WHAT TO DO in New York City in 48 Hours! (First Trip to NYC)

We have never been to New York City until now! I still can’t believe we are finally here! We have two full days to see as much as we can! It will help that we decided to stay right in the center of Manhattan… literally in the middle of Times Square! This is a good thing and a bad thing as it is quite bright in our room at night at the Times Square Edition.

Day one… After getting our fill of taking in Times Square, we take the Big Bus (hop on hop off tour) to see some of the sights. We always love these tours as they are informative and a great way to see the city. Just be prepared for a slower pace due to the traffic… We start off in Midtown Manhattan and travel down 5th Avenue past the Empire State Building and the Flatiron Building. Our first stop to get off was in SoHo… we walked to Greenwich Village for pizza! First stop was John’s of Bleecker Street and then just a block away to Bleecker Street Pizza.

Back on the bus, we went through Chinatown & Little Italy and then got off at the Brooklyn Bridge stop and relaxed in City Hall Park for a bit. We decided to get off at this stop as it was nearest the 911 Memorial. This is a surreal location that everyone should visit. We were able to take in the festivities of a street market in World Trade Center Plaza with food from all over the world! Too bad we were so full from the pizza! Wandering around downtown we found ourselves at a rooftop bar on the Conrad Building called Loopy Doopy where they have a very unique cocktail including popsicles! We stayed to watch the sunset over New Jersey.

Hopping the subway for the first time on our trip, we make our way to Sarge’s Deli for dinner. Another food item, that we had to try was the pastrami & corned beef sandwich… and it didn’t disappoint! Luckily we had a 30 minute walk back to the hotel to burn some of those calories off!

Day two… Today is all about Central Park! It is about a 30 minute walk from our hotel but we grab Starbucks along the way for some fuel. We enter through the South side and just stroll. It is such a beautiful day, and a Saturday, so many of the locals are out enjoying the great weather. We stumble across sprawling lawns with people laid out on blankets, volley ball games, birthday parties, etc. Just about everything that could be happening that day was. We found some of the landmarks like Bethesda Terrace with the beautiful fountain and geese & ducks coming in and out of the pond; the Alice in Wonderland Statue and Belvedere Castle. We tried to find the spot of the snowball fight in Elf, but no luck!

Next stop is the Empire State Building! We have a CityPASS that gives us entrance to the observation deck and we didn’t want to miss it. And it was so much more than we expected! There are several floors of information and interactive exhibits about the building. It was the tallest building in the world when it was constructed in 1931. It was really cool to see the photos of the view of NYC then compared to what it looks like now. And of course, we made it to the top of the 86 story observation deck. It is incredible to see the views from there!

We end our trip to the Big Apple by seeing the city from the river. A sunset cruise is also part of the CityPass and at 7:00 we board our boat. THIS WAS THE BEST THING WE DID!!! First off, seeing the sunset over the city was breathtaking! But we floated past the Statue of Liberty right at dusk as well… just incredible! Then, when it is full dark, the lights of the city come on! This is something we will never forget!!

Ok, time for a good night’s sleep as we are boarding a cruise ship tomorrow!!

Long Island Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia

Long Island – Less than an hour’s drive from NYC, find the first of the island’s much-loved beaches. From there, follow us through the coolest parts of the area.

When ready, browse vacation packages to Long Island:

A #LongIsland #vacation sends you eastward from the New York boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens to the bluffs of Montauk Point. A short train ride from Manhattan is Long Beach, which for many is where Long Island begins. Visit Fire Island Lighthouse, which for generations of immigrants was their first glimpse of America. It was on Long Island’s northern shores where the mansions were built that would inspire F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic, The Great Gatsby.

#Visit the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Hempstead and continue your flight into the past at the American Airpower Museum. #Explore the pioneer settlement of Southampton Village and nearby Sag Harbor, a historic whaling port immortalized in Moby Dick. America’s first president, George Washington, commissioned Montauk Lighthouse on Long Island’s easternmost point. Climb to the top to take in the sweeping views of this place that has played center stage in some of America’s greatest stories.

For now, we hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

New York, the Big Apple for the locals, is the largest city of the United States. Its most famous sight is the monumental Statue of Liberty, but there are the famous skyscrapers like the Empire State Building or the Rockefeller Center, while the twin towers of the World trade Center are sadly missed. Along the streets cabs hunt for customers. The lung of the city is Central Park, the paradise of joggers and dog owners. The Wall Street is the center of the world of money, while the Broadway is the same for Arts. Famous theatres, museums, the cafes and clubs of Greenwich Village and the renewed places of the old docks await the visitors here.

New York City (New York) Vacation Travel Video Guide

Vacation travel video about destination New York City in New York.
New York continues to be one of the world’s most famous cities, a true world metropolis and major symbol of the American Dream. Manhattan Island is the city’s most well known district and the Rockefeller Center in Midtown is often referred to as the heart of the New York. Nearby the Roman Catholic Saint Patrick´s Cathedral is the largest and most magnificent church in the United States. The Grand Central Terminal divides Park Avenue and is a huge station with which the railroad kings, the Venderbilts, left an indelible mark. The huge hall, with its magnificent vaulted ceiling in Beaux Arts style, has been the city’s central railway station for twelve lines since 1913. The confines of Chinatown are inhabited by a hundred and fifty thousand Chinese from China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, most of whom are unable to speak a word of English. Chinese characters wherever one looks and restaurants and Asian stores on every street corner. The famous Wall Street was named after a wall which in the early days protected the growing city against attack by Native American Indians. However, the roots of its subsequent claim to fame were laid in 1792. The young state desperately needed investment and therefore the powers that be decided to issue bonds. Close by, on a small island, is New York’s most famous landmark, the Statue Of Liberty. The head of Lady Liberty leads to the crown from which there are stunning views from several windows. New York City is most certainly unique. A city that’s very much alive and kicking, self-confident and always a surprise!

One Day in New York | Expedia

Ordinarily, a long layover can feel like a pain, but not when you’re in New York City. Even with just 24 hours in New York, you have the opportunity to take a bite out of the Big Apple. There’s no time to waste, so hail a taxi and explore the concrete jungle before your next flight.

One day in New York means sampling a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Venturing around the five boroughs will give you a taste of each pocket, from the hip-hop roots of the Bronx to the ethnic cuisine in Queens. Brooklyn is home to the carnival rides at Coney Island, while Manhattan boasts the bright lights of Times Square. It’s not all hustle and bustle in the city though. Indulge in some peace and quiet in Central Park, mosey around the masterpieces at the Museum of Modern Art, or take the ferry to see the Statue of Liberty up close and personal.

When it comes to getting know New York in a day, squeeze in a trip to the Empire State Building and chow down on the city’s famous pizza, bagels, and cheesecake. While it’s nearly impossible to soak up all the city has to offer in so little time, it’s certainly worth a shot.
