Day 1, April 15 – Arrival, Muscat Muttrah, Old Souk, sleepover in Muscat.
Day 2, April 16 – Dolphin watching, driving, sleepover in Sur.
Day 3, April 17 – Bimmah Sinkhole, Wadi Shab, driving to the Wahiba Sands, sleepover in the dessert.
Day 4, April 18 – Wadi Bani Khalid, driving, Birkat Al Mouz Ruins, sleepover in Nizwa.
Day 5, April 19 – Late wake-up, private guided tour to Jabrin Castle, Bahla Fort, Jebel Shams, sleepover in Nizwa.
Day 6, April 20 – Nizwa Old Souk, Nizwa Fort, driving to Muscat, Azaiba Beach, departure.

Oman Road Trip - The ultimate itinerary for a self-guided camping trip
In this video, I will show how you to best see Oman on a road trip. I do not call it the ultimate itinerary for a self-guided camping trip for no reason. We have gone through numerous Oman guide books and blogs and eventually turned all this information into this itinerary for 12 days.
We start in Oman's capital Muscat where you will see the Mutrah Fort, the corniche, the Old City Gate, the Mutrah Souq, the Sultan's Palace and the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. From there we will begin the Oman road trip. First stop is the Hawiyyat Nadschm, a surreal meteorite crater. Then the Oman road trip leads into the mountains where you should visit the Madschlis al-Jinn, a 170-meter-deep hole in the ground, followed by Wadi Shab and Wadi Tiwi.
Next destination is the town of Sur and small villages along the coast of Oman. We then make our way to Masirah Island where we climb the island's highest mountain, Jebel Humr.
The next destinations are the Old Town and the Souq in Ibra as well as gorgeous Wadi Bani Khalid. From there, we continue into the Sharquiya Sands Desert before exploring the Al-Hoota Cave.
Our Oman trip then leads through Wadi Ghul and up Oman's highest mountain Jebel Shams, before visiting the Tanuf ruins and the animal market in Nizwa.
An adventurous off-road track leads us back to the coast where we visit the fish market of Barka before heading back to Muscat.

INSANE 4X4 WILD CAMPING ROADTRIP IN OMAN

I joined a Bedouin family in Oman in their camp and learned more about the fascinating life under the burning sun of Wahiba / Sharqiya Sands.

OMAN - Road Trip to Mutrah, Sur and Jebel Shams
We started our road trip in Oman heading from the capital Muscat to Mutrah and visiting to old Souq. We then down the coast of the Arabian Sea to city of Sur before heading back inland to Wahiba Sands. Stayed overnight at a Desert Night Camp before heading to the stunning Jebel Shams. Along the way we stopped at a few Museums and watering holes wadi's.
What beautifully stunning countryside, everywhere we went the Omani people were so welcoming and friendly. If you haven't visited Oman, put it on your bucket list you wont be disappointed.
Road tripping is definitely the way to go.

Omani Heartland 8 Night Guided Self-Drive Adventure
Join us for an awesome 8 day guided self-drive adventure taking you through central Oman. We'll explore the Al Huqf Escarpment, drive through the incredible Rub al Khali (The Empty Quarter) and discover a few wadis in the foothills of the Hajar Mountains.
Approx 2000kms including 750kms offroad
Estimated 34 hours behind the wheel, half of it offroad
3 nights Hotel (including two 4*)
1 night “glamping” at a traditional camel farm
4 nights wild camping
No previous offroad driving experience is required.
Maximum 6 guest cars.
We do not have any fixed dates for this tour; so if your group of friends, relatives or colleagues would like to take part in this, please do get in touch. Minimum number of participants 6 adults in 3 cars. We have availability in early October 2022, late February and early March 2023.

After crossing the border, getting some camp gear, and figuring out how to pack our tiny SUV we finally started our road trip through Oman. The first part was all about the Wadis and the famous Bimmah sinkhole!

We drove over 4200 km across the unexplored and beautiful country of Oman. We made friends with young and old Omanis, discovered absolutely stunning landscapes and captured our entire experience in this film.
Together with my friends Lucas, Dominik and Vivi, we explored the Sultanate of Oman in the course of twelve days. On our way from the North to the South of Oman, we came across deserts, beautiful beaches, mountains over 3000m high and the amazing Wadis.
