Niue Island Tourism Promotional

We visited this remote island in the South Pacific in 2012 on the (then) once weekly fligth from Auckland. Niue is not your typical South Pacific Island with snowy white sand and swaying palm trees! But what they lack in terms of beaches the reason why you should come here, is the people of the island! Incredible hospitable and we felt that the entire island met us at the airport on arrival. Immediately invited to chair in local traditions (as the weekly sundowner on the beach bar) to local festivities. And on top of the people iot is the incredible diving that are offered on Niue. This is a very special place in the South Pacific scheme of things! The video was given to us by the Niue Tourism Office.

Niue

My trip to Niue in January 2015

Known as the 'Rock of Polynesia.' The 100 square mile island has a population of around 1400 people.

Surrounded by coral reef, the snorkelling and fishing opportunities here are amongst the best in the world.

The locals have a great knowledge of their island and are incredibly friendly people.

Island of NIUE: Empty, ☹️ abandoned homes after huge storm destroys island

Island of Niue, Pacific Ocean - abandoned homes in Niue in the Pacific Ocean after strong cyclone of Heta. After cyclone Heta, let's visit the abandoned and destroyed homes in the island nation of Niue in the South Pacific Ocean. Let's go inside the abandoned homes in the island of Niue to see how everything was left 12 years ago after the horrible cyclone Heta hit Niue in 2004. Cyclone Heta hammered the tiny Pacific island of Niue in 2004. As a result, many homes in Niue were destrpyed and remained abandoned many years later.
Satellite images showed that Niue was directly in the path of the cyclone Heta. Reports said Niue had been experiencing gale force winds all day and the centre of the cyclone could bring sustained winds of over 200 kilometres an hour with gusts of up to 280 kilometres an hour.
Telephone lines to the 260 square kilometre coral atoll were cut earlier in the day as it had lowered its radio masts ahead of the cyclone.
Ready told the New Zealand Press Association, It's a full-blown hurricane - it's up there with the best of them.
He said damage was likely to be considerable. Alipate Waqaicelua, an officer at the Regional Specialised Meteorological Centre (RSMC) in Nadi, Fiji, told Radio New Zealand that the cyclone should leave Niue in the clear by early Wednesday morning.
But reports said that depending on the extent of the damage, it could be days before communications with Niue - one of the poorest Pacific island states - are restored and details are known.

Let's go to the island of Niue in the Pacific Ocean and let's visit the Anaana (Ana'ana) burial cave in the island of Niue in the South Pacific where for many centuries that Polynesian people have buried the bones of their ancestors.
For many centuries Polynesian people in Niue have buried the bones of their ancestors at the Anaana (Ana'ana) burial cave.

Niue is a small island nation in the South Pacific Ocean. It’s known for its limestone cliffs and coral-reef dive sites. Migrating whales swim in Niue's waters between July and October. In the southeast is the Huvalu Forest Conservation Area, where trails through fossilized coral forests lead to the Togo and Vaikona chasms. The northwest is home to the rock pools of Avaiki Cave and the naturally formed Talava Arches.

Niue Diving Holiday - Kraits, Caves and Cocktails

Niue is known as The Rock of Polynesia renowned for its crystal-clear waters, beautiful caves and chasms, shy endemic sea kraits (snakes), resident spinner dolphins and seasonal humpback whales (July-Oct). The Pina Colada's were pretty good, too! Thanks for watching :)
