GLASGOW TRAVEL GUIDE | Top 20 Things to do in Glasgow, Scotland

Join us for this travel guide to Glasgow, Scotland as we highlight 20 of the best things to do in Glasgow including visiting distilleries, trendy restaurants, hopping pubs, fascinating museums and more attractions.

This is our second time visiting Glasgow, UK and our city guide is a combination of footage from our visit this year and last year. Glasgow has a thriving food scene (both Scottish food and International) and we give you a thorough food tour as we bite our way around the city.

In terms of major attractions Glasgow (Glaschu) doesn't have many iconic places to visit as nearby Edinburgh; however, I feel one of the advantages it has over Edinburgh is that the city is more spread out and each neighborhood has a distinct character.

One of our favorite places to visit was the University of Glasgow which has a campus that would make Harry Potter proud. Whether we were visiting breweries or distilleries or having seafood for lunch or dinner we found no shortage of things to do in Glasgow, Scotland.

Now let's explore Glasgow (Glesga) together!

Our visit Glasgow travel guide documentary covers some of the top attractions including a food guide (Scottish and International), top sightseeing tourist attractions and the city by day including visiting distilleries, breweries, churches and museums and Glasgow by night for pubs and entertainment. We also cover off-the-beaten-path outdoor activities you won't find in a typical Glasgow tourism brochure, Glasgow itinerary or Glasgow, Scotland city tour.

20 Things to do in Glasgow, Scotland travel guide video transcript:

In today’s video we’re going to be showing you around Glasgow, Scotland. This is a city that we visited last autumn and then again this summer, and on both visits, we ate like kings and queens because it turns out, Glasgow is a great destination for foodies.

Since we never got around to making a travel guide on our first visit, today we’re going to be combining the footage from both of those trips to show you some of the best things to do in Glasgow and also some of the best places to eat and drink it. So let’s get started!

And that’s a wrap for our visit to Glasgow, Scotland. We loved our two visits and we’d gladly return for a 3rd. This is an amazing city for foodies and there are so many great bars, restaurants, breweries, and distilleries to visit.

Also FYI - if you’re already visiting Edinburgh, Glasgow is just a short 50-minute train ride away, and it’s a city with its own unique vibe.

If there are any other fun things to do in Glasgow that you’d like to share with travellers, feel free to leave your suggestions in the comments below. Wishing you happy travels!

This is part of our Travel in Scotland video series showcasing Scottish food, Scottish culture and Scottish cuisine.

Exploring The BEST Things To Do In GLASGOW!!????????????????????????????

Today w'ere exploring the best things to do in GLASGOW, SCOTLAND!!

If we're being honest, we had no clue what to expect before arriving in Glasgow. We knew they were obviously known as the capital of Scotland & a major home for Scottish football, but there's SO MUCH to do in Glasgow & this video merely scratches the surface!

Today we start by going to Willow Grove for coffee. Willow Grove Coffee is a very popular coffee shop in Glasgow & the flat white tasted incredible! It's a really popular place & we highly recommend it!

We then made our way over to the University of Glasgow. We knew that this college would be impressive, but it wildly exceeded our expectations! The cloisters gave a really cool Harry Potter feel & the university itself is one of the four oldest universities in the English-speaking world. University of Glasgow is an excellent spot to enjoy coffee while enjoying some spectacular scenery.

From there we hopped in the car & drove into the center of Glasgow to see Buchanan Street. This felt like the main thoroughfare in Glasgow & made for a great afternoon of window shopping. If you're looking to shop until you drop then this is the place for you!! While in the center of Glasgow, make sure to stop & see George Square. George Square is a central hub for the city & has a host of different statues of famous Scottish people who've done great things.

Shortly after we walked over to BrewDog Merchant City. This is a chain restaurant/brewery, but has an excellent selection of Scottish beers that we wanted to try. The barbecue & fries were an excellent treat along with our IPAs!

After sufficiently stuffing ourselves with good food & great beer, we decided to walk a bit to Glasgow Cathedral & the Necropolis behind it. This cathedral is truly stunning. From the vaulted ceilings to the crypt below, we were mesmerized by the architecture & couldn't believe this was free to tour (although donations are encouraged). Behind the Glasgow Cathedral is the Necropolis. Trey loves a good cemetery, & it's not hard to see why when you enter this. These Victorian headstones highlight the ornate tastes of previous generations. Make sure to walk through & marvel at some of the most beautiful headstones you'll find in Britain!

We finished our day by going to Ashton Lane. Ashton Lane is a cobblestoned backstreet in the West End of Glasgow. There are numerous bars & restaurants to choose from, & we opted with stopping at Innis & Gunn Brewery. We sampled some great beers & sandwiches before closing out our day in Glasgow. Glasgow's such an incredible city & we had such a great time. If you love good food & beer then add Glasgow to your itinerary next time you're in the UK!

Thank you so much for watching & subscribe if you're new as we'd love to have you on board this crazy journey! See you in a few days!

SCOTLAND TRAVEL (2023) | 10 Beautiful Places To Visit In Scotland (+ Itinerary Suggestions!)

Scotland is the most northerly part of the four areas that make up the United Kingdom. It’s known for rugged landscapes defined by mysterious lochs, magical mountains, and gothic castles. Scotland also has a strong culture featuring Celtic music, traditional kilts, and sophisticated whiskies. In this video, we show 10 of the best places to visit in Scotland.

