March Hotel in central Pattaya is a very good option with rooms from around 800-1300 baht ($25-40). This is a video from when I stayed there and it documents the room, the facilities and the surrounding area.

I call March hotel a 'Single Man's Paradise' as when I stayed there the only other guests were single guys. One night I glanced at the blue Thai IDs at the reception left by working girls and was amazed at how many there were (almost every guy had a lady at this hotel!).

Speaking with fellow guests, everyone was happy with the room, facilities and quietness of the hotel, but the only gripe was the location requires a 3 minute walk to second road or Pattaya Central road. This accounts for the relatively cheap price of the rooms, and maybe it is not ideal for Pattaya newbies.

NB: When booking this hotel you need to go through agoda for the best prices. The walk in rate is around 1600 baht ($48), I tried to extend my stay direct and staff said use agoda for the best deals. Please consider booking through the agoda links on at no extra cost to yourself.

The good, the bad and the ugly:

The good:
Clean, modern room
Quiet in the day and night
Nice big balcony (note: double rooms face the sea front, twin rooms face the back)
Excellent deals to be had through agoda
Hotel shares the same management as April and August Suites (you're in good hands)
Has a swimming pool, gym and sauna (not all 3-star hotels have these)
Cheap beer prices and nice food from room service

Bad things:
Room service finishes relatively early at 5pm
No tea or coffee provided (but there is a kettle and cups)
No 7-Eleven/Family mart on the doorstep, but there is a local convenience store on the corner
The big vacant plot of land in front will eventually be developed, possibly in mid 2018?

The Ugly:
Location is 3 minute walk down single track alleys, not good for Pattaya newbies.

Overall: I liked the March hotel and extended my stay when I was last in Pattaya. I wouldn't hesitate to book in again as it ticked a lot of the boxes I look for. The only main negative was the location with the alleyway walk. April Suites and August Suites hotels are also managed by the same company and they are good choices also in Central Pattaya.

I especially enjoyed chilling on the large balcony in the afternoon sun, while getting cold singha beers delivered for 60 baht a bottle. The room service food was above my expectations, and the gym and pool area were also good.

Additional comments:

Disclaimer: Bangkok 112 is 100% independent and has never done (and never will do) any paid promotions.

Opey de Place on Soi Lengkee Road in Pattaya is considered a very good choice for solo male travellers on a budget.

The price of the rooms is reasonable, the location is excellent (close to Soi Buakhao & LK Metro) and reviews are generally 3 to 4 stars out of 5.

My stay was good at Opey. I liked the location a lot, the room price was good and most importantly it was clean. Big fridge with a modern Sony TV were a bonus. Cheapest minibar prices I've seen with good value room service. Nice swimming pool good for socialising with your fellow solo male travellers if that's what you're into.

It's easy to see why Opey de Place gets fully booked often as it ticks a lot of boxes.

Negatives for me were that the room had an ageing guesthouse feel to it so it's definitely not a place for everyone (eg. old air conditioning unit), and there were no complimentary tea/coffee facilities provided.

No place is ever perfect, but I'd say this is a good choice of hotel as long as you are used to staying in budget accommodation.

Pattaya Hotel - Around $40 [very quiet at night]

If you are thinking of booking this or another Pattaya hotel in the $20-40 range, make sure to read this website post for more information including essential booking tips:

LK Royal Wing Hotel just off Soi Buakhao is a solid place to stay when in Pattaya. The place is clean, rooms are good value and spacious, it's guest friendly, and everything is in working order.

When I stayed the WIFI in the rooms was fast and I could watch YouTube at 720p. The rooftop swimming pool was good as you can see from the video.

The location on Soi Buakhao was good and a short walk/baht bus ride get you anywhere central fast. There are also many inexpensive bars and restaurants close by.

It's a short baht bus ride to LK Metro, Soi 6, 7, 8 and Walking Street. Moto taxis are around 40 baht to go anywhere close by.

No place is ever perfect and me being a perfectionist I found a few shortcomings:

- slightly dated hotel was a little rough around the edges
- due to the large size the aircon took a few minutes to cool the room
- to sit on the balcony you have to turn off the aircon
- shower not all that user friendly
- no 7-Eleven on the doorstep

Overall though none of the shortcomings were deal breakers and I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. I'd recommended LK Royal Wing Hotel for solo travellers who like large rooms and quiet hotels at night.

