Alofi Waterfront - Niue Island - South Pacific - Drone Video
Alofi is the capital of Niue.
The island nation of Niue sits by itself in the South Pacific Ocean about 1,500 miles from New Zealand. It consists of a large coral atoll inhabited by about 1,500 souls, who hold dual citizenship with New Zealand, and speak both English and Nuiean. Nearly half of them live in the capital, Alofi. Activities for visitors are focused around the natural environment, swimming and snorkeling in the clear seas, exploring the many caves that honeycomb the limestone island, whale watching and fishing, and golf on the resort courses.

The Limu Pools are located in north-west Niue and the place is easily accessible via a footpath from the main road, leading down to the Pacific Ocean.
One of the most beautiful swimming and snorkelling areas on the northern coast of the island, the crystal clear waters of Limu hold a wide variety of fish life and caves to explore. The mixture of salt and fresh water flowing out from the island provides a refreshing and unique snorkelling experience. The track to Limu is clearly marked at the northern end of Namukulu Village and has wonderful picnic areas available.

Talava Arches - Niue Island - South Pacific - Drone Video

Talava Arches - Niue Island - South Pacific - Drone Video
Three large sea arches known as Talava Arches are located very close together on this South Pacific island nation of Niue, which is located about 1500 miles NE of New Zealand.
The Talava Arches are among the most spectacular landmarks, and the maze of caves, rock pools and coral formations are worth the half-hour rugged and sometimes slippery hike (take sturdy footwear) to the arches.

TRAVEL TIPS: NIUE

2,400 kilometers northeast of New Zealand and a part of the triangle formed by the Kingdom of Tonga to the west, the Samoa's to the north and the Cook Islands to the east, sits Niue Island.

Niu ē translates to mean Behold the coconut but the land has been known by a few names in her time; Like the one Captain James Cook coined in 1774, Savage Island.
Legend has it; the natives that greeted him were painted in what appeared to Cook and his crew to be blood. It turns out that the suspicious substance on their teeth was from the harmless hulahula, a native red banana- But Cook wasn't so keen to stick around and find that out- so the name Savage Island stuck for a couple of centuries.
Niue is also affectionately known as The Rock of Polynesia due to the fact that it's one of the world's largest coral Islands. The landscape is made up of steep limestone cliffs that rise out of the ocean to impressive heights of up to 60 meters.
And to our coconet.tv travel guide Shimpal Lelisi -- Niue is simply called- Home. So who better to give you a guided tour? Jump in with Shim and take in the sights and sounds of this truly unique pacific Island.

Island of NIUE: Vertical cliffs, Anapala Chasm (collapsed river cave, Pacific Ocean) #travel #niue

Anapala Chasm, Island of Niue, Pacific Ocean - The Niue caves, the vertical cliffs of Anapala Chasm, collapsed river cave in Niue island. Let's travel to the island of Niue in the South Pacific Ocean to view the famous Anapala Chasm located in the eastern coast of Niue. Anapala chasm is a massive crack, a collapsed river cave, in the coral landscape of Niue.
In the island of Niue in the Pacific Ocean, 150 steps descend down between the absolutely vertical walls to the bottom of Anapala Chasm or slot canyons where there is a fresh water pool. In the past, this was one of the view springs of fresh water on the island as there are no rivers and all water just seeps down through the porous limestone. It’s dark at the bottom of the Anapala Chasm as light only gets here through the narrow slit above, and hiking down here you feel like Indiana Jones
Niue is a small island nation in the South Pacific Ocean. It’s known for its limestone cliffs and coral-reef dive sites. Migrating whales swim in Niue's waters between July and October. In the southeast is the Huvalu Forest Conservation Area, where trails through fossilized coral forests lead to the Togo and Vaikona chasms. The northwest is home to the rock pools of Avaiki Cave and the naturally formed Talava Arches.

map of Niue

Niue (/ˈnjuːeɪ/, /niːˈjuːeɪ/; Niuean: Niuē) is an island country in the South Pacific Ocean, 2,400 kilometres (1,500 mi) northeast of New Zealand. Niue's land area is about 261 square kilometres (101 sq mi) and its population, predominantly Polynesian, was about 1,600 in 2016. Niue is located in a triangle between Tonga, Samoa, and the Cook Islands. It is 604 kilometers northeast of Tonga. The island is commonly referred to as The Rock, which comes from the traditional name Rock of Polynesia. Niue is one of the world's largest coral islands. The terrain of the island has two noticeable levels. The higher level is made up of a limestone cliff running along the coast, with a plateau in the centre of the island reaching approximately 60 metres (200 feet) above sea level. The lower level is a coastal terrace approximately 0.5 km (0.3 miles) wide and about 25–27 metres (80–90 feet) high, which slopes down and meets the sea in small cliffs. A coral reef surrounds the island, with the only major break in the reef being in the central western coast, close to the capital, Alofi.

