Korean Market Tour | Jeonju Nambu Market, Sundae, Bibimbap, Kongnamul Gukbap, Gourmet Market

There is a market that you must not miss when traveling to Jeonju. Jeonju Nambu Market, a 5-minute walk from Hanok Village, is also a place where can taste all Jeonju food. Before covid19, the night market was also open to provide more colorful food, but now it has been temporarily suspended. Please enjoy the appearance of Nambu Market, which is still a must-visit course.

The Ultimate Korean Bibimbap and Attractions in Jeonju (Day 7)

On Day 7 in South Korea, my wife and I were in Jeonju, South Korea. For lunch we had the ultimate version of Korean bibimbap, which is rice mixed salad, and a dish Jeonju is very famous for. For the remainder of the day, we visited some of the most famous attractions in Jeonju.

00:41 300Zip (삼백집) for breakfast - We woke up in the morning and started off the day with a trip to a famous restaurant called 300Zip (삼백집) to eat a Korean Jeonju dish called gukbap, which is a bean sprout and rice soup. The soup included rice, bean sprouts, eggs, sesame seeds, and some other small vegetables. Additionally it was served with another fried egg on the side. It was a soothing way to start the morning in Jeonju.

3:57 Lunch at Gajok Hoegwan (가족회관) - For lunch we went to this restaurant which is legendary in Jeonju for serving an original version of bibimbap, Korean mixed rice salad. The bibimbap cost 12,000 Won ($10.05) per person, and it included an unbelievable mixture of colorful toppings. I thought it was amazing to watch them making the bibimbap, all within brass personal pans, heated on the stove at just the right temperature, and all the ingredients delicately added to the bibimbap. It was one of the best versions of bibimbap I’ve ever had. It was so simple, yet because of the variety of ingredients and the combination, that’s what made it complex.

10:51 Jeonju Hanok Village - One of the most famous things to do in Jeonju is to walk around the Jeonju Hanok Village, the old village of the city. It’s one of the main attractions that people from all over Korea come to see and experience. There are many things to do within the Jeonju Hanok Village including lots of snacks and restaurants, a hand made paper factory, all sorts of museums, and a number of shrines. Another one of the highlights of visiting the hanok village is to get dressed up in traditional Korean hanbok clothing, and walk around and take photos. So Ying and I rented costumes and walked around. The best Korean snack I had while walking around the village was an skewer of grilled octopus covered in cheese. I never thought the combination would go together so well, but somehow it worked really well.

23:18 Gyodong Tteokgalbi (교동 떡갈비) Restaurant - For dinner we ate at a restaurant within the Jeonju Hanok Village known for serving tteokgalbi, which is a Korean dish of minced short ribs, marinated and grilled on your tabletop. It was my first time to have this Korean dish, and along with all the different side dishes and vegetables, it was delicious.

Day 7 in Korea was an amazing day of visiting attractions in Jeonju and eating one of the most complex and delicious bowls of Korean bibimbap that I’ve ever tried.

The Nambu Traditiional Night Market is a must visit when in Jeonju, South Korea.

Nambu Market is located outside Pungnammun Gate of Jeonju Hanok Village and only trades as a night market on Friday and Saturday from 4pm to 12am. This was definitely one of our favourite food markets in South Korea as there were so many unique food finds.

Traditional Korean Food in Jeonju! | South Korea Travel Vlog

We try Jeonju Bibimbap! It's a traditional Korean food consisting of a rice bowl with different ingredients. We went to a highly rated restaurant and nearly burned off all of our taste buds with the spice. It was good! Then we explored. Sadly, we missed the night market due to our timing (it's only on Friday and Saturday in Jeonju).

The next day we tried any and all of the street food/vendor food we wanted! That included haddeok, potato tornado, sugared strawberry sticks, and a couple other things! Including Brianna's new favorite treat - octopus.

If you're looking for a place to stay in Jeonju right in the in Hanok VIllage - we suggest Starlight Rest Area. We loved both the place and the owners. They were excellent!

Episode 123
__________
About Us

We met in college and started a five year journey to graduate, get jobs, pay off student loans and save money to travel. After getting married we bought a one way ticket to Greece in July of 2021 and have been traveling around the Globe since. Living abroad definitely brings some unique experiences.

These laidback Youtube videos will be our way of keeping in touch with family and friends as we explore different countries, try new and strange foods (and of course pizza), and see how many times we can avoid airplane fares. These homevideos will be the only souvenir we end up with at the end (only because nothing else will fit in our bags).

