Let's stay connected ????????

Why Myanmar ? How and why i've decided to travel Myanmar for 4 weeks ? Everything started with a thai visa which had to expire a week later and i had to go somewhere where i haven't been before and which is not on my list to go too soon.
You can find so much information on the internet about how to travel Myanmar, where to go in Myanmar, places to visit in Myanmar and so on. You can check my website too, . This is the reason i'm doing this video, some of you might watch it right before planning your next adventure, or on the way to your job. Whatever is the reason, i will not only tell you, but also show places to go and things to know before traveling to Myanmar.

This video is structured as a 4 weeks travel guide in Myanmar (Burma)
and brings you some helpful travel tips and a recommended Myanmar itinerary for first-timers.

Also you get to know which places to visit in Myanmar and things to do Mandalay, Bagan, Yangon, Inle Lake.

The video starts with Yangon, also known as Rangoon, the former capital and the largest city of Myanmar (Burma) and the places to visit in Yangon. As i preferred to spend only 2 days in this hot and crowded city, i suggest you to visit Yangon Circular Train, U Thant House, Botahtaung Pagoda and Chaukhtatgyi Buddha; but only one is a MUST - Shwedagon Pagoda - the symbol of Burma.

In the video i will show you some Myanmar travel tips, so it's definitely smart to know how to travel Myanmar like a pro… Especially dressing appropriately is definitely something you should do when entering not only Shwedagon Pagoda, but in every temple, stupa or burmese pagoda.

Next is Inle Lake a freshwater lake located in the Nyaungshwe Township of Taunggyi District of Shan State, part of Shan Hills in Myanmar (Burma).
Inle Lake has a reputation of being full of tourists, but it was one of my favourite places in Myanmar. Visit Inle Lake, the watery heart of the Nyaungshwe region and discover the Intha fishermen in their fleet of wooden canoes. We had boat tours of Inle Lake for 2 consecutive days, with a bicycle ride across villages and a canoe ride within those two 2 days.

Also, any first-time visitors to Myanmar skip Inle Lake in their rush to Bagan, an extraordinary ancient town and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I strongly suggest you not to skip Inle Lake.
After Inle Lake we went to do the trekking to Kalaw, a less known trek since the most familiar one is the 3 days trekking from Kalaw to Inle Lake. Right after we took the bus from Kalaw to Bagan.

Here I am going to share top 3 things to do in Bagan:

1. Watching the sunset must surely be among the very best things to do in Bagan at night
2. The incredible beauty of sunrise in Bagan - shown from the top of Shwesandaw pagoda.
3. A hot air balloon ride in Bagan over the temples is a once-in-a-lifetime experience...

If you want to plan the perfect Bagan itinerary, check out out top things to do in Bagan, Myanmar:

Last part of the video is dedicated for you to discover the best top things to do in Mandalay, Myanmar (Burma) including Mandalay Hill, Mandalay Palace, climb up Yankin Hill, visit Mahamuni Paya, visit Ta Moke Shwe Gu Gyi and few others. For more information, check my article

Thank you for watching. If you have any question, please feel free to drop a comment.

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” and taking more trips together and finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and travel hacking over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left January 10, 2016. We started this YouTube channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling. So we extended our 1 year trip to THREE years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before Nate turns 30 (which is March 20, 2019)! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

MYANMAR VIDEO - Kyaiktiyo Pagoda, Inle Lake, Bagan, U Bein Bridge (Mandalay)

Despite the mixed feeling I had for Myanmar trip, looking back, I am simply grateful. Truly it might have not been the smoothest journey, but that is how traveling is all about.
It shows reality; traveling isn’t always about rainbows and unicorns.
Throughout this short 2 weeks of journey, I also realized one thing what Myanmar showed me, that is how to build bridges of understanding between different cultures; Muslim’s and Buddhism. Knowing the fact that there are many, if not a lot, negative news about Rohingya, I am blessed to be able to see Myanmar myself and experience it as a muslim, in this climate of fear.
I am glad that I can say this trip has proven another one thing about traveling, that is:
We travel to open our hearts and eyes and learn more about the world than our newspapers will accommodate. We travel to bring what little we can, in our ignorance and knowledge, to those parts of the globe whose riches are differently dispersed. -Pico Iyer
Insha Allah, I am sure I will be back again to reexplore and relearn the country, to see them with my own eyes. It is not just the where and the what; it's the how and the why.

