Cook Islands 50 beginnings

This my video birthday card to the Cook Islands who are celebrating 50 years of self-rule.

Called “Beginnings”, it’s a reflection on independence, looking back at that day in 1965 when the Islands became a nation in its own right, the opening by HM The Queen of Rarotonga international airport and the role of first Prime Minister Albert Henry in the birth of the nation. It’s created with love for the people of this remote and proud country.

Rarotonga, Cook Islands - Traveling with teens

Family of 5 traveling. This is in the cool/remote location of Rarotonga in the Pacific Ocean.

William Marsters of Palmerston

This video tells, through a song, the remarkable story of William Ma(r)sters who ran away to sea from his home in Leicestershire, England in the 19th century and ended up on the remote South Pacific island of Palmerston in the Cook Islands. With the help of four wives (not three as is often believed), he founded a dynasty which survives to this to day.

The song was written for the 100th anniversary of William's arrival on the island. The video, filmed on Palmerston, is not very good quality as the original was on tape, But I think this is an historically important recording, and I hope Marsters descendants around the world will enjoy it.

You can find out more about the Cook Islands at - the most comprehensive and only independent guide on the internet.

ANZAC DAY Cook Islands Ceremony and Parade | Rarotonga RSA Military Museum

I attended the solemn ceremony of ANZAC Day on Cook Islands in Rarotonga.

Although it is a holiday in Cook Islands, there are a handful things to experience for the ANZAC Day in Cook Islands.

After the ANZAC Morning Ceremony and the Dawn Parade, I was invited to join in the pot-luck style breakfast following the event. And even better, I also joined in the RSA gathering - Returned & Services Association (of New Zealand and Rarotonga).

I learned a great amount of Cook Islands history, the soldiers and its military involvement in world wars. Rarotonga RSA's small museum is a neat place to check out when you're in town!

The RSA Headquarter is located nearby the airport, and next to the historical Nikao Cemetery. To learn more about the Nikao Cemetery Restoration Project Rarotonga:

Rarotonga Sevens in Heaven - fun and games

- The annual Rarotonga Sevens in Heaven tournament isn't only about the rugby sevens, there are plenty of things to keep the spectators happy including food, kicking competitions and dash-for-cash races, dressing up, chilling out in the VIP area and watching the dancers- from tiny tots on up - strut their stuff. All this plus great weather and exciting rugby makes Sevens in Heaven a fabulous occasion.
