What is the experience of traveling on an ESTA?

If your ESTA is approved, you will not need to bring a print out or digital screen copy of your travel authorization. Your ESTA is linked to your passport. However, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recommends you retain a print-out of your authorization for your own personal records. Your ESTA will be verified in one of two ways before you board your plane or sea vessel to America.

Airlines, cruise ship operators and booking websites - An approved ESTA may be verified online by air carriers or booking websites. These sites will require you to provide your approved ESTA authorization number as part of online check-in process. If you do not have an approved ESTA authorization number, you will not be allowed to check-in online.

Airport check-in, baggage-drop terminals or at the gate by a flight attendant - When you arrive at the airport or port, representatives will request to see your passport to check against the Advance Passenger Information System (APIS). If do not have an approved ESTA, you will not be allowed to check-in at the airport or board your ship.

Arriving In NEW YORK CITY at JFK Airport -- Walk Tour

I arrived in New York City at JFK airport on a very short layover to Portugal. When I say short, it was like 40 minutes between landing and take off for the next flight (according to itinerary). So I had to rush to get from Terminal 1 to Terminal 4 by shuttle.

Crazy part is once I made it to my plane, we literally sat there for an hour until it finally took off! SMH

Inside The $3 Billion New Terminal of Abu Dhabi Airport

Abu Dhabi Airport Terminal A has opened. I visited the brand new terminal that completely changed the travel experience.

Covering 742,000 square meters, it is one of the largest airport terminals in the world. The $3 billion building, which is triple the size of the old terminal, is set to double the current airport's capacity and manage up to 45 million passengers per year. It's capable of handling 79 planes at once and 11,000 passengers per hour.

Stands at the center of the new terminal at Abu Dhabi airport is Sana Al‐Nour, a unique structure and the largest public artwork in the Middle East. The departure area features 12 check-in rows with self check-in counter. There are dedicated check-in areas for Etihad Business and First Class passengers.

At the airside, I visited the new Etihad Airways First Class and Business Class lounge in Terminal A. The impressive new lounge spans three floors of Terminal A’s. Check out all the lounge features in my video. Etihad’s First Class lounge features restaurant-style dining and private rooms.

Abu Dhabi International Airport is being renamed as Zayed International Airport, with the official new name to take effect from February 9.

ABOUT ME
I'm Varun.
I am a full-time traveller now (yes, I quit my job to follow my dreams). I love solo travelling & meeting people. After travelling extensively in Incredible India for years, I stepped out of my country and realised, how beautiful the world is! I started making travel web series in Hindi full of travel tips and tricks, especially for budget travel and sustainable tourism. My dream is to inspire people to explore this beautiful world and learn the best things to make our world a better place to live in. I was awarded the prestigious 'National Tourism Award' by the Government of India for my contributions in the field of promotion of Tourism. Thanks to my viewers, because of whom now I get invitations from across the globe to visit their places and show them to the world.

Do you Need a US Transit Visa To Go through the US?

In general, a foreign national wishing to enter the US must first get a visa. US Transit visas are non-immigrant visas for those traveling through the US in immediate and continuous transit on their way to another nation, with a few exceptions. Quick and continuing transit is defined as a sufficiently quick departure of the passenger in the usual course of travel as the components permit, with a scheduled route and no unjustified stopover privileges. If the traveler wants layover benefits for reasons other than transit through the US, including visiting friends or sightseeing, the passenger must meet the requirements for the kind of visa necessary for that purpose.

Here is the Visa Library article about US transit visas:
