Napa Travel Tips: 10 Things to Know Before You Go to Napa

Things you'll want to know before you travel to the Napa Valley in California. The best time of year to come: September & October. Grape Harvest seasons. June/July/August is HOT! Really Hot in the day like 90-100F. But cold at night... in the 50's. The morning fog during June through August is deceptive; temperatures get toasty once it burns off

2. Napa is Expensive: Think Disneyland prices, Hotels, Food, and wine tasting. Wine tastings cost $20-$75

3. Napa is more than the city of Napa: The whole Napa Valley, St Helena, Calistoga, Sonoma too

4. Getting to Napa: Ultimately Driving, but you can fly in to
Sacramento, Oakland, SFO, SJC. Napa is located 40 miles south of Sacramento and 50 miles north of San Francisco. About an hour drive from each. You can also take a bus to Napa from Oakland and San Francisco.

5. Public transit is non-existant, but there are wine tours if you don't want to drive.

6. Reservations: Make reservations, for winery tastings, and dinner. You'll thank me later.

7. Wake up early: Especially on the weekends if you are visiting the wineries, go to the busy ones before noon. After 12 is when they get crazy busy.

8. No nightlife -- all the wineries close at 5-6pm to prevent drunk driving. Only thing to do a night is eat. And you better do that before 9pm.

9. Food: Best food is in the town of Napa itself. Think about a picnic lunch from V. Sattui or Dean and Deluca (Both in St. Helena)

10. Don't drink too much -- particularly on a hot day... the wine goes to your head faster. Many tasting rooms have a place that you can spit your wine. It's okay to spit it out after tasting, the more you spit, the more you can taste.

Napa Valley, California Travel Guide - How to See the MOST SITES in 1 Day | 24 hours in Napa Valley

This video offers you the BEST Napa Valley Travel Guide and how to see so many great locations with only having 1 day there! Napa Valley, CA is a huge destination for wine lovers. For my wife and I, this was our first experience. In this video we'll show you how we were able to tour a lot of the Napa Valley in just 24 hours. We'll tour 3 wineries (Castello di Amorosa, Robert Mondavi, Long Meador Ranch), eat at 2 amazing restaurants, drink plenty of wine, and check out the town of Napa. Join us!

Napa Valley is an American Viticultural Area (AVA) located in Napa County in California's Wine Country. It was established by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) on January 27, 1981. Napa Valley is considered one of the premier wine regions in the world. Records of commercial wine production in the region date back to the nineteenth century, but premium wine production dates back only to the 1960s. The combination of Mediterranean climate, geography and geology of the region are conducive to growing quality wine grapes. John Patchett established the Napa Valley's first commercial vineyard in 1858. In 1861 Charles Krug established another of Napa Valley's first commercial wineries in St. Helena. Viticulture in Napa suffered several setbacks in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, including an outbreak of the vine disease phylloxera, the institution of Prohibition, and the Great Depression. The wine industry in Napa Valley recovered, and helped by the results of the Paris Wine Tasting of 1976, came to be seen as capable of producing the best quality wine – equal to that of Old-World wine regions. Napa Valley is now a major ecotourism destination.

12 AMAZING Things to do in Yountville, California: Napa Valley Travel Guide

Yountville is most definitely Napa Valley’s friendliest town and has some incredible wine, food, wellness and hospitality! I flew up for a fun-filled 48 hours in lovely Yountville and have put together a travel guide with some wonderful suggestions on how to spend your time in #YountvilleCA

1. Art Walk, stroll Yountville.

#Yountville is that rare gem in #NapaValley where you can actually do a ton on foot! Take advantage of this major convenience in Yountville and bounce around the wine tasting rooms, shops, hotels and restaurants all while taking in some wonderful art!

2. Stay at Hotel Yountville

This was my second time staying at Hotel Yountville and I absolutely loved it! The rooms are fabulous, the staff is so accommodating and they have expanded to quite an impressive property!

3. Cocktails by the pool at Hotel Yountville

This is the perfect way to wind down from a busy day or get the party started! You will most likely be drinking a lot of wine, so I thoroughly enjoyed the variety and creativity of the cocktail menu.

4. Dinner at RH Restaurant at RH Hardware

RH Restaurant is part of the five-building RH Yountville Compound, an integration of food, wine, art and design. Get ready for jaw-dropping moments and excellent eats and vino!

5. Hot Air Balloon Ride

This has been on my bucket list for over a decade, so I was thrilled to finally go on a #hotairballoon ride! Hotel Yountville offers a package with Napa Valley Aloft. This is a great way to see Napa Valley from a completely different perspective. Be ready to wake up early!

6. Stay at Hotel Villagio

Another wonderful hotel to stay at in Yountville is Hotel Villagio. This is an impressive property with a wonderful breakfast buffet, lots of communal areas, fun photo ops at a little vineyard next door, a great bar and beautiful spa. There is also a fun house jeep that can drop you at dinner.

7. Breakfast Buffet at Hotel Villagio

Don't miss the most important meal of the day!

8. Spa Day at Spa at the Estate
Let's be honest, drinking wine and eating awesome food is hard work! You deserve a break!

9.. Lunch at Coqueta Napa Valley

Coqueta means “flirt” or “infatuation” in Spanish, and let me tell you Michael Chiarello and his team represented! This was a total highlight of my time in Yountville and the food is killer! I highly suggest starting off your meal with their house gin and tonic.

10. Wine and Cheese Tasting at Silver Trident Winery

When you visit Silver Trident Winery, you feel like you are walking into your Aunt's home in Tuscany and enjoying wine and cheese with family. This aunt also has impeccable taste because everything is exclusively Ralph Lauren Home and available for purchase!

11. Wine Tasting at Handwritten Wines

Evocative wines, elevated vineyards and a truly unique #winetasting experience. This was my first stop upon landing in Napa Valley and a fantastic way to kick off my trip! The private tasting room is beautiful and this is a truly special opportunity to gain an education about wine and wine tasting. And the wines are so good!

12.. Dinner at Lucy Restaurant and Bar at Bardessono

If you can't stay at Bardessono, then a meal at Lucy is the next best thing! The food is phenomenal, the service is perfection with some of the best voices I've ever heard (legit these guys could all have a side hustle as voice-over artists), and you can enjoy a stroll around the property. Oh and be sure to visit the bathroom, I can never pass up a Japanese toilet.

I hope you enjoyed my #travelvlog and Napa Valley #travelguide through Yountville, CA. This place truly has my heart and I can't wait to go back!
