LOOKING for RIVER TREASURE at NU'UULI FALLS | AMERICAN SAMOA | Can You Guess What We Found?
We're heading back to NU'UULI FALLS for another island adventure.
Nate and the kids love watching RIVER TREASURE videos on YouTube and we decided to try it for ourselves. Nu'uuli Falls seems to be the most frequented waterfall in American Samoa, where lots of people climb up the steep rock wall and jump into the cool pool below.
That sound like the perfect place to find sunken treasures, lost and forgotten by locals and visitors alike. Of course, if we find anything we'll post it on the local Facebook marketplace groups and do our best to find the owners.

Let's visit the spectacular Nu’uuli Falls in the American island of American Samoa in the South Pacific Ocean!! Nu’uuli Falls is a 65-feet secluded cascade (waterfalls) with a swimming hole beneath. Nu’uuli Falls provides the perfect cool down on a hot, humid day on the tropical island of American Samoa in the Pacific Ocean.
To get to Nu’uuli Falls, turn left at Nu’uuli Family Mart when coming from the west. Follow this road veering left at the pig farm. Enter the trailhead and follow the hiking trail for about 15 minutes. Veer left at the first trail juncture, and follow until the trail reaches the stream.

Nu'uuli Falls and Faga'alu Falls are two waterfalls located on the eastern side of Tutuila. Both hikes are short in length but have difficult sections to cross which require caution. Trailhead directions and route-finding can be a bit challenging for first-time visitors. Part 4 of 6 of our video series Hiking American Samoa. Let's visit the Nu'uuli Falls which are a spectacular site of nature in the American island of American Samoa in the South Pacific Ocean!! Nu'uuli waterfalls (or, Nu'uuli falls) is a 65-feet secluded cascade with a swimming hole beneath in the island of American Samoa in the Pacific Ocean.
Nu’uuli Falls provides the perfect cool down on a hot, humid day on the tropical islands of American Samoa. The trail is short, but tricky, and can lead to five or six more falls (depending on recent rainfall) beyond the first set.
To get here, turn left at Nu’uuli Family Mart when coming from the west. Follow this road veering left at the pig farm. Enter the trailhead and follow the hiking trail for about 15 minutes. Veer left at the first trail juncture, and follow until the trail reaches the stream.

Nuuuli Waterfall
Alex and Calixto visited from Brazil and Spain. We couchsurfed them and took them hiking. The Lonely planet guide for Samoa took us to a secluded waterfall. By the end of four days they had earned their American Pacific University environmental certificate.

Talofa everyone! Welcome to our Sunday morning in American Samoa. It was a beautiful day, we woke up and thought we’d get some panikeke, but the market is closed on Sundays. So, we just got breakfast at Sadie’s Goat Island Cafe. Then, we picked up Rambo in Pago Pago American Samoa, and drove out to beautiful Coconut Point in Nuuuli. We were on a quest to find some good palusami (luau) and taro, so we stopped two places for the fresh umu, including Le Roadside restaurant, and we picked up food for our To'ogai. We hope you enjoy our video!

SLIDING ROCK TIDE POOLS | AMERICAN SAMOA
Today, we're taking advantage of the SUNSHINE and LOW TIDE by hiking out to SLIDING ROCK TIDE POOLS , in TAPUTIMU, AMERICAN SAMOA.
Millions of years ago, when our island was being formed, huge lava flows made their way to the ocean and left behind expansive cliffs.
High tides cover the area, while low tides expose the smooth black cliffs, leaving slippery flats and tide pools of all different sizes.

Sunday Drive Nu'uuli to Fagamalo & Back - American Samoa West Side
Rambo, Mose and I drive all the way out to the West side of American Samoa. We tried to show a lot of the villages and houses between Nuuuli and Fagamalo, including: Malaeimi, Faleniu, Pavaiai, Malaeloa, Amaluia, Leone, Afao, Nua & Seetaga, Amanave & Cape TapuTapu, Fagali'i. We stopped to have our ko'ogai in Amanave and then headed back to see the movie, Next Goal Wins in Nu'uuli.

POV Tour of Tutuila Island's Tafuna Plain From Nu'uuli to Leone Via Motorcycle Sidecar (Pt 1 of 3)

Not nearly as picturesque as the east or west side of the island, the Tafuna plain in the centre of Tutuila Island has in the past 40 years become the hub, and most densely populated section of the island, displacing Fagatogo/Pago Pago, for which the island is most known for.
It's also the only flat section, but is relatively un-fertile because it is really a thin layer of dirt over basalt. In addition, a significant portion of the plain is freehold land due to a practice, now prohibited, of foreign merchants trading land for account balances.
At one time (when I came here 37 years ago, yeah, I'm old!), the Tafuna Plain was still mostly rain forest and dirt roads, now, there is very little of the rain forest left. In the next two videos, you will see some of the spectacular scenes of the south shore.
Picked up a little rain (surprise!), so excuse the drops. In addition, the camera mount on the upper sidecar strut was in the process of breaking, and the camera fell off into my hands in the garage!
The 'rig' (or 'combo', if you're a British English speaker), is a 2009 Yamaha V-Star 1100, with a DMC Kenna Double sidecar.
