As part of our Summer road trip, we drove from Italy to Slovenia. Instead of going directly to Ljubljana, we drove to the southwest and explored the beautiful town of Piran. We ended our day by dining next to the river in the centre of Ljubljana.

Ljubljana Food Tour with Slovenia Guides - Ljubljana, Slovenia
I was lucky enough to be invited on the Ljubljana Food Tour with Slovenia Guides. We started off with a tour of the Old Town, the fish market, the veggie market, meat market, then got to sample some delicious cheese, homemade bread, and beef tongue. Then we moved on to an old restaurant and had a big plate of meat, sausage, sour cabbage and sour turnip. Next we had some spicy goulash which was excellent, then some pasta. We visited a chocolate shop and sampled some amazing chocolates, and finished off with a traditional dessert.
Everything was so good, one of my favorite food tours of my trip! My guide told me about the restaurant in the castle, Chef Ana Roš was voted the best female chef in the world so I had to try it. That was one great day of eating for me from morning until evening. Thanks again Slovenia Guides!

The city is very clean, safe, and friendly to visit and explore. It's a magical page from a Fairy tale book with castles and fortresses and Kings and princess's.
I came here as part of my travels to live and experience this magnificent place while maintaining a $20/day meal budget. It wasn't difficult since there was an abundance of options to choose from. The people are very friendly and helpful, and English was not a problem here.

This time I decided to go to Slovenia. During my visit I drove over 3000km, My starting point was Maribor! I walked, hiked more then 50km in 9 days and climbed over 122 floor over mountains.
I have spent an incredible 9 days camping in this country, Camping is the best way to discover this beautiful country plus its affordable and most camp sites are very close to places you would want to visit.
I cant tell u how beautiful this country was ???? And it’s true! They have everything - the ocean ????, mountains ⛰, beautiful lakes and rivers ????, forests ????????, so much history, amazing architecture, delicious food ????, good climate, the country is very developed and very safe. And the best part that is small, so in one day you can be on top of a mountain and swim in the sea.

City of Ljubljana, Slovenia - top sites to visit in Ljubljana! Let's travel to Slovenia and let's visit Ljubljana which is the capital and largest city of Slovenia. Ljubljana has been the cultural, educational, economic, political, and administrative center of independent Slovenia since 1991.
We will go around the centre of the old town of Ljubljana, for a whole day, and we are going to visit the most important sites including the castle located on a hill overlooking the whole city.

Ljubljana, capitol of Slovenia, is unmistakably European, with a gentle whiff of a Mediterranean breeze.
This city at the foot of a citade,l was always a melting pot for cultural, economic, and political diversity.
It is an eagerly modern city, inching towards becoming a swank capital of the new Europe.
The city's medieval character has been slightly modified by the modern architecture. The transition to the new political system was fortuitously peaceful.
Named after the renowned Slovenian poet, the Preseren Square is still the lively pulsating heart and turning point in the historic part of town.
Architecturally and historically most significant structures are snuggled within a 2-kilometre radius of the Preseren Monument.
Simple public transportation provides for effortless accessibility. A slow train brings the sightseers comfortably to the castle hovering over the city. The ride includes crossing the centrally located Tromostovje -- a web of three bridges.
The caste dates back to the 16th and 17th centuries. From here one has a wonderful view of the city and far beyond.
A great part of the city life takes place near the river. While strolling along the Lubljanica, soundlessly flowing through the city, one should take time and wander off into the ancient streets. Booksellers, cafés and relentless saunters animate the cityscape all year round.
Street musicians, often boasting a distinctly higher quality standard as those of other world capitals, and the open market, reflect the inhabitants' cultural agility and a sense for the mercantile.
Come nightfall and Ljubljana reveals its Mediterranean charm: street cafes, restaurants and bars are always brimming with life. The din from the thronged promenades resounds through out the city.
