The Best of Reykjavik, Iceland
Top things to do in Reykjavik, Icleand's capital, including an authentic spa experience with the locals, embracing the nightlife and parties, the famous Reykjavik hot dog stand once frequented by Bill Clinton, landmarks in this small walkable city including the Saga Museum, colorful harbor and Hallgrimskirkja church. Reykjavik has a reputation as a bit of a party town, and it is, but whether you’re going there for fun in the midnight sun or culture and adventure, ere are my not to miss things to do in Iceland’s capital.
#1 Reykjavik Spa
Icelanders love their spas and a big part of the Icelandic experience is soaking in a hot pot. While many tourists head to the Blue Lagoon, I recommend finding a local spa in Reykjavik for a more authentic experience, like Laugar Spa. If you arrive early in the morning, you’ll find folks taking a dip before their trip to the office. This high tech Reykjavik spa includes a gym, café, salon and relaxation rooms. Don’t get too relaxed, as there’s more to do in Reykjavik.
#2 Embrace the Nightlife
A lot of people come to Reykjavik just to party. In the summer, it can be light for almost 24 hours and in the winter, darkness, leaving lots of time to hit the myriad of clubs, pubs and restaurants. I visited during the summer, when it can be light all night, making for a surreal going out experience. Wherever you end up, if you get hungry late night, look for the Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur hot dog stand. Tons of Icelanders recommended it to me and it was darn good.
#3 Explore the Landmarks
Reykjavik is a small, walkable city and from almost anywhere, you can see the city’s main church, Hallgrímskirkja, which is worth a stop if not to view its modern architecture than to go up in the observation tower for a view of the entire city. Check out the colorful old harbor and for a another great vista of Reykjavik, hit The Pearl. It also houses the Saga Museum for history buffs, and an observation deck for panaromic views of Reykjavik.
But don’t just take my checklist with you, make sure to ask the locals you meet on your travels, because there’s always something interesting to experience if you’re open trying something new on your journey. It will make your travels that much more memorable.

Theodore Roosevelt National Park, North Dakota - South Unit - Full Tour (2019)
Theodore Roosevelt National Park is an American national park comprising three geographically separated areas of badlands in western North Dakota. The park was named for U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt. The park covers 70,446 acres (110.072 sq mi; 28,508 ha; 285.08 km2) of land in three sections: the North Unit, the South Unit, and the Elkhorn Ranch Unit.
The park's larger South Unit lies alongside Interstate 94 near Medora, North Dakota. The smaller North Unit is situated about 80 mi (130 km) north of the South Unit, on U.S. Route 85, just south of Watford City, North Dakota. Roosevelt's Elkhorn Ranch is located between the North and South units, approximately 20 mi (32 km) west of US 85 and Fairfield, North Dakota. The Little Missouri River flows through all three units of the park. The Maah Daah Hey Trail connects all three units.
The park received 749,389 recreational visitors in 2018. It is the only American national park named directly after a single person.
Roosevelt first came to the North Dakota badlands to hunt bison in September 1883. During that first short trip, he got his bison and fell in love with the rugged lifestyle and the perfect freedom of the West. He invested $14,000 in the Maltese Cross Ranch, which was already being managed by Sylvane Ferris and Bill Merrifield seven miles south of Medora. That winter, Ferris and Merrifield built the Maltese Cross Cabin. After the death of both his wife and his mother on February 14, 1884, Teddy Roosevelt returned to his North Dakota ranch seeking solitude and time to heal. That summer, he started his second ranch, the Elkhorn Ranch, 35 miles north of Medora, which he hired two Maine woodsmen, Bill Sewall and Wilmot Dow, to operate. Teddy Roosevelt took great interest in his ranches and in hunting in the West, detailing his experiences in pieces published in eastern newspapers and magazines. He wrote three major works on his life in the West: Ranch Life and the Hunting Trail, Hunting Trips of a Ranchman and The Wilderness Hunter. His adventures in the strenuous life outdoors and the loss of his cattle in the starvation winter in 1886–1887 were influential in Theodore Roosevelt's pursuit of conservation policies as President of the United States (1901–1909).
The former Wimborne Farm / Paris-Bourbon County, Kentucky
The former Wimborne Farm directly adjoins Claiborne and Rosecrest Farms on the Winchester Road (627), only 3-miles outside of Downtown Paris. An appx. 189 acres, the farm has been entirely and masterfully redeveloped over the past four years to include 18 stalls in two very nice barns, 6-horse Equigym and covered round pen (one of only three in the United States), appx. 9,000 sq. ft. equipment building, and 3BR/3BA residence entirely remodeled by BACK Construction. Excellent soils (Bluegrass-Maury, Lowell-Bluegrass and Lowell-Faywood silt loams) have helped produce numerous winners over the years, and are one of the reasons so many storied horse farms surround this property including Darley Stonerside, Siena, and Stone Farms. The stallion LORD AT WAR and the La Troienne-line mare LADY WINBORNE, by Secretariat, are both buried here. With an excellent location, good soils and nearly new, world-class facilities, this property has tremendous potential for continued agricultural success. Offered at $2,750,000 by Zach Davis, Broker, (+1) 859.576.8195, email@example.com.
