He was also selected as European Landscape Photographer of the Year in 2012. Golden Rock, Myanmar [Amazing Places 4K]
The Golden Rock is one of the most important Buddhist sites in Myanmar. The huge bolder, covered with golden leaf, is balancing on the edge of a rock since antiquity. Small pagoda (Kyaiktiyo Pagoda - 7 meters/24 ft) is built on top of the boulder. The site is at elevation of 1,100 metres / 3,600 ft.
In the video: views of the rock and the Buddhist pilgrims at sunrise, sunset and after dark.

Shwedagon Pagoda, Myanmar [Amazing Places 4K]
The Shwedagon Pagoda is the most impressive and sacred Buddhist site in Myanmar. The pagoda is claimed to be 2,600 years old, but according to the historians and archaeologists it was built between 6th and 10th centuries. It has been damaged by earthquakes on several occasions and later rebuilt and raised higher, to its current height of 99 meters/325 ft.
In the video: Early morning/Sunrise and late afternoon/Sunset views of the pagoda and the surrounding temples, stupas and shrines.

ABOUT MYANMAR
Myanmar, also known as Burma, is a country located in Southeast Asia. It is bordered by Bangladesh, India, China, Laos, and Thailand. The capital city is Naypyidaw, and the largest city is Yangon (formerly known as Rangoon).
Myanmar has a population of over 54 million people, with a diverse range of ethnic groups and languages. The majority of the population practices Theravada Buddhism, but there are also significant Christian, Muslim, and Hindu communities.
Myanmar has a complex and often troubled history, including a long period of British colonial rule, multiple military coups, and ongoing conflicts with various ethnic groups. In recent years, the country has faced international criticism for its treatment of the Rohingya Muslim minority, which has resulted in a large-scale refugee crisis.
In 2021, Myanmar experienced a military coup that overthrew the democratically elected government, leading to protests and violence throughout the country. The situation remains unstable, with ongoing human rights violations and a deteriorating humanitarian situation.

Mandalay, Myanmar [Amazing Places 4K]
Mandalay was the last Royal Capital of Myanmar/Burma, founded in mid 19 century. Close to Mandalay are the remains of other royal capitals, spanning the history from early 14th century: Sagaing, Inwa (1364), Amarapura (1783). The most amazing site in the area is the great pagoda in Mingun, unfinished and later damaged by earthquake (1839).

The sunrise view from hot air balloon of thousands of temples spread in the Bagan valley is one of the most impressive views to enjoy.
Bagan was the capital of the first Myanmar (Burma) kingdom from the 9th to 13th centuries. It has the largest concentration of Buddhist temples and ruins in the world. At its highest point, the area had more than 10 thousand temples, of which less than 3 thousand remain today.

Myanmar ( Burma ) Mount Popa & Monkeys !
Mount Popa is a volcano 1518 metres (4981 feet) above sea level, and located in central Burma (Myanmar) about 50 km (31 mi) southeast of Bagan (Pagan) in the Pegu Range. It can be seen from the Ayeyarwady (Irrawaddy) River as far away as 60 km (37 mi) in clear weather. Mount Popa is perhaps best known for the nearby stunningly picturesque Popa Taungkalat monastery atop an outcrop. The Popa Taungkalat (Taung Kalat) Shrine is home to 37 Mahagiri Nats, or spirits. Statues depicting the Nats are at the base of the Shrine.
Der Mount Popa ist ein erloschener Vulkan in der Myingyan-Ebene in Zentralmyanmar, etwa 50 km südöstlich der Tempelstadt Bagan in der Mandalay-Division.
Bei einem gewaltigen Erdbeben 442 v. Chr. schob sich der Mount Popa etwa 1.000 m aus der Ebene. Die Höhe über dem Meeresspiegel beträgt 1.518 m. Die fruchtbare Vulkanerde inmitten der öden Umgebung brachte unzählige Blumen in allen Farben hervor. Vom Sanskrit-Wort für 'Blume' (Popa) erhielt der Berg seinen Namen.
Gelegentlich wird auch der 737 m hohe, südwestlich gelegene Vulkankegel Taung Kalat als Mount Popa bezeichnet. Auf dem Gipfel befindet sich die Tuyin Taung-Pagode. An und auf der hinaufführenden, überdachten Treppe leben viele Affen, die sich von den Gaben der Besucher ernähren.
Mount Popa gilt als Wohnstätte der Nats, die die Schutzheiligen Myanmars darstellen.

Inle Lake a freshwater lake located in the Nyaungshwe Township of Taunggyi District of Shan State, part of Shan Hills in Myanmar (Burma). It is the second largest lake in Myanmar with an estimated surface area of 44.9 square miles (116 km2), and one of the highest at an elevation of 2,900 feet (880 m). During the dry season, the average water depth is 7 feet (2.1 m), with the deepest point being 12 feet (3.7 m). During the rainy season, this can increase by 5 feet (1.5 m).
Inle je sladkovodní jezero ve východním Myanmaru. Nachází se v nadmořské výšce 880 metrů a s plochou 116 km2 je druhým největším jezerem Myanmaru. Je mělké, v období sucha je průměrná hloubka kolem dvou metrů. Inle je významné svou endemickou faunou, do které mimo jiné patří ryby Sawbwa resplendens, Microrasbora erythromicron a Inlecypris auropurpurea. Ekologickém problémem jezera je rozšíření invazivní rostliny tokozelka vodní hyacint a eroze způsobená odlesňováním okolních kopců. Roku 2015 zařadilo UNESCO jezero Inle do programu Člověk a biosféra. Jezero s okolím patří k nejvýznamnějším turistickým atrakcím země.
