'The Privileged' Store in North Korea - Part 1

====================================================
Ok, so this is my 46th video that I uploaded, many people asked me..
How could you upload youtube video in NK?.
He uploads the video after he back to Indonesia, because he didn't dare if he upload directly from NK.
Nope..that is not entirely True..

#jakaparker #northkorea #koreautara

The answer is..

I already back to Indonesia, and currently I live in Indonesia..
My first 23 videos was uploaded when I was in North Korea.

The most different thing that when I uploaded video in NK, for a 15 minute video needed two days to upload, because the internet there was unstable due to electricity on off several times in a day..I can’t subscribe for cellular internet mobile because its way too expensive and..not reliable too...
but..when in Indonesia, I can choose which provider for internet and to upload a 15 minute video need only few minutes...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OK..
back to this video..
I was going to a store which was located inside the Diplomatic Compound in Munsu District, behind Vietnam Embassy (you can check it out in Google Maps)
Sure..because these videos is about my daily life in NK...so I only posted about my routines things that I am doing in NK).

This store named Pyongyang Shop, which only several people who can access inside, only Foreigners and local Korean people who can get permission to be inside Diplomatic Compound (usually Korean people who works for foreign Organisations and embassies).

Btw.. sorry for bad English and Korean..

Any viewers who understand Korean language might be laughing hearing me trying to make conversations with the locals..please pardon me.

Dennis Rodman and Harlem Globetrotters in North Korea - FULL KCNA TV Spot

This is the full KCNA TV Spot from the Dennis Rodman and Harlem Globetrotters trip to North Korea.

North Korea - Visiting as a Tourist.

Australian filmmaker Mark Shea ( takes a trip to North Korea (The People's Democratic Republic of Korea) with Young Pioneer Tours.
Listening to the news, watching hatchet job videos on youtube, anyone would believe North Korea was a dangerous place to visit. I myself as a travel video producer was a little concerned before entering, afraid my camera equipment would be confiscated at the border. Instead what I found was a country just starting to open to tourism. I was treated like royalty and allowed to pretty much film anything I wanted, other than groups of soldiers.
At the moment, to visit the DPRK one must go with a tour company. I myself went with Young Pioneer Tours who run small group tours for westerners at a budget price. The other options are going with a Chinese tour which are larger and, from what I saw, tend to rush groups through locations quicker. Young Pioneer Tours work in North Korea with two local guides. They have been running tours to North Korea since 2008, so they know how the DPRK works better than anyone. The tours are highly organised and, as tourism is a relatively new endeavour, tend to focus on viewing sites more than interacting with locals. For someone who makes travel videos focusing on meeting the locals, this was a new experience for me, but I still found there were plenty of chances to chat with our guides and various other guides throughout the tour.
The first thing that hits you when you travel by train into North Korea is how lush and green it is, every available space is used to grow food such as corn and rice. It looks like an agrarian wonderland, hills of rolling green dotted with small villages. On closer inspection, one notices the lack of machinery, the ox and cart, everything from cutting grass to ploughing fields, done by hand. The contrast with the enormity of China is startling.
Arriving in the capital Pyongyang, the next thing to hit you, is the lack of cars, no roadblocks, no bottlenecks, just wide open boulevards. The footpaths on the other hand are full of people, walking, riding bikes, always on the move. The public transport system includes electric buses and a two line subway system.
Our tour took in three main locations; sites around the capital -- Pyongyang, Kaesong -- the capital of Korea during the Koryo Dynasty and the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ)
I'm not going to go into every detail of the tour, but there were many highlights. In each location we were given ample opportunity to take any photos we pleased (apart from photographing groups of military)
Highlights for me in Pyongyang included the amazing murals and statues. I particularly liked the quirky 'music room' full of boomboxes in the Grand People's Study House.
Kaesong, the ancient capital of Korea, is like a tourism boom town waiting to happen. It did not escape me that we were the only group walking the quaint cobbled streets surrounded by traditional houses. Visiting the museum and learning of the history of the Koryo period, I thought to recent history, political movements, and how only sixty years have made the two Korea's, North and South, so distinguishable.
The demilitarised zone really took me by surprise. I was expecting stern faced soldiers ready for attack. Instead I discovered bus loads of Chinese tourists, snapping photos with obliging soldiers.
I'd read a fair bit about North Korea before I traveled there, I'm well aware of it's problems. But I also believe tourism can have positive effects on a country. What we are seeing in North Korea is a change, a change I believe will be for the better.
There is a lot you won't be able to talk about with your North Korean Guides on current tours and there is a lot of the country you won't see. BUT if you want to see a country like nothing else on earth, at a fascinating stage in history, North Korea is well and truly open for tourism!
Be quick, the winds of change blow strong in the year of a Rising Dragon.

