NIAGARA FALLS Day Trip from Toronto ???????? + Wine Tasting in NIAGARA VINEYARDS at Niagara on the Lake ????
Hey guys, today we're taking you to Niagara Falls which is a super easy day trip from Toronto!
A few weeks back on a crisp autumn day, we hopped in the car together with Audrey's dad, Daniel, and we drove 1 hour and 15 minutes over to Niagara Falls. The falls are located right on the border between Canada and the United States, so normally you can walk across the Rainbow Bridge and view them from the other side, but since the border is still closed (we visited November 2020), we'll be showing you the views only from the Canadian side.
Niagara Falls is made up of 3 different falls; you have the Horseshoe Falls on the Canadian side, and then the Bridal Veil and the American Falls on the American side.
We spent the morning enjoying the views and walking along the promenade. Then, in the afternoon, we decided to do a little wine tasting. The town of Niagara-on-the-Lake is well-known for its many vineyards and wineries, so of course, we had to visit.
By chance, we ended up doing a tasting at Two Sisters Vineyards, which was voted the best small winery in Canada. Here we tried 4 different wines including Canada's famous ice wine, which is made using grapes that have been frozen while still on the vine. This dessert wine is very sweet and it's almost like drinking liquid honey. A must-try if you're visiting the Niagara wine region.
Our one tip for visiting vineyards in Niagara would be to make a reservation. We showed up without much of a plan and had to try 3 different places before we found one that had availability.
And that was our day. Our visit to Niagara was short and sweet, but it was a fun day trip. Hopefully, once things are calmer we'll be able to plan a weekend escape!

Niagara on the lake is known for a few things…
1)its wineries (Niagara Peninsula is the Largest wine-producing region in Canada)
2)the Shaw Festival (Canada's second largest producing theatre)
3)it’s history, Fort George was built by the British to defend against American attacks during the war of 1812.
Also, It’s close proximity to Niagara Falls doesn’t hurt either.
It’s located on the Niagara Peninsula at the point where the Niagara River meets Lake Ontario, at the mouth of the Niagara River.
It’s approx. 1 hour from Toronto and 20-25 minutes from Niagara Falls. Niagara on the Lake is right across the river from the USA. Only 30 minutes from the Bridge to the USA and 50 minutes from Buffalo.
The flower-filled, tree-lined old town features many 19th-century buildings, and Queen St. is home to many small shops and top restaurants. Niagara on the lake is one of the best small towns in Canada.

The town is known for its award winning wineries, boutique shops and restaurants, the oldest golf course and its interesting history. We start our walk on Queen Street and take a detour along the various side streets. We go explore the neighbourhoods while enjoying the sights along the way. Niagara on the Lake | A weekend of wine tours, Niagara Falls & Canada's prettiest town!
On a recent trip to Ontario, Canada, I hired a car and made my way down to Niagara on the Lake for a weekend getaway with my best friend! In this video, you will find information about things to do in the Niagara area, join us for an incredible wine tour and see the famous Niagara Falls.
We spent 2 nights in one of Canada's prettiest towns. Reminiscent of Banff, the small town of Niagara on the Lake captured my heart instantly and captivated us as we spent two nights in this beautiful area.
We stayed at Queens Landing, a gorgeous vintage hotel just a few minutes walk from the main town. After an incredible breakfast croissant at Niagara Juice Co, we spent our first day on a wonderful wine tour with Cellar Door Tours. Niagara on the Lake is a very renowned wine region in Canada and as a wine lover myself, exploring the local offerings was the number 1 priority while visiting. We did a lot of research on wine tours prior to our trip and while there is plenty of choice, Cellar Doors stood out to us and we were very happy with the tour! With visits to 4 local wineries, lunch included and door-to-door transport, we were set!

Just 30m from Niagara on the Lake, Niagara Falls was super accessible and we visited on out last day. [Spoiler alert] it ended up being our least favourite part.
