439 days that led us to LIVE in the Philippines ????????????????

It’s been 439 days since our family first stepped foot in the enchanting country of the Philippines. Since then, we’ve returned from the U.S. 3 more times, visited 23 of its 7,000 islands, and experienced everything from off-grid houseboats and beachfront glamping to chicken blood and fertilized duck embryos. What’s more is that we’ve fallen completely in love with the filipino people and culture — and found our new BFF family along the way. So enchanted are we with “Asia's Pearl of the Orient” that we’ve now leased a second home in Manila’s BGC neighborhood so that we can spend even more time exploring, zip lining, canyoneering, diving, boating, shopping, and of course, eating.

Well, we just launched our very first episode on our new Live the Philippines channel and BOY is it a doozy! Over 4 hours of incredible adventures showing you how we fell in love with the Philippines. We’ll take you back to our very first visit in September 2022 and show you our journey to where we are now, just over one year later. Moving forward, we’ll be launching an endless supply of new Philippines content, beginning with a behind-the-scenes look at how we found our apartment in BGC and the journey to make it our home when we fly back on Christmas Day! ????

If you’ve been following our journey on our ABC channel but never went back to see all of our dozens of Philippines episodes, this is a great way to get caught up. And if this is your first time watching the Lockwood family, this video will get you up-to-speed quickly on twhat . Thank you for watching and thank you for supporting our family! ❤️????????????????

MUST-TRY Croatian Food Tour in Istria, Croatia ???????? Pula, Rovinj, & Motovun Road Trip!

Watch Next: 24 Hours in Zagreb, Croatia ►
Watch Next: My First Day in Russia ►
More Information about this episode????

Istria County, Croatia - Pula, Rovinj, and Motovun; three incredible destinations on the Istrian Peninsula of Croatia. The western coast of Croatia is home to the beautiful region of Istria, which is often overlooked by Croatian tourists.

Check out Goran's Channel:

After leaving the capital of Zagreb, we set out on our Croatian road trip, and our first stop was Pula. Luckily, we had a wonderful local Croatian friend Renata, to take us around the Pula Arena and give a quick tour of Pula. We eat a traditional Croatian lunch, and enjoy some delicious gelato before having to leave Pula for Rovinj.

Renata's Watercolor workshops in Pula:

From Pula, we checked into our accommodation in Rovinjsko Selo, nearby the popular Rovinj, Croatia, and then drove into Rovinj for sunset. Rovinj is such a beautiful little city. It is also more popular for travelers than Pula.

The next morning, we leave Rovinj for Motovun to experience an Istria Food Tour around the amazing Istrian countryside with Eat Istria (

Our day started at the foothills of Motovun; a fairytale-like village in Istria. We started at Mira Tartufi farm, before heading out into the Istrian forest to hunt for truffles!

Miro Tartufi (Truffle Farm) -

After the first leg of our Istria food tour, we leave Motovun and drive through the Istrian countryside to try some delicious and overwhelming, haha, goat cheeses!

Kumparicka Goat Farm -

Finally, we finish our Istria food tour with lunch at a traditional Croatian Konoba - or local farm-to-table tavern. We try fresh pasta and meats that are 100% from this farm. Amazing!

Konoba DOMA -

We finish the day back in Rovinj for sunset again. I join my local friend Ella for more delicious gelato at her favorite spot right in the heart of Rovinj old town and then we hangout along the coast.

Gelateria I Nonni (Rovinj) -

We cap off an amazing experience her in Istria with a swim in the Adriatic Sea. This region of Croatia is absolutely incredible.

I hope you enjoyed this Best Things to do in the Istria Region of Croatia video ❤️ If so, please hit that ???? button, and leave a comment!

Otherwise, see ya next week from our Croatian Road Trip!!!

Living in a hidden Palawan houseboat on Coron Island, Philippines

A lot of people considering a trip to the Philippines wonder what it’s like to wake up in a floating, off-grid, over the water, eco-hut in a private lagoon off Coron island. Well, it's incredible.

These houseboats are the only accommodations and restaurant in Coron Island. The island is a National Reserve, Marine Reserve, Unesco Biosphere Reserve and the Ancestral Land of the Tagbanua Tribe.

Paolyn Houseboats employs over 124 people, including many members of the Tagbanua Tribe.

But no trip to the Philippines would be legit without visiting Coron island. This uninhabited jewel is popular for eco-tourism, world-class diving, and seeing WW2 shipwrecks. It’s also a favorite spot among Filipinos themselves, so you know it’s good.