If you like the podcast, please leave a review in the podcast app you listen from, and share a link to the podcast on Facebook and Twitter to invite others to become Weirdos too!
IN THIS EPISODE: Like an episode of the Twilight Zone, a Qantas flight had to make an emergency landing when a hole appeared seemingly out of nowhere, puncturing in the fuselage and causing the cabin to suddenly lose pressure. Could it truly be possible that gremlins are to blame? (Gremlins On The Attack) *** We’ll also hear from a former member of the Royal Air Force with his own thoughts and research about gremlins. (The Gremlin Question) *** On December 13, 1932, Edna Murray made her escape from the Women’s state penitentiary at Jefferson City, Missouri. The “Kissing Bandit” had escaped again… for the third time. (Escape of the Kissing Bandit) *** A college student reads about how his college is haunted – which might explain the strange goings-on in his dorm room. (Invisible Stalker) *** They worked in great secrecy. Their goal was to create a society without a King and Church. They were the Illuminati… but do they still exist? (Secret Society of the Illuminati) *** Greensboro student Maddie thought her apartment might be haunted when clothes vanished and noises came out of nowhere. The truth was even more terrifying. (Closet Criminal) *** Is it possible that OJ Simpson’s son Jason was the true killer of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown? (O.J. Simpson: A Killer In The Family) *** After murdering his wife and attempting to kill his children, then unsuccessfully trying to kill himself, Henry Rathbone claimed it was all due to a curse he believed he brought onto himself – which began at the death of the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. (The Assassination Curse) *** Is a modern-day wolf-man prowling the woods of central England? (Something Sinister at a Cemetery) *** What compelled young priests in training to commit suicide in Room 2 of Ireland’s national seminary? (The Ghost Room of Maynooth) *** An Oxford University professor claims aliens are already breeding with humans on earth – could he be right? (Are Aliens Breeding With Humans?) *** Is it possible that the Early Middle Ages, years 614-911 A.D. never existed? That’s the claim of an extremely controversial theory. (The Phantom Time Hypothesis) *** A man is convinced his Swedish grandmother continues to look in on him, even years after her death. (The Seventh Daughter of the Seventh Daughter)

HAGEN HISTORY CENTER TOUR: ERIE HISTORY, AMERICAN HISTORY! (4K)

My niece and I were given a private tour of the Hagen History Center in Erie, PA. by Executive Director George Deutsch, one month before its Grand ReOpening! If you like learning about history, then you are going to love this tour. It covers Erie history, which as you will see, is a big part of American history. We saw the Research Library; the archives with thousands of items, including Commodore Perry's sword that was used in the Battle of Lake Erie in the War of 1812; the New Exhibit Building which was built to house the new Frank Lloyd Wright Exhibit, including his original San Francisco office which was transferred and reassembled here! This is a must for any Frank Lloyd Wright fan. We then saw where the Erie Extension Canal was and learned about its history through the Erie Extension Canal Exhibit. We then visited the Wood-Morrison House which featured exhibits on Erie and the Navy and the Admiral Thomas Weschler Military Gallery. Throughout this tour, we learned about the enormous contributions that the people of Erie have made to this country through their military service.

This tour was arranged for us by VisitErie, Erie County's tourism promotion agency, and the sponsor of this video. When planning your trip to visit the Hagen History Center and Erie's other museums and attractions, please check out their website,

A Swedish Legacy: The 1940-41 Wenner-Gren Expedition to Hispanic America 1

.A seminar with Professor Ilja A. Luciak: Time: June, 13th, 18:00 - 19:30. Place: The library of the Institute of Latin American Studies, B5 at Stockholm University. Language: English
Axel Wenner-Gren, the Swedish tycoon, visionary, and philanthropist founded Electrolux and built it into one of the crown jewels of his global economic empire. However, his contributions remain largely unknown, particularly to the world of science.During January and February 1939, Wenner-Gren met President Manuel Prado of Peru and was introduced to a culture that captured his imagination, as evidenced by the subsequent expeditions he came to sponsor. The expedition's members discovered and explored several well-known sites along the Inca trail leading up to Machu Picchu. The area comprising the expedition's explorations was officially denominated the Wenner-Gren National Park, the expedition's leaders were recognized with the highest academic honors for their contributions and the expedition's collections were presented to museums in Peru and the United States. Peruvian President Manuel Prado bestowed the Order of the Sun on Axel Wenner-Gren and Paul Fejos, respectively, the expedition's sponsor and its leader. Finally, the legacy of the expedition includes the creation of the Archeology department at Cuzco's Universidad de San Antonio Abad.
Ilja A. Luciak is a Professor in Political Science at the Virgina Tech University. His research interests include democratic theory and gender politics, revolutionary movements, reproductive rights, and globalization. For the past thirty years, Dr. Luciak has conducted field research in Central America, Cuba and Colombia focusing on gender equality and democratization. Recent publications include a multi-year study on Gender Equality and Democratization in Central America and Cuba and After the Revolution: Gender and Democracy in El Salvador, Nicaragua and Guatemala (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2001). He is currently completing a book manuscript, entitled The Electrolux King: Reality and Myth in the Life of Axel Wenner-Gren.
