First Impressions of DELHI, INDIA ????????

I explored Delhi for the first time in this video, I am staying in Paharganj, a not so nice area of Delhi, but still nonetheless had an awesome time exploring and met some really interesting people here which I would not have seen in the more modern side of Delhi. This vlog turned into a bit of a food vlog accidentally because I kept seeing lovely food options. Main Bazaar was also really cool with the retro hotel lights making me feel like I am in Las Vegas.

First Impressions of India - Comparing Old and New Delhi // India Travel Vlog

We made it to India!! Come with us as we explore Old and New Delhi during as we develop our first impressions of India. In this video we really wanted to show the multiple faces of Delhi; a city most commonly known to the Western World as a place of noise, dirt, and poverty. And while that can all be found here, New Delhi and Cyber City showed us that the opposite things can be found here too: quiet, cleanliness, and wealth. There is so much to discover in Delhi!

If you are visiting Delhi soon or this is your first time in Delhi as well, then this video will also help you plan your time in this giant city! To really develop our first impressions of India, we wanted to explore as much of Delhi as we could (without overloading this vlog too much!). Over the course of a couple days (thanks rain), we were able to see India Gate, Delhi's Red Fort, Chandni Chowk, Jama Masjid Mosque, Connaught Place, Cyber City and Cyber Hub (which are just outside of Delhi in an area called Gurugram), and of course we rode the top-notch Delhi Metro!

Delhi is a huge city, and the two areas we were primarily in for this video are called Old Delhi and New Delhi. Old Delhi is the oldest part of the city and was originally built during the Moghuls. There are incredible pieces of history in Old Delhi and the infamous Chandni Chowk is here. Chandni Chowk is an area well known for being home to many, many shops and residences packed tightly together. Because it was built before cars were invented, the roads are more like small alleyways. There is never a dull moment here! New Delhi was designed by the British during colonial times and tends to attract high-end restaurants, hotels, and shops.

It is very common for travelers to make Delhi the first stop on their visit to India because it is part of the Golden Triangle in India. The Golden Triangle is made up of Delhi, Agra (where the Taj Mahal is), and Jaipur (commonly called the Pink City). For tourists who are short on time, visiting the three cities in the Golden Triangle is a great way to get a small peak into what India is like! Like so many others, Delhi was our first stop in this new country and was a great place to make our first impressions of India!

First Impressions of India ???????? / Foreigners travelling in India

Help us reach our goal of 500,000 Followers on Facebook:
????

This video is about our first impressions of Delhi, India. This is a city we have always wanted to visit and we cannot believe that we actually got to explore Delhi.

Of course, we started our trip on a Rikshaw. We headed towards the metro in order to take us from the south of Delhi to the north. We had to take 2 metro lines in order to get there but the Delhi train system is designed so well, with trains going all over the city, so it was no problem at all.

We began exploring Delhi by starting at the Red Fort. The Red Fort was built and designed by Shah Jahan, an Emperor during the Mughal Era. He is the same Emperor that built the Tag Mahal for his wife. The red fort was one of the biggest forts here in India and is a must when visiting Delhi.

Thereafter we saw a little theme park right next to the fort and were quite curious as to what rides they had and if we could take one. Once we had walked around the park, we found a ride that only cost INR 50 per person and decided to go on it. Let's just say that we haven't done anything as crazy as this in a long time. FYI, the safety bar was tied with a rope :0

We then head into Chandi Chowk where found some Jalebi, a popular sweet dish here in India.
Jalebi is a popular sweet snack in south and west Asia, Africa, and Mauritius. It goes by many names, including jilapi, zelepi, jilebi, jilipi, zulbia, jerry, mushabak, z’labia, or zalabia. Is basically dough that they squeeze out into hot oil in the shape of a circle. Once it's fried, they dunk it in syrup to give the Jalebi taste. They added condensed milk to ours so you can only imagine what it tastes like.

