Nicaragua is a country we are excited to explore. After few days in the north part of the country we move South with the intent to explore this hidden Island called Ometepe.
We stay one week, this is a perfect amount of time to explore it without rushing. There are lots of activities to do like, kayaking, horse riding, wind surfing, hiking, yoga, swimming and eating.
The island is quite raw, you won't find resorts or anything fancy but there is big community of expect, especially on the East side. Here you will find vegan restaurant and cafes, permaculture farm hostels and much more.
We are excited to show you this beautiful place and we hope you'll like it too.

Ometempe is an island paradise located in the center of lake Nicaragua. Made up of two volcanos there are plenty of outdoor activities to do! We recommend renting a motor bike for your visit as the island is not too walkable. We hope this video helps you have an amazing time in Nicaragua!

In this video, we'll be exploring Nicaragua's Hidden Gem, the amazing waterfall at San Ramon Matagalpa. Situated on the gorgeous Ometepe Island, this stunning waterfall is well worth a visit!
If you're looking for a fun activity in Ometepe island, then this waterfall is definitely worth a visit! I would highly recommend coming here on an ATV or a Quad because it will shorten the hike significantly. Plus the ride over from Moyogalpa is soo beautiful. You get to see both sides of the island and pass by the beautiful lake and beaches. Not only is the scenery stunning, but the waterfall itself is packed with activity – perfect for anyone who loves swimming! After watching this video, you'll have a deeper understanding of the beauty and activity that surrounds the San Ramon Matagalpa waterfall!

We travel to our favourite place in the entire country and possibly the world, Ometepe Island in the middle of Lake Nicaragua. A place where we could live and never leave. Time feels like it stands still in this peaceful, tropical paradise.

Spotlight on Nicaragua | Day 3 - A Chocolate Paradise in Ometepe
Did you know there is an organic chocolate factory and hostel right in between the two volcanos of Ometepe Island? ????
I didn't have time to stay here on my trip but I have plans to return on my next visit and spend a few nights here! On my short visit, I found El Pital to be in a beautiful location, have amazing food and drink options and plenty of activities to participate in.
At El Pital they have a range of accomodation options from doms to private cabanas to suit most travellers.
While on site, you can participate in daily morning yoga classes, acro yoga, sunset yoga, chocolate factory tours, tastings and cacao ceremonies!

Hidden Lakeside Paradise On Ometepe Island Nicaragua ????????
Rosa's Lake Cabins, Merida, Ometepe Island, Nicaragua ????????
We stayed at Rosa's lake cabins on the shore of Lake Cocibolca (Lake Nicaragua) with Rosa, Luis and their beautiful family. The lakefront cabin was incredible and in just a few steps we had the most amazing view of Concepcion volcano.
The hospitality we were shown was incredible and we thank them so much for everything they did for us. We were the only guests due to tourism numbers still being down but this meant we had this stunning lakeside paradise all for ourselves!
We cannot recommend this place enough its one of the greatest places we have stayed in the whole of Latin America.
