One Dollar Beach near Manleu - one of the best beaches in Timor Leste.
It's around 40 min driving from dili. This site is good not just for swimming, but also for hiking and snorkelling and picnics. The infrastructure has been redeveloped and is kinda new although I for one don't fancy the style of the new concrete double-deckers. The old bamboo huts were cozier and more authentic.

A Tourist's Guide to Dili, East Timor/Timor Leste
How to spend 24-hours in Dili, capital of one of the newest countries in the world.
After a short hop aboard Nam Air from Bali, I land in sleepy Dili. The Hotel Timor is a good base to explore the city on foot, where I see the Presidential Palace, the Santa Cruz Massacre Memorial, the port area and a church. I see lots of great statues along the way, too.
Then I catch a taxi to the Christ monument, and make it to the top to admire the view. After a brief stop by Dili Lighthouse, I end my day in Timor Plaza, where I enjoy a cooling beer in a rooftop restaurant.

A great weekend adventure in East Timor - motorbike trip from Dili to the Balibo memorial where 5 Australian journalists were killed in 1975 by the Indonesian army.
Cozy villages, spectacular views, friendly locals. The road condition is actually not so bad.
East Timor
Spent a couple of weeks in Asia's newest country, East Timor, and road tripped to the furthest southeast point in Asia. Sleeping in hammocks on the beach across from Jaco Island and hitchhiking in the back of an open pickup for hours during a monsoon are just a couple of memorable moments from this journey.
Hiking up to Foho Melau and Chisto Rei at Christmas 2016, Dili Timor Leste
It was a lovely day with perfect weather for hiking. The mountains around Christo Rei are great for light hiking and offer nice views over Dolok Oan beach. Can definitely recommend.
Although Christo Rei and Areia Branca itself are one of my least favourite places in Dili because of noisy crouds of people, loud motorbikes and dirty beach. It's really stupid to spend weekends there while there're so many better places with beaches around Dili. You have to be really undemanding and lazy to opt for Area Branca as a leisure spot.