While there, we took a full-day, guided tour with 2 members of the island’s ancestral tribe, the tagbanua, so if you’re planning a visit yourself, this is the episode for you. Let’s jump in.

ABOUT US.

We’re the Lockwoods: a family with 3 kids, 5 careers, and endless passion for adventure. Two years ago, we decided it was time for Phil's ad agency to abandon the in-person, 5-day workweek. So they 86’d the office and work hours, allowing our own family to start traveling almost constantly. We now work, school, and explore in a different place every week—from our own mountain and beach homes to exotic villas, resorts, and yachts around the world. As we experience and support diverse cultures, we hope to inspire more families to design a life of freedom and adventure.

Because there’s a new American Dream. It’s one that’s void of templated expectations, templated career paths, templated education, templated families, templated homes, and templated lives. Freedom is no longer an American tagline—it’s just the new, global way of life.

Every day that you spend doing something that doesn’t fulfill you to your core, you’re living your life on pause. You’re deferring genuine family time with no guarantee that there will be a tomorrow or a someday. Some people follow that mentality their entire lives. We’ve chosen to never live that way again.

We appreciate you following our journey. The more our channel grows, the more time we can spend traveling to more locations, contributing to these cultures, highlighting local businesses, and sharing inspiring stories from these communities. So please consider liking, commenting, and subscribing so that you can stick with us for the long haul.

This is My Favorite Place in Croatia. ????????

???? Things to do in Split, Croatia ►
???????? Epic Iceland Road Trip ►
???????? My First Day in Egypt ►

Ston, Croatia - Along our Croatia Road Trip from Split to Dubrovnik, we make a stop in Goran's hometown near Ston and Mali Ston; two incredible Croatian villages that people often overlook when traveling to Croatia.

Before arriving to Ston, we stop at the Neretva Delta; home to some of the most delicious fruits and veggies I have ever tasted. This is the true essence of Croatian Food, and a perfect pitstop on our Croatia Road Trip.

We stay at Goran's grandparents house in the traditional Croatian village of Čepikuće. It is a beautiful town that is close to Ston and Mali Ston.

On our way to Ston, Croatia there is a place where you can get some of the freshest oysters and mussels in the world! These oysters are so delicious, and we have the privilege to go out on a boat and see the harvesting process first-hand. This really makes you appreciate the food we passively eat.

Onward to the small town of Ston and neighboring Mali Ston (which just means little Ston). Two of the most Disney fairytale-like towns you’ll ever come across. It is an incredible region that most people skip because they travel direct to Split or Dubrovnik.

Another major reason why this is my favorite place in Croatia is because you have direct access to the island of Mljet. Mljet is an unspoiled island paradise that very few visitors take the time to explore. It’s said to be Croatia’s greenest island, with dense mediterranean forest and clear, clean water. On the Western end is an extensive National Park covering 5400 hectares of land and sea.

One of the most interesting attractions within the national park itself is St Mary’s Island; home to an incredible 12th Century Benedictine Monastery. Dating all the way back to ancient Greco-Roman geographers, The Romanesque Monastery has been rebuilt several times, and still features it’s original Roman ruins. The church itself is simply designed, but its position within this stunning landscape is what makes it so cool to see.

Finish the day up on Mljet with some cliff jumping and it's easy to see why I love this place so much!

I hope you enjoyed this video of things to do in Ston, Croatia and Mljet ❤️ If so, please hit that ???? button, and leave a comment!

The Amish way of life | FULL DOCUMENTARY

The Amish are one of the most surprising communities in the United States. Living as they did in the 17th century, they have no electricity or running water and travel by horse-drawn carriage. Mostly farmers, they lead an austere existence in near autarky. For them, only the word of the Lord counts, and they follow the biblical principles to the letter, inspired by their founder, Jacob Amman.

How can they live between an ancestral ideology and a civilization of consumption pushed to the extreme? What does it mean, in the 21st century, to live according to 400-year-old rules?

» THE EXOTIC FOODS

1. TALAD KAO MARKET: Mrs. Pan’s Bug Cart
ADDRESS: Soi Lat Krabang 5, Lat Krabang, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10520
OPEN: 2PM - 10PM

????The night before Mrs. Pan cooks the bugs she will later sell in the market, her son goes to Khlong Toei, Bangkok’s largest wet market, to purchase a variety of insects. She begins cooking each morning in order to make it to the market and set up her cart by 2pm. To cook the bugs, Mrs. Pan first adds oil and chopped pandan leaves to a frying pan. The pandan leaves add a nice fragrance to the bugs while cutting the bitter taste. She adds her first round of bugs and allows them to fry for roughly 30 minutes. She allows the crickets to cook for only 15 minutes. To enhance the flavors, she does not clean the pan between bugs. Then she’s off to the market, to fill hungry bellies with bugs!