Enjoy and thanks so much for watching! xo-Syifa

Myanmar Discovery: The Splendour of Myanmar Part 2

This video is part 2 of 2 of my Myanmar series.

The travel period for this video is 9 days from 29th November to 7th December 2014.

We stayed:-
- 5 days in Yangon,
-1 day in Bagan,
-1 day in Heho(Inle Lake) and
-2 days in Mandalay

Attractions and topics covered in part 2 of this video series are:
1. Bagan 0:06
2. Nyaung U Local Market 0:38
3. 360 view of Bagan 0:59
4. Shwezigon Pagoda 1:26
5. Gubyaukgyi Pagoda(Wetkyi Inn) 1:57
6. Htilominlo 2:15
7. Manuha Pagoda 2:53
8. Ananda Temple 3:21
9. Shwesandow Pagoda (sunset) 4:22

(It was unfortunate that we only stayed 1 night in Bagan. With 2 nights, we could've taken the hot air balloon ride up to watch the sunrise. It's also recommended to visit the Popa Temple.)

11. One Leg Rower 5:30
12. Floating Garden 5:56
13. Lotus/silk Weaving Centre 7:02

(With hindsight, it's worthwhile to stay 2 nights in Inle Lake. For example, we could've stayed in one of the hotels on the lake, and explore more of Inle Lake by traveling further down.)

Have you watched part 1?

I hope you found this video informative and enjoyable!
Cheers,
landhopper.

Myanmar Travel: 10 Days of MUST DO surprises in Yangon, Bagan and Inle Lake

We had no idea what to expect. But, after 6 days in Myanmar it was clear we needed to extend as long as we could. In total I spent 10 days exploring Myanmar (formerly Burma) with my brother. We started in Yangon, traveled by bus to Bagan, where we stayed in New Began, and then cut across to Inle Lake before flying on to Thailand from Yangon.

This video highlights some of the visuals from my trip while delving into the experience. You'll also find a series of vlogs here:

Inle Lake a freshwater lake located in the Nyaungshwe Township of Taunggyi District of Shan State, part of Shan Hills in Myanmar (Burma). It is the second largest lake in Myanmar with an estimated surface area of 44.9 square miles (116 km2), and one of the highest at an elevation of 2,900 feet (880 m). During the dry season, the average water depth is 7 feet (2.1 m), with the deepest point being 12 feet (3.7 m). During the rainy season, this can increase by 5 feet (1.5 m).

Roku 2015 zařadilo UNESCO jezero Inle do programu Člověk a biosféra. Jezero s okolím patří k nejvýznamnějším turistickým atrakcím země.

Road to Burma

This video follows the journey made by my partner and I to Burma in 2010 from Yangon to Mandalay. We took a variety of trains and buses to get to our destinations. The video only shows our train travel. Along the way, we visit: Yangon, Kalaw, Inle Lake, Mandalay and Bagan. (travelman56@me.com)

The second leg of our journey begins in Kalaw and ends at Inle Lake. We wanted to hike the trail down to the lake, but I was a little concerned about my partner's health at that point. Needless to say, our time was nothing short of magical there. I really loved watching the fisherman on the boats manipulate the oar with one leg while casting the nets with their free hands. This is done nowhere else in the world!

The third part of my Journey to Burma begins in Mandalay where we do a river journey to the ancient site of Bagan and its many hundreds of temples. From there we eventually returned to Yangon and the Shwedagon Pagoda, where we end the day watching thousands of bats (thanks to a friendly monk) stream out of the stupas from the less touristed side.