Pattaya Hotel - from only $20.50

Pattaya Hotel R-Con @ Siam - from $20.50

Overall this is one of my favourite hotels in Pattaya and in one of the best locations (for me). It was quiet and I slept very well every night and would recommend this place to solo travellers.

For more info and booking (I was quoted just 715 baht a night in August 2016 booking a couple of weeks in advance which translates to $20.50)

Additional info:

The R-con@siam Hotel located on Soi Buakhao, this visit was in October 2015.

I was a walkin customer after viewing a few other 5-600 baht rooms around LK Metro that were not so clean and were very dingy and full of mosquitos.

This hotel has been refurbished, but the bathrooms are still very small (no big deal for me). The room layout is a bit weird with plug sockets in awkward locations.

My room was spacious, clean and the TV worked fine. The bed and sheets were very comfortable. There were a few other guests staying on my floor but I heard next to no noise from the other rooms. WIFI works in the room and I was able to view YouTube vids at 720p.

This hotel is guest friendly too which is a plus. There was no breakfast included but many inexpensive bars and restaurants are nearby on Soi Buakhao.

A friend had recommended me this hotel for 850 baht a night but on arrival the staff insisted the price had changed to 990. When I booked an extra couple of nights they tried to change the price again to 1100 baht but I managed to get the room for 990 again after some negotiating. The reception staff are ok but the girl who never shuts up is annoying (you'll know her when you see her).

I also met a guy in the lift who was paying 13,000 a month staying long term.

Online you can book the rooms from 795 baht a night depending on the time of year which represents very good value. The location is pretty good and you can walk to LK Metro and Second road easily.

There is a small and oddly shaped swimming pool that I never used. If you are into lazing around by the pool in the daytime then there are probably better hotels nearby.

This hotel is guest friendly so there is no charge to take back a girl for the night. Your guest will have to leave her ID at the reception as per standard practice in Pattaya.

A video review of Crystal Suites located at LK Metro, Central Pattaya. Crystal Club Agogo is downstairs, and is open from 7pm-3am where plenty of the gogo dancers are around the first and ground floors...

Parts of this video include:

0:04 Intro, balcony and street views
0:43 Map of the location
0:47 Deluxe Room A, 26 sq m
3:02 Balcony view in the day & night
4:03 Bathroom check
4:46 More room details
7:01 Bouns scenes
8:55 Outro

The good:

- Well proportioned room and bathroom
- Great balcony views on the front
- Nice big TV
- Good for the party atmosphere from 7pm-3am
- Great for the Crystal Club gogo bar downstairs, plus the dancers are sprawled across the ground and first floor during opening hours
- Competitive price for the rooms (cheapest was $18 when I stayed)

The Bad:

- No reception & entrance is to the right side
- No swimming pool or fitness center
- Noisy from 7pm-3am, so if you are sleeping early you could be affected by the bar noise

The Ugly

- Should have had a washable cover on the sofa :)

Overall:

One big caveat about staying in a hotel above a gogo bar is that it's not really suitable for 9 out of 10 visitors. This is because staying above noisy bars isn't really ideal for a relaxing holiday. For a similar price you could get a quiet room with a gym & swimming pool in central Pattaya (eg. March hotel).

Having said that I did enjoy my stay at Crystal Suites as I knew what I was in for beforehand. I made use of the nice balcony overlooking LK Metro, and liked the big TV and was happy in general with the room. I would stay again but only for a short stay of just a few days...

I hope this helps you when choosing your Pattaya hotel, even if you don't like this one you can see what you get for the money.

The Best Value Hotel in PATTAYA...???

April Suites Hotel Review - from $27

April Suites is often said to be the best value hotel in all of Pattaya (or even the whole of Thailand).

This hotel is a 3-star, guest friendly hotel with 79 rooms. It is often fully booked up, especially in the high season with many repeat customers staying.

So I booked myself in and will give you the low down of my stay.

If you are thinking of booking April Suites or another Pattaya hotel in the $20-40 range, make sure to read this website post for more info including essential booking tips:

I stayed in August 2016, and paid 1275 baht for a 32 sq. m. deluxe room booking just one day before staying. I thought it was good value, but I would probably opt for the smaller room option if staying again.

April Suites is guest friendly, so there is no extra charge to bring back a lady friend.