????PRICE: 1.50 USD/50 THB for Mixed Bowl of Bugs
1.20 USD/40 THB for Giant Water Bug

2. TOY KUAY TEOW: Boat Noodles (Blood Noodle Soup)
ADDRESS: 15 Ratchawithi Rd, Khwaeng Thung Phaya Thai, Khet Ratchathewi, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon
OPEN: 8AM - 6PM

????Toy Kuay Teow has been serving up boat noodles for 50 years and is on its third generation. To make one of Bangkok’s most beloved noodle soups, combine chilli dressing, pork, meatballs, vermicelli noodles, pork blood, pork soup, scallions and herbs, bok choy, fried pork skin and fried flat noodles (optional). Beef boat noodles include beef blood, rather than pork blood.

????PRICE: .46 USD/15 THB for a small bowl
.91 USD/30 THB for a normal bowl

3. J'KHAI SEAFOOD: Horseshoe Crab Eggs
ADDRESS: 1300/3-4 Prachachuen Road, Bangsue Bangkok
OPEN: 3PM - 12AM

J’Khai Seafood started when the owner began selling food from a small cart 34 years ago. It is now a multi-story restaurant in Bangkok, and their signature “Thai curry steamed horseshoe crab eggs” recently won Wongnai Users’ Choice for best dish.

????To make this tasty meal, they first steam the horseshoe crab, cutting open the lower part of the crab to remove all of the eggs. Separately, create the seasoning, mixing Thai red curry paste, sugar, MSG, oyster sauce and carnation milk. Add the seasoning to an oiled, heated pan before adding chicken egg and finger root. Allow to stir-fry for a bit, then scoop everything back into the horseshoe crab shell. Take the horseshoe crab and grill it over hot charcoal until bubbling. Top it off with coconut milk, sliced lime leaves and carrots before diving in.

????PRICE: 15 USD/500 THB per Horseshoe Crab (may vary)

Ultimate Croatian Food Tour in Split, Croatia

???? Things To Do in Split, Croatia:
???????? Istria, Croatia Food Tour:
???? Split Food Tour:

Split, Croatia - After a full-day of discovering the best things to do in Split, Croatia; this afternoon we're heading out with Dino of Split Food Tours to get a taste of more Croatian food along the Adriatic coast.

We make five stops in total on this Ultimate Croatian Food Tour, and here's a little more information about each:

1. Dalmatian Prosciutto & Cheese - Our Croatian Food Tour begins literally inside the walls of Diocletian's Palace (Štorija Fine Dining) for some champagne and a few quintessential appetizers. The Prosciutto is from the town of Drniš; famous for their prosciutto making thanks to the dry bura (bora) wind that passes through the area.

2. Local Seafood - Next up, it's time for locally-sourced Croatian seafood at Leonis Restaurant right in old town Split. Delicious octopus salad and cuttlefish risotto were the two Croatian dishes we tried here.

3. Traditional Konoba - We first visited a traditional Croatian Konoba (tavern) on the Istria food tour, and this location didn't disappoint either. The star of the show was Pašticada; a slow-cooked Croatian food staple that is as delicious as it is hearty.

4. Burek - A Croatian food tour wouldn't be complete without a stop for Burek. The best place to eat Burek in Split is said to be at this place, St. Burek. I would agree.

5. Gelato - Last, but certainly not least, the final scene of this Croatia Travel Vlog here in Split is with gelato at Gallery Gelato.

I hope you enjoyed this Ultimate Croatian Food Tour in Split, Croatia video ❤️ If so, please hit that ???? button, and leave a comment!

First Day in Manila

Finally. This is the first of a series of videos documenting our recent holiday in the Philippines. This is more of an overview of what's to come but we snuck in a few other bits.

Our first stop was Marikina, our hometown and the shoe capital of the Philippines. We finally headed down to Eastwood City to eat at a legendary Filipino food chain called Gerry's Grill where we feasted on the likes of their famous Sisig, Crispy Pata and more!

We honestly hope you guys enjoy this video and the videos to come because it was as enjoyable for us to film and experience our homeland as it was a steep and stressful learning curve on how to properly vlog for the first time :')

ENJOY!

A VERY Emotional Day in Cebu, Philippines

I just thought it was going to be a fun day exploring things to do in Cebu, Philippines. I visited Magellan's Cross, Fort San Pedro, Taboan Public Market, and the House of Lechon, but the most memorable moment came at the hand of two old photos...
