visiting the Dead Sea in Israel

Join us on a very special journey from cosmopolitan Tel Aviv to the Dead Sea, Israel - one of the world’s most amazing natural wonders. The Dead Sea is situated approximately 433 meters below sea level, at the lowest point on earth, and it draws hundreds of thousands of tourists from all over the world all year round. In January 2020, our host couple enjoyed a short getaway exploring the Dead Sea and all it has to offer. Although the peak of winter, it was the perfect mild weather to explore and relax. Let’s see what they got up to!

Just a couple of hours’ drive from Tel Aviv by car, our hosts stopped on the way at the sea-level line and at the “Last Chance” cafe to enjoy a delicious traditional Middle Eastern Breakfast. Then, they continued the drive down towards the Dead Sea region, with primeval desert views and even a friendly camel or two! First stop? The Ein Gedi Botanical Gardens, an idyllic natural haven featuring a wide variety of fauna native to the region, plus other species from around the world. Then, our Dead Sea adventure couple popped into the local spa to experience Dead Sea mud treatments and a perfect winter bathe in the indoor salt-rich pool.

The most unforgettable Dead Sea experience is floating on the dense salty waters. Just tie your hair back, lie down and feel the relaxing floating sensation as you soak your skin in the healthy, mineral-rich waters. You can do this just like our hosts at Ein Bokek Beach, where the magical Dead Sea waters are waiting for you with all the comforts and conveniences on the shore.

Last stop? An invigorating desert hike on Mount Sedom, where the lookout point offers spectacular views of the Dead Sea and the entire region.

The Dead Sea, Israel, is an area packed with every type of activity imaginable - historical and archaeological sites, nature hikes, extreme sports, like caving and rappelling, luxury spa treatments, jeep tours, sailing tours and much more. Everything you can possibly want - and more - is right here at the lowest point on earth. Want to create your own Dead Sea getaway? Plan your perfect vacation at