Niue is a self-governing state in free association with New Zealand, and New Zealand conducts most diplomatic relations on its behalf. As part of the Realm of New Zealand, Niueans are citizens of New Zealand and Queen Elizabeth II is Niue's head of state in her capacity as Queen of New Zealand. Between 90% and 95% of Niuean people live in New Zealand, along with about 70% of the speakers of the Niuean language. Niue is a bilingual country, with 30% of the population speaking both Niuean and English. The percentage of monolingual English-speaking people is only 11%, while 46% are monolingual Niuean speakers.

Niue is not a member of the United Nations (UN), but UN organisations have accepted its status as a freely-associated state as equivalent to independence for the purposes of international law. As such, Niue is a member of some UN specialised agencies (such as UNESCO, and the WHO), and is invited, alongside the other non-UN member state, the Cook Islands, to attend United Nations conferences open to all states. Niue has been a member of the Pacific Community since 1980.

Niue is subdivided into 14 villages (municipalities). Each village has a council that elects its chairperson. The villages are at the same time electoral districts; each village sends an assemblyperson to the Parliament of Niue. A small and democratic nation, Niueans hold legislative elections every three years.

The Niue Integrated Strategic Plan (NISP), adopted in 2003, is the national development plan, setting national priorities for development in areas such as financial sustainability. Since the late 20th century Niue has become a leader in green growth; the European Union is helping the nation convert to renewable energy. In January 2004, Niue was hit by Cyclone Heta, which caused extensive damage to the island, including wiping out most of South Alofi. The disaster set the island back about two years from its planned timeline to implement the NISP since national efforts concentrated on recovery. mapa de Niue , #niue

[4K] FLYING OVER NEW ZEALAND | Drone Footage | Amazing Beautiful Nature | Relaxing Music | Ultra HD

Explore ### via drone in 4k (Ultra HD) and enjoy the relaxing music! ❤️

New Zealand is an island country in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. It consists of two main landmasses—the North Island and the South Island, and over 700 smaller islands, covering a total area of 268,021 square kilometres (103,500 sq mi).

New Zealand is about 2,000 kilometres (1,200 mi) east of Australia across the Tasman Sea and 1,000 kilometres (600 mi) south of the islands of New Caledonia, Fiji, and Tonga.

The country's varied topography and sharp mountain peaks, including the Southern Alps, owe much to tectonic uplift and volcanic eruptions. New Zealand's capital city is Wellington, and its most populous city is Auckland.

Owing to their remoteness, the islands of New Zealand were the last large habitable landmass to be settled by humans. Between about 1280 and 1350, Polynesians began to settle in the islands and then developed a distinctive Māori culture.

In 1642, the Dutch explorer Abel Tasman became the first European to sight and record New Zealand. In 1840, representatives of the United Kingdom and Māori chiefs signed the Treaty of Waitangi, which declared British sovereignty over the islands.

In 1841, New Zealand became a colony within the British Empire, and in 1907 it became a dominion; it gained full statutory independence in 1947, and the British monarch remained the head of state.

Today, the majority of New Zealand's population of 5 million is of European descent; the indigenous Māori are the largest minority, followed by Asians and Pacific Islanders.

Reflecting this, New Zealand's culture is mainly derived from Māori and early British settlers, with recent broadening of culture arising from increased immigration.

The official languages are Māori and New Zealand Sign Language, with English being dominant and a de facto official language.

A developed country, New Zealand ranks highly in international comparisons of national performance, such as quality of life, education, protection of civil liberties, government transparency, and economic freedom.

New Zealand underwent major economic changes during the 1980s, which transformed it from a protectionist to a liberalised free-trade economy. The service sector dominates the national economy, followed by the industrial sector, and agriculture.

International tourism is also a significant source of revenue. Nationally, legislative authority is vested in an elected, unicameral Parliament, while executive political power is exercised by the Cabinet, led by the prime minister.

Queen Elizabeth II is the country's monarch and is represented by the governor-general. In addition, New Zealand is organised into 11 regional councils and 67 territorial authorities for local government purposes.

The Realm of New Zealand also includes Tokelau (a dependent territory); the Cook Islands and Niue (self-governing states in free association with New Zealand); and the Ross Dependency, which is New Zealand's territorial claim in Antarctica.

New Zealand is a member of the United Nations, Commonwealth of Nations, ANZUS, OECD, ASEAN Plus Six, Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, the Pacific Community and the Pacific Islands Forum.
