Namibia Vacation Travel Video Guide

Travel video about destination Namibia.
Windhoek is the flourishing capital of Namibia and it is from here that we begin a journey through this country and experience some of the magic of the Dark Continent on a luxurious train - the Desert Express!Dating back to colonial times, the Christ Church is a reminder of the end of hostilities between the Germans and the indigenous population during the period when it was known as ‘German West Africa’, and indeed German influence in this part of the world is still very much in evidence today. A short journey leads into the isolated loneliness of the prairie and to lion feeding at the Okapuka Ranch in which an Austrian keeps lions in their natural environment. A popular holiday resort on the mouth of the River Swakop and the final destination of the rail journey, Swakopumund, through whose harbour everything that was used in German West Africa was transported, resulting in a regular trading route between Swakopmund and Hamburg for more than ten years - a hint of Germany on the edge of the desert! In Swakopumund there are architectural treasures that were rented out in the days of the Kaiser and are reminiscent of various houses in Berlin. This is a part of Germany that no longer exists in Germany itself. Moon Valley is bizarre and extra-terrestrial and for millions of years it has withstood the erosive power of the Swakop. With its deep-cut valleys and no vegetation in sight, the endless rocky landscape seems unfriendly, life threatening and impassable. Namutoni Camp is situated in the centre of the Etosha National Park and has a history that dates back to 1851. Thirsty antelopes and zebras rendezvous at a watering hole while a herd of elephants drink at another. Namibia is, quite rightly, a much sought after tourist destination. White deserts, wild animals, mountains strewn with ravines, and white beaches - Africa’s south west is full of more than a few colourful surprises!

Insider - Afrika - Namibia Vacation Travel Video Guide

In the central highlands the endless steppe of the Kalahari stretches to the horizon. Further west, the steep step to the coast offers rugged mountains, deep gorges and the mighty orange sand dunes of the Namib Desert. 1500 kilometres of deserted sandy beaches are washed by the ice-cold waters of the Atlantic...

Desert Express Namibia Vacation Travel Video Guide

Travel video about destination Desert Express Namibia in Namibia.
Windhoek is the flourishing capital of Namibia and it is from here that we begin a journey through this country and experience some of the magic of the Dark Continent on a luxurious train - the Desert Express! Comfortable leather seats in the Starview compartment are the perfect way to enjoy the heavens and, as if by magic, Venetian blinds open and provide a view of the desert sky. Dating back to colonial times, the Christ Church is a reminder of the end of hostilities between the Germans and the indigenous population during the period when it was known as ‘German West Africa’, and indeed German influence in this part of the world is still very much in evidence today. SWAKOPMUND, NAMIBIA: Africa's MOST BEAUTIFUL Town? Travel Guide to ALL SIGHTS

Welcome to Namibia! And welcome to part 3 of an incredible road trip through one of the least populated countries in the world. This country about 1,5 time the size of France mainly consists of desert landscape. In the previous two episodes we traveled along the coast of South Africa from Cape Town, to visit the first highlight of the country and the absolute number one sight: the Sossusvlei. After that we drove through no man's land to the industrial port city of Walvis Bay. We spotted flamingoes crossing the dunes in the endless desert and visited pink salt lakes.

In this episode we continue the drive along the coast to another tourist hot spot on the ocean shore. The town of Swakopmund is the most beautiful preserved colonial town, with a lot of German influences. The architecture is outstanding, but Swakopmund has more to offer. It's the beating heart of Namibian culture. We also visit the National Marine Aquarium, some shipwrecks on the so called Skeleton Coast and thousands of seals at Cape Cross. Up next will be Etosha National Park for some safari drives.

Our journey through Africa is part of a one and a half year trip around the world. We can even continue to travel indefinitely. On New Year's Day we started in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, the Canary Islands. Then you saw us in Oman, Cape Verde, Martinique, Saint Lucia, Tobago, Grenada, the Bahamas, the United States, Mexico, Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands, Brazil, Qatar, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Australia and the Philippines. Zanzibar and Tanzania are already destination number 21 on the big trip. We have also been away from home for a year. Follow us on this world tour, first in Tanzania, from Zanzibar to the safari parks on the mainland and then to many more beautiful destinations in Africa! We still travel non-stop all year and film everything, with a new episode every week. Also take a look at instagram @woutoftheworld or

Namib Naukluft (Namibia) Vacation Travel Video Guide

Travel video about destination Namib Naukluft in Namibia.
The arid landscape of the Namib Naukluft Park in the heart of Namibia seems to be endless and it is the fourth largest nature reserve in the world. In the northern region, between the river valleys of the Swakop and Kuiseb, vast fields of scree cover the majority of this fifty thousand square kilometre conservation area. The remote world of stone and rock seems so strange and unreal that one of the valleys in this region is called Moon Valley.Further into the Namib Desert and the colours of the surrounding landscape grow more intense. It is as though both earth and sky are competing against each other to see who shines brightest. The majestic and world famous blazing red dunes of Sossusvlei tower more than three hundred metres over the landscape. In this extremely hot, arid and treacherous ocean of sand even the trees seem to have given up their struggle for survival. Most of the waterholes have dried out and now this region's wildlife must prepare for yet another period of interminable draught. At the end of the day the fiery sky seems to emulate the warm red colours of the mighty sand dunes and amid the beautiful scenery the magnificent world of the Namib Naukluft Park gradually merges with the intense glow of sunset.

Namibia TRAVEL GUIDE: The SOSSUSVLEI is the SUNNIEST place on Earth!

Welcome to Namibia! This is one of the least populated countries in the world, because it mainly consists of desert landscape. We travel along the coast to visit the highlights of the country and start with the absolute number one sight: the Sossusvlei.

In the previous episode you saw us driving through the Kalahari desert in search of wild animals. From South Africa we crossed the border into Namibia. There we will travel through mountains, deserts and salt flats in the coming weeks, with stops in Walvis Bay, Swakopmund, Cape Cross and Etosha National Park.

Etosha Vacation Travel Video Guide

Travel video about destination Etosha in Namibia.
The Etosha National Park in Namibia is one of the largest wildlife reserves in the world and no other park in Africa contains so many wild animals. The Etosha Salt Pan is located in the centre of the park, five thousand square kilometres of arid terrain and an almost endless plain of fine silvery white sand. To date a hundred and ten varieties of mammals have been recorded in Etosha, a truly remarkable number that is also reflected in the vegetation of this region. Moreover, three hundred and forty species of bird also populate this unique habitat. The most fascinating natural spectacles are to be seen around the park’s numerous waterholes where the drinking protocol is determined by the elephant. The natural beauty and variety of African wildlife, whether individually, in groups or in large herds, is a truly magnificent experience in Eotsha.