10. Edinburgh
Edinburgh is located in the south-east and it’s Scotland’s most beautiful and interesting city. This is the place to take in the unique Scottish culture, with a vibrant pub scene and intriguing historic sites.

???? Watch Edinburgh Video:

9. Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park
Situated approximately 60 miles or 96 kilometers to the west of Edinburgh, Loch Lomond & the Trassachs National Park is the oldest national park in Scotland. It’s one of the most popular places to visit thanks to its proximity to urban areas as well as a wide variety of activities.

☑️ Boat tour Loch Lomond:

8. Glencoe Valley
Glencoe Valley is located in the Scottish Highlands in western Scotland. The area is known for its impressive mountain scenery, beautiful waterfalls, and trails that climb steep peaks, such as the Pap of Glencoe.

7. Glen Nevis
Located right outside the town Fort William, Glen Nevis is one of the most spectacular and beautiful glens in the Highlands. Above all, it’s home to Britain’s highest mountain: Ben Nevis, which is an impressive day hike.

6. Glenfinnan Viaduct
Only a stone's throw away from Glen Nevis and Fort William, the Glenfinnan Viaduct is a must-visit in Scotland! Made famous in the Harry Potter films, this 21-arched viaduct is set amongst some of Scotland’s finest scenery!

☑️ Glenfinnan Viaduct Circular Trail:

☑️ Jacobite Steam Train info:

5. Inverness
Inverness is the northernmost city in the United Kingdom and is regarded as the cultural capital of the Scottish Highlands. Similar to Edinburgh, the city has a fantastic pub scene with great live music in the evenings.

???? Watch Inverness & Loch Ness Video:

4. Loch Ness
Located only a short drive from Inverness, Loch Ness is one of the most famous places in all of Scotland. The legend of the monster called Nessie goes back to ancient times.

3. Eilean Donan Castle
The Eilean Donan Castle is one of the most photographed castles in the world for a good reason. It’s perfectly situated on a small island with a charming curved bridge connecting it to the mainland.

2. Old Man of Storr (Isle of Skye)
Skye is the second largest island in Scotland and in our opinion, it has the most picturesque views you’ll encounter on your trip. The Old Man of Storr is the most iconic sight on the island and attracts many hikers and tourists alike.

1. Quiraing (Isle of Skye)
Quiraing is located on the Northern end of the Isle of Skye and boasts some of the best natural views in all of Scotland. The jagged landscape was caused by a landslip, which exposed strange rock formations underneath a large cliff.

My first time in Scotland | Edinburgh, Glasgow VLOG

Hello, my fellow travellers, and welcome to my Edinburgh vlog! In this video, I'll be showing you some of the must-see sights and attractions in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
The trip was very cheap, totalling at around 240 euros for flights, accommodation and public transport for 5 days. Edinburgh is just an incredible city that you have to put on your bucket list. The medieval architecture is stunning and views from Arthur's seat are a must-see for anyone visiting Edinburgh. Glasgow was nice aswell, but for me a bit boring.

My flight from Edinburgh to London was awesome, since It was my first time flying British Airways and the proximity of London city airport is just on another level. The RAF museum was on my bucket list for a long, but I have never had the time to go there whilst being in London, on this trip I had finally managed to go there. It definitely matched my expectations.

Trip costs:
- Flight (Ryanair) from Bratislava to Edinburgh: 35€
- Flight (British airways) from Edinburgh to London city: 45€
- Flight (Wizz air) from London Luton to Bratislava : 15€
- Public transport 58€
- Accommodation (hostel) in Edinburgh: 65€ (3 nights)
- Accommodation (hostel) in London: 18€ (1 night)

Food was around 25€ a day.

I travelled alone as a 17 year old, but I did not experience any deifficulties along my journey, I was asked for my consent forms only once at Edinburgh aiport.

Want to grab some great gear? We have used Osprey Packs for years & swear by them. Check them out here

Need some clothing for your next adventure? Patagonia has some pretty good stuff for all kinds of travelers.

Is GLASGOW worth visiting?

We spent a few days sightseeing in Glasgow, Scotland!

Join us on a thrilling 48-hour adventure in Glasgow, where we delve into the city's family-friendly attractions and uncover its lesser-known treasures. In this captivating video, we explore Glasgow's charm as a perfect destination for families seeking a memorable getaway.

Our journey begins at the unique Voco Grand Central, nestled right within a train station, offering unparalleled convenience for travelers and an exciting starting point for our exploration.

At the Riverside Museum, we witness the sheer excitement on our son's face as he marvels at an impressive collection of vehicles, making it an instant hit for young transportation enthusiasts.

Culinary delights await at Gaga, where we savor incredible Malaysian cuisine, a true treat for our taste buds and a refreshing addition to Glasgow's diverse culinary scene.

Strolling through the central city, we embark on a self-guided walking tour to admire the city's vibrant murals, showcasing Glasgow's artistic spirit and cultural richness.

And of course, no visit to Glasgow would be complete without trying haggis for the first time – a unique and unforgettable culinary experience.

This video is a celebration of Glasgow's family-friendly appeal, its hidden wonders, and its warm hospitality. Join us as we immerse ourselves in the essence of Glasgow, discovering why it's a destination worth exploring and sharing with fellow travelers and families alike.
