Oslo Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia

Oslo – Welcome to the capital of Norway. A visit to this south coast city means a trip into its fascinating past. Check out the top attractions in Oslo.

When ready, browse vacation packages to Oslo:

A #vacation to #Oslo brings you to the same waters once traversed by Viking longships centuries ago. Norway’s rich connection to the sea did not stop with the Vikings; #visit the Viking Ship Museum and several other educational complexes dedicated to the salt water that flows through Oslo’s veins.

Prepare yourself for an evening of extraordinary live performances at the Oslo Opera House. Besides being a popular performing arts venue, it’s also a popular place for locals to meet before heading out into town.

If you plan your Oslo #sightseeing during the summer, prepare yourself for long days of endless sunshine. Oslo’s position in the northern hemisphere ensures that the sun does not set until after 11 o’clock at night during the warm season. Who said you couldn’t get more hours in the day?

For now, we hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

Oslo Travel Guide 2022 - Best Places to Visit in Oslo Norway in 2022

Oslo, the capital of Norway, sits on the country’s southern coast at the head of the Oslofjord. It’s known for its green spaces and museums. Many of these are on the Bygdøy Peninsula, including the waterside Norwegian Maritime Museum and the Viking Ship Museum, with Viking ships from the 9th century. The Holmenkollbakken is a ski-jumping hill with panoramic views of the fjord. It also has a ski museum.

Norway is a Scandinavian country encompassing mountains, glaciers and deep coastal fjords. Oslo, the capital, is a city of green spaces and museums. Preserved 9th-century Viking ships are displayed at Oslo’s Viking Ship Museum. Bergen, with colorful wooden houses, is the starting point for cruises to the dramatic Sognefjord. Norway is also known for fishing, hiking and skiing, notably at Lillehammer’s Olympic resort.

24 hours in Oslo / 1 Day in Oslo - Travel guide by an Englishman who used to live there

Oslo - the capital of Norway. A city I used to live in for almost 5 years on a part-time basis. A city I would regularly commute to from London. And a city I hadn't visited since. I found myself back in Oslo for just over 24 hours on a very cold dark day. However, despite the cold and the darkness, I was ready to explore to see if anything had changed since I was last there.

I’m documenting a lot of travel lately simply for prosperity purposes - Its fantastic that I can share those experiences also via YouTube.
Thank you kindly for watching, commenting, liking and even sharing these videos I try to respond to every comment (good and bad).

Oslo is a must-visit location because of its amazing fusion of a large city and a nature reserve with lovely parks and green spaces. Oslo was ranked as the second greenest and most environmentally friendly city in 2007 due to its location between the Oslo Fjord and lush hills covered with woods. You can unwind in a lovely park in the city's center if you take a stroll, and Oslo Fjord's stunning beaches are just a 10-minute boat ride away. However, there are many other attractions, museums, art galleries, and stores in the capital of Norway.

And keep in mind, Edvard Munch, Oslo's foremost painter, must be studied before departing. The National Gallery and the Munch Museum both have paintings by this tortured and gifted artist on exhibit. You don't need to go inside a museum to appreciate the creative sensibility of this city. Gustav Vigeland created 212 statues for the Vigeland Park, one of Oslo's most well-liked tourist attractions. We recommend the activities in Oslo that you simply must not miss!

Oslo

Rick Steves' Europe Travel Guide © 2010 | The proud spirit of the Norwegian people shines in every dimension of their capital city — from its once-fearsome Viking ships to its sleek new Opera House, from a fun folk museum that keeps traditions alive to the constant festival of its thriving harborfront. Connecting with the culture, we enjoy art — from Vigeland's statues to Munch's scream — and join local friends for a boat ride on their fjord. #ricksteves #ricksteveseurope #oslo