As it was afternoon, we headed to a place called Haldirams, a popular shop in India, where we decided to try some Chole Bhature. Chole bhature is a food dish popular in the Northern areas of the Indian subcontinent. It is a combination of chana masala and bhatura/puri, a deep-fried bread made from maida.

Once our tummies were full, we climbed onto a bicycle rikshaw in order to go to Jama Masjid. Jama Masjid is an Old mosque in Delhi where you can actually climb to the top of one of the minarets. We thought the bicycle rikshaw would be relaxing, but with so much traffic and people walking everywhere, it was more chaotic than relaxing. With the sounds of scooters hooting and people shouting, it was an experience on its own.

Finally, we made it to Jama Masjid. We headed up to the top of the minaret to see the views of Delhi. Once we got to the top, things got crazy. So many people were squished into this small little place with nowhere to stand, and it had us all thinking, why are we here? But once we saw the views of Delhi, we understood!

First Impressions of Delhi | What Surprised Me as a British Tourist

Welcome to my India series!

India is one of the most unique countries I’ve ever visited. From the diversity, to the food, to the landscape, to its fast paced nature… there is no other country quite like India.

I recently got the opportunity to spend two weeks exploring India and my first stop was the capital, Delhi. With a population of over 32 million, Delhi is one of the busiest cities I’ve ever visited.

On today’s video I share my first impressions of the Indian capital as well as explore the streets of Delhi, visit the famous Chandni Chowk and take my first ride in a rickshaw.

SHOCKED First Time TRAVELLING INDIA ???????? First Impressions Good + Bad in DELHI

One of the most overwhelming countries in the world. India has so many good and bad things but there's nothing like it. This is my first time travelling India as a backpacker.
In this video we stay in the Paharganj neighbourhood, which is known for backpacking. We stumble upon one of the most famous restaurants for chole bhature, share our favourite street chai, go to a fancy South Indian restaurant in New Delhi, experience Holi in Delhi, get an Indian SIM card, learn how to buy shoes in India, go to FAB India, haggle at the Janpath market and I share what I hate about India (pollution, spitting, honking) and what I love about India (people and food).

We are travelling India for one month beginning in northern India: Delhi, Varanasi, Agra, Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and then heading to south India: Mumbai and Goa.

You can support my work at where I share tips that don't make it to videos and behind the scenes content.

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” and taking more trips together and finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and travel hacking over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left January 10, 2016. We started this YouTube channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling. So we extended our 1 year trip to THREE years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before Nate turns 30 (which is March 20, 2019)! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

After spending almost a year and a half 365 days 24/7 with Alina, I have decided to go on a solo travelling experience to my new country - India, a country full of spices, rich culture, history and friendly people. It is my first time entering India, one of my top bucket list travel destinations, especially because Indian food is one of my favourite cuisines.

In this episode, I flew to Delhi and met up with my local Indian friend Jai whom I had the pleasure of staying in an Indian household for the first time. Join me as I explore India first hand, showing you the top travel destinations, Indian street food and local delicacies. Let's go!

Places I visited in this video:
1. Humayun’s Tomb

2. Saravana Bhavan

3. Gurudwara Sri Bangla Sahib

4. Keventers Milkshake

5. Gupta Pan Shop

First Impressions Of INDIA (Can't Believe This Is Delhi)

Our first impressions of crazy India and New Delhi as we explore the Connaught neighborhood and then head to Pahargang! We had planned to go to Old Delhi, but since there were some things going on, we decided to stick to Connaught Place. We explored the tranquil central park and visited its huge Indian flag, right in the middle of Delhi. One of the highlights of the day was the sikh temple of Gurudwara Bangla Sahib.

We hope you enjoyed our first day in Delhi India which was full of surprises! We are really excited to finally be in India and we're taking you along for the ride! :) NEXT UP: an Indian street food tour in Delhi, with all of the deliciousness that Delhi has to offer! Please make sure to subscribe so you don't miss this next part of our journey, coming up very, very soon!
