Why did I get the AMAZING Nikon D850 #Nikond850 #Landscapephotography
I have been in a transition from my NIKON D810 to the NIKON D850. In this video I explain why I chose the D850 and share some of my first impressions, and a couple of niggles. This is not a full review of the camera. I believe you need to use a camera for a period of time before you can carry out a review. Therefore in the future I might do an update on this beast of an imaging machine. As always at the end, there is a preview of the next video where I take Helen and the D850 out on a proper shoot.
I Don't NEED a Nikon Z8 But I Want One - Comparing Old With New.
In this weeks video I compare the huge leap in technology between my Nikon Z7 and my ancient D40, all in the hope that it will make my desire for a Z8 go away.
Having some serious gear envy about the new Nikon Z8 I decide that the step up in features isn't worth the money... in other words, I'm skint and cannot afford one!
To try and justify my decision in my own head I compare my latest to my oldest Nikon cameras.
Will I be able to take anything worthwhile on the D40? Is 6 megapixels enough? Will Santa bring me a Z8 for Christmas?

Come along with me on my first Photo Adventure with the Nikon D850! I'm sharing some of the cool features I discovered as I set up the menus. We start off a little rocky trying to find the perfect snowy location... I checked all the weather/road reports and this area was supposed to have been slammed with snow (apparently the storm shifted slightly). Lol! But we end up finding snow and the perfect location to test out Focus Shift, one of the features I was most excited to play with. I hope you enjoy!

P.S. I called it an electrical view finder in this video for some reason, but I didn't realize it until well after I had uploaded. It should obviously be electronic viewfinder, not electrical. Apologies for the mental lapse!

So what's the backstory behind this video?
Well, I’m a Landscape photographer, based in the UK, searching for interesting locations, mainly around the UK, but also travelling further afield. I endeavour to make all of my videos as interesting as possible, with editing skills I've picked up over the years, also with adding music to match the mood of the locations and images. Using a basic set up, consisting of my DJI Osmo Action, my Mavic Pro Drone (although not all the time) and either my trusty Nikon D850 or my Nikon D7200 cameras, for the images.
I always show my images, no matter how unhappy I am with them, I think you as the viewer deserve to see the good along with the bad, after all, if it’s on the video, you've already seen behind the scenes.
So sit back, grab a coffee or a tea, relax and enjoy my slightly unprofessional, sometimes comical, but always crammed with passion video.

Nikon D850 vs Canon R5 - Landscape Photography Challenge
In the view of my up coming Iceland trip I had to make a choice of camera system as it will be difficult to carry on both Nikon and Canon systems.
So I made a comparison of Nikon D850 and Canon R5 from perspective of still landscape photography.

There are few big advantages of D850 that is spec related and that is why I didn't go through, but will write them down.
1. Battery life of D850 is way better. The additional grip works with the original camera battery whereas the Canon R5 has already a poor battery life, on top the grip only adds two standard battery.
2. Canon R5 being mirrorless, you need to switch it on to even compose via viewfinder. Sure the preview is better, but it also eats battery quickly. Whereas Nikon D850 being a DSLR; you have no need to switch on for getting a preview. Off course that is a problem in darker situation.
3. The timelapse feature of Nikon is way advanced where you can choose number of shots whereas in Canon R5 there is no option to choose number of stops. You need to use a separate timer in your phone to actually count the number of shots based on calculation of interval.
