China is ahead in combating desertification, including in the Kubuqi Desert after decades of unremitting effort. Spanning more than 118,000 square kilometers, the Kubuqi Desert is the seventh largest in the country and was once a significant source of dust storms in northern China. Beijing has invested enormous effort in recent decades to plant trees, and after decades of effort, the Kubuqi has become the only desert under comprehensive control. Mu Us Desert Turns Green(Google Earth)(2021)

The Mu Us Desert (also known as the Maowusu Desert)is a desert in northern China. The Wuding River drains the area and then flows into the Yellow River. After 1949, the Chinese carried out a variety of ecological restoration projects including sand stabilization, irrigation development, afforestation, soil improvement, and transformation of the desert with remarkable results. After decades of hard work for several generations, the Mu Us Desert has been controlled and turned into an oasis, creating a miracle on earth.

The city of Zhongwei in Ningxia has made great achievements in the control of desertification.