The location is really quiet at night, as it's at the end of a small alley. It's a 3 minute walk to Soi 7 & 8 and second road where you catch the baht buses is just 1 min away. The beach is about a 5 minute walk.

My room was big, clean and everything worked. The aircon was so cold that I ended up having to turn the temperature up and on light.

TV was good, with Western cable channels available.

14+ plug sockets available in the room, probably the most I've ever seen!

No kettle or tea / coffee facilities provided, but you can apparently request a kettle.

Big fridge, good for staying long term.

Free WIFI was good and there were no connectivity issues when I stayed.

My room had a very small balcony, good for smokers but you must turn the aircon off when you are out there as it makes a racket.

Bathroom was good, everything worked fine. The free shampoo and shower gel was actually good quality for once and not the cheapest available.

When I stayed in August 2016 they were repairing the rooftop swimming pool area, so it will be fully operational for the high season.

The fitness centre on the roof was not the biggest, having a sauna is definitely a bonus and was unexpected. If you are into fitness you can also use the bigger gym in the sister hotel August Suites not far away.

No place is perfect, I can find faults anywhere and these were the negatives:

No kettle in room
2 single mattresses pushed together for the double bed (not an issue for me)
No 7-Eleven right on the doorstep (they do have a local shop opposite though)
Taxis and Mototaxi drivers often don't know this hotel (take a hotel card out with you for sure)
It is located at the end of a short alley, which may not be to some people's liking.

Overall: It's a great hotel for a great price. Very clean, spacious and functional. The service was also definitely above average. A good location close to the bars but still quiet enough to sleep.

No place is perfect, and April Suites does have a few very minor flaws. But I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it if it falls in within your budget.

Pattaya Hotels the Follow Up by Cheap Charlie

In 2017 the Cheap Charlie Chronicles reviewed a bunch of hotels in Pattaya. Many of these videos did quite well and was a big reason for my channel taking off as it once did. Is Pattaya the Best Place for Single Men? ????????

Pattaya, Thailand, is often portrayed as a haven for single men, with its vibrant nightlife, beautiful beaches, and relaxed lifestyle. However, is it truly the best destination for single men looking to enjoy or find companionship? This video takes an in-depth look into the reality of Pattaya as a single man's paradise, exploring various aspects that might make you reconsider. We delve into the nightlife, cultural and social dynamics, and what truly lies beneath the surface of this popular tourist destination.

Nightlife Not for All: While Pattaya boasts a notorious nightlife scene with bars, clubs, and entertainment venues, it might not cater to everyone's tastes. The prominence of the sex industry can be off-putting for those seeking more genuine connections or traditional dating experiences.
Cultural Misunderstandings: The allure of Thailand's warm hospitality and the charm of Thai people can sometimes lead to misunderstandings. Cultural differences and language barriers may complicate relationships and interactions, making it difficult for foreigners to navigate social norms.
Economic Implications: The cost of indulging in Pattaya's nightlife and entertainment offerings can add up, with expenses on nights out, dining, and activities requiring a budget that may not align with every single man's expectations or financial reality.
Looking Beyond Nightlife: Pattaya has much more to offer than just its nightlife. From serene beaches and islands nearby like Koh Larn to cultural attractions and adventure sports, the city has diverse offerings that go unnoticed by those focused solely on the nightlife.
Safety and Scams: Like any major tourist destination, Pattaya has its share of safety concerns and scams targeting foreigners. Being aware and cautious is crucial to avoid unpleasant experiences that can tarnish the overall perception of the city.
Alternative Destinations: We also explore alternative Thai destinations that might be more suited to single men looking for a mix of social life, culture, and relaxation without the intense focus on nightlife.
Pattaya: A Single Man's Paradise? aims to provide a balanced view, weighing the pros and cons of calling Pattaya the ultimate destination for single men. Whether you're contemplating a visit or considering making Pattaya your home, this video offers valuable insights and tips to help you make an informed decision.

Pattaya Hotel $13 Per Night - Cocco Resort

This is a pretty nice hotel on Soi 15 off of Thappraya Road that cost me about $13 per night on Agoda. The location can be a little tricky to find and that is why I think it was a good value but you are not too far from central Pattaya.

