PARSI Food Tour in India (Rare Indian-Iranian Cuisine) #RockEats

Parsi food is one of the hardest to find foods these days because the Parsi people are slowly shrinking in numbers. So Manisha and I went to explore Indian-Iranian fusion food in Delhi. You haven't seen Indian food like this before! We'll show you what to order and tell you where you can find the best Parsi food in India.

We ate Patra ne Machhi, Chicken Dhansak, Sali Boti, Berry Palau, Dhansak with Kebab, Falooda, Lagan nu Custard. One other great dish I wanted to show you was Bombay Duck, but it's not available in Delhi. It's a soft fried fish which you eat along with its bones.

The best Parsi food in India is available at Britannia & Co. in Mumbai, it's well worth the trip to Colaba! In Delhi, try SodaBottleOpenerWala - I like the Gurugram branch best.

Indian Street Food Chaat Basics for Foreigners

If you want to eat authentic Indian street food then you need to know what Chaat is! Chaatwalas (savoury snack sellers) line the streets in India serving all sorts of different spicy, sour, and sweet snacks which are known as Chaat, Chat, or in Hindi चाट. I'll explain exactly what it is while we eat Dahi Puri, Palak Patta Chaat, and Tamatar Chaat at two famous restaurants in the home of Chaat - Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

When it comes to whether it's safe to eat at these restaurants for foreigners, I think it's safe. It's much safer than eating from a street food cart. Water is the real sure-fire Delhi Belly ingredient and none of the dishes we ate have water - only yoghurt. So don't order Pani Puri (spicy water-filled shells) unless you know the water is clean!

If you're really worried, you can eat Chaat and other Indian street foods at Halidrams or Bikanerwala which are very clean Indian restaurant chains across North India. Their chaat is a little watered down in taste, that's all. But it's still yummy there, and I usually eat there.

Here's another helpful video and an INCREDIBLE food tour:

So many people just pass through Jammu on the way to Srinagar and miss all the amazing street foods and Dogra cuisine that Jammu City has to offer! But not me! I ate it all including Jammu's most famous Kalari Kulche and Kachaloo Chaat.

Delhi University Street Food & Campus Tour (Indian Student Life & Food) #RockEats

In this Indian street food tour, we hit the streets of Delhi University's North Campus to eat like a student and find out a bit about student life in India. My sister-in-law Aastha/Alia/Aasman, a North Campus student, joins me on this food tour around the campus.

At Delhi University's North Campus, you can find an amazing selection of Indian foods. From the street food of the campus lanes to the fancy cafes of Hudson lane. And the best thing is, everything is priced for students - cheap!

We eat Special Maggi Noodles, Bhel Puri, Kathi Roll, and Momos around Ramjas College, Hindu College, and the Kamla Nagar market. We also explore some campuses and end in the beautiful Kamla Nehru Ridge forest. We discuss what it's like living at a hostel, what the rules are for girls at a hostel, and students that have studied at North Campus - including Shah Rukh Khan!

If you're a foodie, I highly recommend you visit North Campus, Kamla Nagar, and nearby Hudson lane to taste all the Indian street snacks there. And explore some of the University Campuses while you're at it. It's an awesome place to hang out in Delhi.

This brother-sister duo have a small restaurant where they cook the healthiest food in India. The amazing thing is it doesn't make you sleepy or sluggish! The food is light and it leaves you feeling energised. I'll explain why and show you how you can try this 'satvik' food in India too.

In this video we try satvik paneer paratha, puran poli, chilli paneer, kadhi paroka, and daal.

Satvik (सात्विक) food refers to a category of food in the Indian tradition that is considered pure, clean, and beneficial for the body and mind. Satvik food is believed to promote health, mental clarity, and spiritual well-being.

In general, Satvik food is vegetarian, excluding meat, fish, eggs, onions, garlic, and other foods considered to be Rajasic or Tamasic (stimulating or dulling) in nature.

The diet emphasises fresh fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, nuts, and dairy products. It also places great importance on the method of preparation and cooking, focusing on using gentle cooking techniques and natural ingredients to preserve the nutritional value of the food.

The idea behind Satvik food is to eat food that is simple, light, and easy to digest and that does not overstimulate or overload the body or mind.

This diet is commonly followed by those practising yoga, meditation, and other spiritual practices, as it is believed to enhance the benefits of these practices by promoting a calm and balanced state of mind.

What is tamasic food?

Tamasic food is a category of food in the Indian tradition that is considered heavy, dull, and detrimental to the body and mind. Tamasic foods are believed to promote lethargy, sluggishness, and negative emotions.

In general, Tamasic foods are excessively oily, spicy, salty, or fried. Examples of Tamasic foods include meat, fish, eggs, onion, garlic, fermented foods, stale or overripe food, and processed or packaged foods.

These foods are believed to harm physical health, mental clarity, and spiritual well-being.

The idea behind Tamasic food is that it is not conducive to a healthy and balanced life, as it can weigh down the body and mind and lead to disease and negative emotions. In contrast, Satvik food, which is considered pure and beneficial, is believed to promote health, mental clarity, and spiritual well-being. The middle category of food is called Rajasic food, which is stimulating in nature and includes foods like coffee, tea, and spicy foods.

An Indian's Food Tour of New Zealand

Explore traditional New Zealand food with us as we travel around New Zealand eating where local Kiwis eat - at bakeries and fish and chip shops. We ate just like a Kiwi including mince & cheese pies, Lamingtons, Eclairs, the World Famous in New Zealand L&P drink, Kumara Fries, Fish and Chips (Hoki, Snapper, and Tarakihi), spaghetti buns, bacon and egg quiches and more!

When travelling in New Zealand, the best places to eat are at bakeries. They're traditional Kiwi eateries that serve all sorts of savoury and sweet street foods like pies and cakes. They're very cheap, there's tons of variety in the food, and they're found everywhere in New Zealand. Bakeries are where the locals eat at lunchtime.

For dinner, try famous Kiwi fish and chips. The best fish is by far Snapper. It has a very unique and unforgettable flavour (without spices!), but it costs a lot. Cheaper fish have less taste. The key to good fish and chips is, like any food, that the fish is fresh. In this video, we found the freshest fish in New Zealand at Bobby's Fresh Fish Market in Tauranga. It's literally on the pier where the fishing boats come in!

How to Avoid FAKE Darjeeling Tea (and is Expensive Indian Tea Worth It? TASTE TEST)

Is expensive Darjeeling tea any better than supermarket black tea? And how can you avoid buying fake Darjeeling Tea? Most of the Darjeeling tea produced is fake! So I want directly to a tea farm in Darjeeling, India to find out all of this.

MY MASALA CHAI RECIPE IS HERE How I Make MASALA CHAI for My Mother-in-Law Recipe ☕

Approximately 11,000 tons of Darjeeling tea are produced each year from the official Darjeeling region. Approximately 40,000 tons of tea are sold each year as Darjeeling. So at least 30,000 of those 40,000 tons are counterfeit. These counterfeit teas aren't grown in Darjeeling. - TeaSource.

Note: The red outline of Darjeeling is just of the city area, the Darjeeling region where tea grows extends further.
