PARIS, FRANCE - Day 966 - After almost 3 years of travelling, I decided to visit Paris for the first time in my life. As a born and bred Londoner, not having been to Paris as a child on a school trip can be seen as strange and rare, however for me, I never had the opportunity.
Over the last 3 years I have spent a significant amount of time in lesser known areas of countries such as Mexico, Japan and Indonesia as well as spending two weeks chasing tornados in the States, 3 weeks in Kyrgyzstan and a trip to Pripyat and Chernobyl, but still Paris eluded me.
As a long term traveller, there can often be an element of negativity directed towards people who choose to take short trips to local cities for the purpose of pleasure (ie, tourists!), which I've been guilty of myself, but it's time to quash those views - being a tourist is fine!
This is the first of a short 2 part series from Paris - next time we head to the Moulin Rouge, Pere Lachaise Cemetary (a gem!) and Montmartre before moving on to Belgrade, Serbia.

We travel with a Microsoft Surface everywhere we go. I edit my videos on it & use it to backup my pictures and vides while we travel. It’s light and the best travel laptop on the market in my opinion.
We use Sony Alpha series cameras to film our videos. They are compact so you don’t look like a super tourist when you take great pictures and videos while you travel.
We use Manfrotto Tripods. They are compact, travel well, and honestly I would not use another tripod for my nice cameras.
Travel Plug that works in pretty much any country & has four USB ports. A must for any traveler.

Paris is easily one of the most enchanting and exciting cities to visit. The city of lights has so much to offer with world class museums, beautiful architecture and cityscapes, famous monuments, delicious food, endless neighborhoods to get lost within and so much more. It's the kind of city that you could visit over and over and find something new to do and yet still feel like you have barely scratched the surface of what Paris is all about.
In this video we share how we spent 4 days in Paris with a full itinerary including the order we visited certain sites and prices for everything we saw and ate. Paris has so many worthwhile activities, sites and foods to try so it is impossible to capture everything in one trip (or even one lifetime) but we hope this video guide give you a good starting point to help you plan for your upcoming trip!

Paris tips for first-time visitors - our 3 day itinerary
In this week's episode, I showcase Paris, our first stop on our year-long worldwide travels. I have been to Paris in 2016 for the Euro 2016 tournament, but I was desperate to go back to see more. We hopped on the Eurostar from King's Cross in London to Paris and checked out some sights over the three days. In the middle of this episode is a clip from my interview with Oliver Gee from the Earful Tower Podcast when I went to see him for a coffee and to record an interview.
An excellent episode for some first-timers in Paris as we check out the main sights, excluding the Eiffel Tower. A lot of walking around the cobbled streets of Paris, trying to find public toilets, sipping great coffee in cafes and basking in the glorious sunshine. Enjoy!