Special thank you to Dan Gray, who took us on this Korean street food tour. You can follow him at and #KoreanFood #KoreanStreetFood #Netflix

STREET FOOD NETFLIX - Seoul, South Korea

I did enjoy watching the Street Food Netflix show, especially the amazing cinematography and the amazing stories of the people behind the food. However, there wasn’t much emphasis, if any, on the eating part of the street food. So I happen to be in Seoul for a few days, and I happen to know Dan Gray ( who helped arrange the Seoul Street Food Netflix episode, and so he took us on the same tour, except this time, focused on eating everything.

Here are the places covered in the Street Food Netflix, Korean street food in Seoul episode:

Gwangjang Market - Most of the entire episode was filmed at the famous Gwangjang Market, a market I’ve been to many times, and is a must visit for Korean food lovers in Seoul.

Yoonsun Cho - Gohyang Kalguksu Stall - Most of the Netflix Seoul episode was based around Yoonsun Cho and her incredible kalguksu, hand made knife cut noodles. They were very home-style tasting, very comforting and delicious. She also serves a number of other dishes including nangmyeon, and seaweed noodles, all of which were very good. Her sauce is also amazing, and her kimchi. Price - 5,000 KRW ($4.21) per bowl

Honglim Banchan Stall - Probably the most delicious food on this entire Korean street food tour Netflix episode was the soy marinated crab from Honglim Banchan Stall. The crab was melt in your mouth and the marinade was perfect. Even better is when she scooped out some roe and mixed it with rice in the shell.

Bindae-tteok stall - There’s an entire section of Korean street food dedicated to bindae-tteok at Gwangjang Market. Along with these crispy mung bean pancakes, we also ordered Yukhoe, Korean raw beef with egg and pear. Price - 30,000 KRW ($25.27) total

Dongdaemun Food Street - Finally, the last thing in the Street Food Netflix episode of Seoul was the Baffle, a unique creation of rice made into a waffle, filled and topped with all sorts of interesting things. Price - 4,000 KRW ($3.37)

It was a fun Korean street food tour, and we all had a great time eating and meeting the friendly vendors from the show.

Jeonju Hanok Village, Korean Street Food, Bibimbap & Night Market✨ | A Day In Jeonju

Greetings from Jeonju! ????✨ I'm thrilled to bring you along on a day-trip to the historical and stunning city of Jeonju. Known for its Hanok-style houses, breathtaking landscapes, and mouthwatering bibimbap, Jeonju holds a special place in our hearts. My friends and I embarked on a 1 hour and 20-minute express bus journey from Daejeon to Jeonju to kick off our adventure.

Our first destination was the China Town, followed by a visit to the charming Wanpanbon Culture Center. Next up, we explored the renowned Hanok Village, where traditional houses, springtime vibes, and elegant Hanboks abound. If you're a K-drama enthusiast, you might recognize scenes from 25-21 filmed right here in Jeonju. We couldn't resist visiting the iconic Hanbyeok Tunnel and indulging in the delectable street food offerings. Be sure to sample the famous 10-won coin bread filled with cheese as well as the perfectly seasoned squid. Before returning to the KAIST campus, we leisurely wandered through the bustling Nambu Night Market, sampling grilled meats, Mandus, savory pancakes, and the irresistibly delicious Hotteok.

I hope you enjoyed this blend of serenity and excitement on our day-trip in Jeonju. Until the next adventure! ????❤️

KOREAN Cuisine: TOUR JEONJU KOREA 전주 WITH ME: EAT Traditional Food #Markets #PNBChocoPies! You may be familiar with Jeonju for it's famous bibimbap, but in this tour, we try beansprout soup 콩나물 국, seaweed (gim) and bulgogi! Before we head to PNB to try their delicious choco pies, we first stop off at the Jeonju palace in the Jeonju hanok maul 전주한옥마을 and the handicraft street market opposite the cathedral. These are all little experiences that I love to revisit every time I travel to Jeonju.

Andi, Rachael and I try the PNB cream cheese, strawberry, and green tea choco pies. Can you guess which one is our favourite?

Made in collaboration with 2021AdventureKorea. Thanks so much for a memorable experience.

I turn 41 this May! I've been told I look much younger. Secrets to my incredible energy and health include my healthy eating habits, meditation practice, and my LifeVantange nutrition suppliments. I take Protandim NRF2 Synergizer every morning with a glass of lemon water. I've been taking these suppliments for 18 months, and after just three months of taking Protandim, I stopped losing so much hair, and I was able to get into yoga positions I haven't been able to do since my early twenties. A few months ago, I realized that my circulation and veins have improved when I noticed that a mass of purple spider veins on my left shin had almost disappeared. I highly recommend Protandim NRF2.
