. From among the many sceneries stand out Porec, famous of its mosaics, Pula, with its Roman amphitheatre, Vrsas, showing us a great sight to the islands, and Opatija and Rovinj, which unify the mood of the monarchy and sight of an exclusive beach.
