Patagonia Vacation Travel Video Guide

Travel video about destination Patagonia in Argentina.
Patagonia is a land of endless plains, a fantastic world of ice and rock but also a land of powerful winds and distant dreams. Our journey begins in the deepest south of Argentina, at the 'end of the world' within a natural paradise between both sky and earth.

In the Tierra Del Fuego region, Ushuaia is known as the Gateway to Antarctica and is a small town that has experienced a great boom in recent years. It is difficult to believe that not so long ago, nothing but the wooden huts of Anglican missionaries stood there and 400 criminals were forced to build a prison.

The Tierra Del Fuego National Park was founded in 1960 and is very accessible. The Rio Pipo snakes through the varied landscape and more than 60,000 hectares cover the border with Chile surrounded by snow covered mountains that survey the land below.

By boat we travel to the impressive Glaciar Grey at the southern end of the Patagonian Ice Field, where the ice masses of the glacier meet the waters of the lake and huge chunks of floating ice slowly break away in dramatic fashion.

Patagonia is one of the oldest landscapes on Earth, a beautiful world of rock and savannah created out of fire, water, wind and ice and subject to constant change.

Patagonia Vacation Travel Video Guide

Travel video about destination Patagonia.
Patagonia is the most southerly region in Argentina and the second largest state in South America. A dream destination of strong winds, endless plains, glacial landscapes and total isolation at the end of the world. In the Tierra Del Fuego region, Ushuaia is known as the Gateway to Antarctica and is a small town that has experienced a great boom in recent years. It is difficult to believe that not long ago nothing but the wooden huts of Anglican missionaries stood here, those who introduced Christianity to the Fireland Indians in 1869. The Tierra Del Fuego National Park was founded in 1960 and is very accessible. The Rio Pipo snakes through the varied landscape and more than sixty thousand hectares cover the border with Chile surrounded by snow covered mountains that survey the land below. Only a handful of people are allowed to visit Penguin Island, closely supervised by a guide and restricted to well-defined pathways. It is fascinating to watch the Magellan Penguins, which actually bray like donkeys, as they waddle along in true penguin-like comical fashion. From the Lago Nordenskjöld there is a wonderful view of the park’s natural landmark, the two thousand five hundred metre high Torres Del Paine. The remains of a dead guanako indicate that the park is also the habitat of a legendary yet dreaded predator, the puma. Patagonia is an ancient rock and savannah landscape that has been created out of fire, water, wind and ice and is one of the oldest landscapes on Planet Earth. Constantly changing but also frozen in the mists of time itself!

Patagonia, a region in the southern part of Chile and Argentina, is a great place to immerse yourself in different and suspenseful activities. The majority of hiking and trekking includes mountains that are covered by ice.

If road trip is your type of activity where you cover more than 800-mile national highway of Carretera Austral, this should be a perfect vacation for you as there are plenty of places you could visit along the way.

During the visit to the famous glaciers in Patagonia, some tourist spots offer ice-climbing, which is a very challenging task to do if you are new to the activity. Places like the El Chalten, which is considered to be the National Capital of Trekking in Argentina.

The popular UNESCO world heritage, the Peninsula Valdes. Ferdinand Magellan, a Portuguese explorer who discovered Tierra del Fuego which means “Land of Fire”. Villa O'Higgins, which is famous for its salmon fishing and camping, can be visited along the way while traversing the Carretera Austral road.

At the fabled ‘edge of the world’ the natural wonders of Patagonia await. This last frontier of South America slopes down from The Andes towards Antarctica.

This is a land of legendary beauty, where Mother Nature runs the show. Prepare to feel dwarfed by mighty volcanoes, towering glaciers and floating icebergs.

On the Argentinean side, a relaxing day trip takes you from sleepy San Martín de los Andes to Villa La Angostura. Simply follow the scenic Road of the 7 Lakes, taking in two national parks. This will bring you to San Carlos de Bariloche, a popular mountain resort on the shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi.

Take a detour along the famous Ruta 40 to the town of El Chaltén: Argentina’s trekking capital in the southern Andes. Hike to the idyllic Laguna Capri or higher lookout points to gaze up at Fitz Roy mountain. View the jagged peaks of Cerro Torre, which few dare to climb.

El Calafate is nestled on the southern shores of Lago Argentino, the gateway lake to Los Glaciares National Park. Embark on an epic journey to the world’s third-largest freshwater reserve: the Perito Moreno Glacier.

Board the 'End of the World Train’ to Tierra del Fuego National Park or join a cruise along the Beagle Channel, to experience Antarctica without actually going there.

On the Chilean side, you can find fascinating historic and cultural attractions in pretty colonial cities, such as the regional capital Punta Arenas.

On your way north, take a detour to the Milodón cave. This prehistoric shelter held the remains of a giant ground-dwelling sloth and other huge extinct species.

The dramatic national park of Torres del Paine is brimming with lakes that spill out into gorgeous waterfalls, such as Salto Grande.

Spot the spectacular outline of the Osorno Volcano, the focal point of Los Lagos, the lake region that forms the northern border of Chilean Patagonia.

This magical wilderness at the far edge of the world reminds us that we are just temporary spectators of nature’s infinite beauty.

Patagonia is HUGE and it can be overwhelming to know how to plan a trip to Patagonia. There are so many amazing things to do in Patagonia in both Argentina and Chile. We only had about a week to visit Patagonia so we are definitely not experts, but hopefully our research can be helpful if you are trying to plan a 1 week Patagonia itinerary as well.

