In this video we will show you 12 examples of some of the amazing places you could go for a walk in the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the bordering area of Nidderdale. Our suggestions are based on walks we have enjoyed on our own trips to the Yorkshire Dales. South Across the Long X Bridge, Construction of New Bridge, Little Missouri River, Watford City, ND
This video was made driving south on US Highway 85, south of Watford City, from the entrance of the North Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park, across the Long X Bridge, and then turning west on the CCC Campground Road (the western end of the Long X Road). Construction began in 2019 of a new four lane bridge spanning the Little Missouri River on US Highway 85 south of Watford City, North Dakota. The bridge being replaced is the Long X Bridge, constructed there in 1959. Previous to the Long X Bridge, the Roosevelt Bridge , built in 1928, provided crossing access to the west of this area. It connected what is now the CCC camp area to the present North Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park. The first river crossing over the Little Missouri had preceded that bridge at the same place. It was a privately owned and operated ferry constructed by local rancher Bill Chaloner, who was an astounding cowboy, well know across the country for his bronc busting skills, and a major factor in creating a road (which he began himself) through the area to encourage tourism.