I firmly believe that one can travel as a minimalist, Cheap Charlie style and have a great time. Paradise is a journey, not a destination. For those of us who love to travel, the joy of it is the new experiences, exploring new places, meeting new people, experiencing difference cultures. To do these things a lot of money is not required, in fact by spending a lot there is the real possibility that money can get in the way of these things. I keep my backpacking ultralight, bringing as few things as possible so I can also explore and move around as much as possible. I do a lot of walking on my travels.

The good, the bad and the ugly:

The good:

Great central location, close to Soi Buakhao and Second road
Excellent deals to be had through agoda (remember to book through the Bkk112 agoda links on

Bad things:

Room was looking a little dated in parts

The Ugly:
Views were obstructed from most of the front facing balconies (they really need to chop down that big tree!)

Overall: I liked the August Suites a lot, and I wouldn't hesitate to book in again as it ticks a lot of the boxes I look for. I don't know of any central Pattaya hotel with equally big rooms and excellent overall facilities for $40 a night.

The only main negative I can think of was the poor balcony view, and that's normally not a deal breaker for most people. April Suites and March Hotel share the same management as August Suites and they are also good choices close by in Central Pattaya.

Cheapest Pattaya 4-Star Hotel...???

Cheapest Pattaya 4-Star Hotel...??? The Adelphi

I'd been recommended The Adelphi in Pattaya as a great place to stay. It's a new 4-star hotel just off Soi Buakhao and has low room rates for what you get.

For more info on Pattaya hotels:

Best Pattaya Hotels $20-40:
Best Pattaya Hotels $50+:

I paid only 1092 baht ($31.50) for a night in August 2016 through an agoda flash deal. If you can get an agoda flash deal it's definitely very good value for money.

Normal room rates at the Adelphi start around 1300 baht for the low season (May-Oct) and are 1500-2000 baht in the high season (Nov-Apr).

The Adelphi is a guest friendly hotel with 76 rooms. This hotel is often fully booked up, and was when I stayed in the low season so reserve a room ahead as far as possible.

Parts of this video include:
0:04 30 sq m deluxe room
3:18 Bathroom
4:02 Map of the location in relation to the 4 main Pattaya bar areas
4:06 My booking screenshot (agoda flash deal)
4:14 Rooftop pool / fitness centre and bonus scenes

Overall:

I really enjoyed my stay here, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone if it falls in your price range. I will include the Adelphi in the top hotels $20-40 on the bangkok112.com website soon.

The beds were really comfy, the facilities and service were great, and everything still had that 'new' feeling. It was quiet at night (a must for me), and there are many inexpensive bars and restaurants 2 minutes away on Soi Buakhao.

No place is perfect, some of the negatives were:

- Location far from the beach
- Location not really newbie friendly (if you know Pattaya already it's fine)
- No balconies on the lower floors (request a high floor when booking)
- No 7-Eleven on the doorstep (nearest one is 2 minutes away)
- Relatively high price for a beer in the rooftop pool area, 115 baht.

Bangkok 112 is 100% independent and doesn't do any paid promotional work. Everything comes out of my pocket and I prefer to be a 'regular guest' rather than get any special treatment.

Additional notes:

Red Planet Pattaya hotel is the cheapest and smallest Pattaya hotel recommended on It's definitely not for everyone, as the small room size and lack of facilities will put off some especially for longer stays.

But I still like the place. Rooms are cheap, very clean, it's guest friendly and has super fast WIFI. The location on Second Road is great too with the beach, many restaurants and all the soapy massages close by. I'd definitely stay again.

I paid 765 baht through agoda for a room in November 2016.

Extra tips:

- You can use the amazing rooftop swimming pools at the nearby Siam@Siam Design hotel as long as you purchase drinks (towels will be provided). For a detailed video of the pools see here:

- The big Central Marina shopping mall is across the street and very convenient.

- The beach is only a 2 minute walk away. 40 baht to hire a deck chair in the shade.

The Eastiny Bella Vista Hotel is located in Beach Road Soi 7-8 Pattaya in a very busy Nightlife Area. The amazing Pattaya Nightlife starts direct in front of the Door. I choosed a Superior Delight Room with a small Balcony and a nice View. If your Room is at the Front it could be a little bit noisy until 2-3am.
There is no Pool in the Hotel but the Ocean is only a few Minutes away. Overall it is a very nice Hotel for the Price of 650B ($20) in such a Central Area of Pattaya.