If you are Patagonia trip planning and wondering where to go in Patagonia, we focused on the El Calafate + Chalten area in Argentina and Torres del Paine in Chile. We toured Argentina on our own and in Chile we booked with ChileTour Patagonia (highly recommend them)!

Here are our tips for what to see in Patagonia, including:
- Los Glaciares National Park Fitz Roy Day Trek vs. Torres del Paine day trek to Base of the Towers
- Kayaking at the Perito Moreno Glacier in El Calafate, Argentina
- Boat tour to the Grey Glacier Torres del Paine in Chile
- Where to stay in Torres del Paine + how to maximize your time there if you're not a big hiker

These are our tips for a one week Patagonia itinerary, but obviously the longer you can spend in Patagonia the better! It is such a beautiful place and we would love to visit again someday. There are also so many areas of Patagonia we missed and have added to our bucketlist for the future.

Squeezed between the Andes and the Pacific, Chile is sometimes called the longest country in the world. It is never more than 180 km wide, but its coastline extends over 4,300 km. It’s unusual long shape has given it a varied climate with one of the world’s driest desert in the north, while its southern tip is home to cold-weather creatures like penguins. Chile is also one of the closest nations, along with Argentina and New Zealand, to Antarctica. Here’s a look at the best places to visit in Chile:

10 Best Places to Visit in Argentina - Travel Video

Check out all the places seen in this video:

Located in the southern region of South America in a large, elongated shape, Argentina was sparsely inhabited by a few indigenous tribes before Spain’s colonized it in the 16th and 17th centuries. Today, the country is an independent republic featuring varied landscapes from rich plains to thick jungle, majestic mountains, pastoral steppes and impressive glaciers. Here’s a look at the best places to visit in Argentina.

Argentina Vacation Travel Video Guide

Travel video about destination Argentina.
Argentina is the second largest country in South America and a captivating land of tango, adventure and breathtaking nature.Buenos Aires is the capital of Argentina and the most European city in South America with buildings that are reminiscent of bygone times. The mighty Plaza De Mayo is the historic heart of the city, along with the presidential palace, the Casa Rosada and the Catedral Metropolitana. Today the tango is performed in each corner of the city and in the nineteenth century poor immigrants from Italy and Spain settled in Buenos Aires. This explains the fiery temperament and deep melancholy that is expressed by the dances and is evident with each flick of the leg. In what was once the red light district with its whore houses of colourful corrugated iron taken from numerous ship wrecks, the tango was born. We visit an estanzia, a feudal residence of the beef barons who once settled on the endless plains of the pampas and who built their farmhouses according to the rustic designs of the nobility. From Salta Station we begin a fascinating train journey on the Tren A Las Nubes, the “train into the clouds,.which will climb to more than three thousand metres above sea level along one of the highest railroads in the world. The Los Glaciares National Park is a mixture of lakes, glaciers, mountains and untouched wilderness yet despite the harsh climate the local vegetation captivates due to its diversity. Our journey comes to an end. From north to south, through cities and pampas to glaciers and mountains, Argentina is a dream destination come true!

Named for good sailing winds, #BuenosAires is the capital of Argentina, and home to nearly a quarter of the country’s two million residents. Come for the stunning European architecture, and stay for delicious cuts of meat, the city’s zest for soccer, and, of course, the tango.

A #vacation in Buenos Aires should include a stop at La Boca Harbor, where you’ll find numerous street vendors, restaurants, and street dancers willing to give you a spin.

#Visit Plaza de Mayo. There you can take in the rosy architecture of the Casa Rosada, which was made famous by Argentine First Lady Eva Peron and the musical about her life, “Evita.”

Cap off your Buenos Aires #sightseeing with an evening walk through Puerto Madero, where you can get a late dinner and dance until the next day arrives.

For now, we hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

Torres Del Paine Vacation Travel Video Guide

Travel video about nature park Torres del Paine in Chile.
The Torres del Paine National Park in Patagonia, Southern Chile, is one of the most fascinating mountain landscapes on Earth. Its diverse variety of landscapes is captivating, a harmonic union of rock, ice and water that is also the ideal habitat for the indigenous wildlife that lives there.

Three high granite mountains tower above the landscape, the 'Paine Towers' or the Torres del Paine. The park derived its name from the rock needles of the wonderful mountain range that is situated in the centre of a remarkable mountain world. Below the 2,800 metre high summits, several rivers dominate the landscape, such as the Rio Grey, on whose banks grow a large variety of plants.

A precarious chain bridge crosses the Rio Grey to one of the most spectacular vantage points of a nearby lake, the Lago Grey. Before arriving at the Mirador Lago Grey, the path leads through a kind of enchanted forest that is typical of the region. Crooked trees and strangely shaped trunks create a truly magical atmosphere.

The park's walking paths that travel through green valleys are flanked by numerous flowers in all the colors of the rainbow, a feast for the senses amid pure nature. Further north of the Lago Pehoé, surrounded by steep, rocky slopes, is yet another picturesque lake, Lago Nordenskjöld. Its name is unusual for the region, yet seems to be appropriate as much of it resembles a Scandinavian fjord.

The Torres del Paine National Park is rightly known as the most wonderful mountain world on Earth. Here, rock, water and indigenous plant life combine to create a perfect harmony of nature.
