Greenland - Since 8 years I'm traveling to this magical country. Today quiet and untouched places are becoming more and more rare. On my first visit to Greenland, I was fascinated by the incredible power of nature that can be felt everywhere. But during the last years things have changed. The amount of icebergs is increasing savagely. Glaciers I'm visiting every year are retreating not meters but kilometers a year and the unending amount of ice seems to be endless. There is nothing more beautiful than an iceberg - everyone is unique and the light reflecting from its surface is magical. It's sad how close beauty and decay can be seen in an iceberg. This movie is is an appreciation to the ice - for me the most amazing aggregate state of water.

Behind the scenes
For this short film I travelled to Greenland with my drones several times. Always with the target of a certain region in a certain light situation. The shots from the calving glacier took me 4 days at the Eqi Glacier and over 70 battery charges for only 4 usable shots of a few seconds. It's a very hard intention to film the very right moment on a glacier front of about 6km wide - especially close up. But the hardest thing of flying in Greenland is the fact, that every 2-3 minutes the difference between the magnetic north and the geographic north (which are not the same place - especially so far north) causing a fatal p-gps flight error and the drone is flying away (also the camera's horizon). But at the end every single flight was worth it - filming Icebergs from above is one of the most beautiful things I've ever done. Additionally I used the drone to scout the landing spot and look for polar bears. The best thing for bears and humans is to not meet each other on shore.

Who are Kara and Nate?!
Watch our documentary here:

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.” I was a teacher and Nate started a small printing business from the spare bedroom of our apartment. We discovered the world of “travel hacking” & became obsessed. So after 2 years of obsessively saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year” trip around the world. Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went home to “normal life.” We started this travel vlog to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with this lifestyle and did everything we could to keep going. 4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time. Van life was a major adjustment and so different than flying every week like we were used to, but we are incredibly thankful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. ????????????

I have just arrived in SVALBARD, Northern Norway. It's the northernmost inhabited place on earth, with more polar bears than residents. In the summer months, like right now, the sun brightens up the sky 24 hours a day, and in the wintertime, it's exactly the opposite.

I'm here a few days early before our Hurtigruten expedition sailing kicks off to Eastern Greenland and Iceland! Stay tuned for some fascinating stories about the people, culture, wildlife and nature from the Arctic over the coming 2 weeks!

Just curious, how many of you guys have actually heard of Svalbard before?

8 Places on Earth Where the Sun Never Sets | Midnight Sun Countries

There are several places on Earth where the sun never sets, also known as the Land of the Midnight Sun. These are located in the polar regions, where the sun remains above the horizon for at least 24 hours during the summer solstice. Here are eight countries where you can experience the phenomenon of the Midnight Sun:

1. Norway: In Norway, the midnight sun can be seen in the northern parts of the country, including Svalbard, Tromsø, and the North Cape. The sun never sets between late May and late July.

2. Finland: In Finland, the midnight sun can be seen in the northern regions, including Lapland, from early June to early July.

3. Sweden: The northern parts of Sweden, including the city of Kiruna, experience the midnight sun from early June to mid-July.

4. Russia: The Arctic regions of Russia, including Murmansk, experience the midnight sun from early June to early July.

5.Canada: In Canada, the midnight sun can be seen in the northern parts of the country, including the Yukon and Northwest Territories. It can be seen from late May to mid-July.

6.Greenland: In Greenland, the midnight sun can be seen in the northern parts of the country, including the town of Qaanaaq. It can be seen from late April to late August.

7. Iceland: Iceland experiences the midnight sun from late May to mid-July, and it can be seen in the northern parts of the country, including the town of Akureyri.

8. United States: In the state of Alaska, the midnight sun can be seen in the northern regions, including Barrow and Utqiagvik, from late May to late July.

Snowfall in The Lofoten Islands, Norway, Nature Sounds for Sleep, Hamnøy and Reine | 4K

Spent a month traveling Norway and Recorded many sounds around the Lofoten Islands. These shots were particularly shot in Hamnøy and Reine which are very close. Reine, in my opinion is the most beautiful town in The Lofoten Islands and attracts many photographers year around. Hamnøy is very beautiful as well and a bit calmer. Enjoy!

Greenland & Iceland Cruise on NCL Star

We boarded the Norwegian Star in Reykjavik Iceland and headed to Greenland. Three ports were planned but due to heavy fog the ship wasn't able to reach Paamiut Greenland on schedule. We did visit Nanortalik and Nuuk Greenland. We then headed back to Iceland but again due to heavy fog our first port Grundarfjordur was missed. We did stop in Akureyri and Isafjordur before heading back to Reykjavik. some music by
