The Pacific Coast of Costa Rica offers a wide range of Highlights that define the country as a dream destination. From green jungles with waterfalls and raging rivers to numerous beautiful beaches and an enormous variety of wildlife.

During my 4 week lasting trip through Costa Rica I spent the majority of my time in this part of the country. After joining an active tour that focused on rafting, hiking and local living, I got to explore the Pacific Coast from Santa Teresa all the way down to Uvita independently. Besides surfing I used my time to visit a few national parks along the way and enjoyed the tranquil atmosphere in the smaller beach villages a bit off the tourist route.

Hey guys, it's Samantha here and welcome to the Mytanfeet channel. In this video, we have part 2 of the best day trips from the Guanacaste coast. If you want to see part 1, the link is below in the description, otherwise, let's get right into part 2.

In no particular order, the first Guanacaste day tour on our list is Hacienda El Viejo. Hacienda El Viejo is a privately owned farm offering 3 different types of tours: rum, cultural and boat.

Visitors can take a rum tour to learn about El Viejo's house rum made with the hacienda's own sugar cane, a cultural tour to learn how to make tortillas and press sugar cane or a wildlife watching boat tour in their private reserve to see animals like crocodiles, monkeys and iguanas.

The next day tour is one of our favorite day trips from Tamarindo because you get to experience a completely different kind of forest than at the beach and you get to see sloths. This tour goes to a sloth reserve and the Heliconias hanging bridges in Bijagua to discover the primary rainforest, walk the hanging bridges and see wildlife. This is an excellent excursion for families or any nature and animal lover and we highly recommend it as Bijagua is one of the closest and best places to see sloths and animals in the wild from the Guanacaste coast.

Next up on our list as best day trips from Playas del Coco, Flamingo or Tamarindo is scuba diving. One of the most popular islands for scuba diving is the Las Catalinas, a 30 minute boat ride from Flamingo and in Costa Rica, you don't have to be certified to scuba dive because you can go on a discovery dive which doesn't require certification. You can see turtles, manta rays, sea stars, jellyfish, tropical fish and even white tip reef sharks.

The fourth place to visit is Rincon de la Vieja National Park very close to Liberia. Visitors can hike the trails in the park to see the boiling mud pots or to the waterfalls.

Another option is to visit one of the adventure parks right outside the national park to enjoy their one day combo tours. There are several adventure parks offering fun outdoor activities like ziplining, white water tubing, horseback riding, waterfalls, hot springs and mud baths.

And lastly, La Fortuna. Although we recommend to stay a night or two in la Fortuna because it's a 3.5 hour drive from the coast so it's not close, but you can visit as a day trip from Tamarindo or Playas del Coco or Liberia. La Fortuna has a ton of fun activities such as La Fortuna waterfall, hiking around the Arenal Volcano, ziplining, safari floats, horseback riding and hot springs, which is definitely a must do.

We hope you guys found our part 2 video on the best Guanacaste day trips helpful, remember you can do any of these trips from Samara, Tamarindo, Flamingo, Playas del Coco, Liberia, La Cruz and any of the neighboring beach towns. If you guys want more information, I'll leave links to our blog posts in the description and you can also contact us to book any tours. Thanks for watching our video and we'll see you in the next one.

Hey guys, this is Samantha and welcome to another Mytanfeet video. in this video We are going to do part 1 of day trips in Guanacaste and these are going to be the best day trips from Tamarindo, Playas del Coco or any of the neighboring beaches. We have a lot to share with you so let's go.

Number one on our list is Rio Celeste, the sky blue river inside Tenorio Volcano National Park. Rio Celeste is the perfect day trip for hiking and nature lovers, as you will be trekking through the lush rainforest to see the waterfall and sky blue river. The entire trail is around 6 kilometers or 3.5 miles and is a must see in Costa Rica.

The next best day trip in Guanacaste is Diamante Eco Adventure Park. This adventure park is excellent for families as they have an animal sanctuary with daily sloth feeding presentations, a traditional house for a cultural experience of chocolate, coffee and sugar cane and one of the most exciting ziplining tours in the country. Their 1.3 kilometer oceanview zipline is a must do in Costa Rica for adrenaline junkies. They also offer an excellent lunch buffet.

Next is one of our most highly recommended day trips from Playas del Coco or Tamarindo, Palo Verde National Park. The Palo Verde day trip consists of a safari boat tour down the Tempisque River to see wildlife such as iguanas, bats, monkeys, crocodiles and river birds. It doesn't require any strenuous activity so Palo Verde is the perfect day trip in Guanacaste for those who are visiting with seniors or young kids as you will be riding a covered motorized riverboat and it takes about half a day so you can be back at your hotel by mid afternoon. Palo Verde offers a highly interesting and educational wildlife watching experience for all visitors.

The next day trip in Guanacaste is for the surfers, a surf trip to Witch's Rock. There are a ton of surfing beaches in Guanacaste including Tamarindo but for those looking for the ultimate surf experience, a Witch's Rock surf trip is a must. You'll boat about an hour from Playas del Coco to the iconic surf spot inside Santa Rosa National Park and on heavy days with a swell, waves can get up to 6 feet or more, ideal for those dreaming of getting barrelled in Costa Rica. On normal days, waves are absolutely perfect for longboarding and shortboarding, with long, open and glassy A-frame waves.

The last day trip in this video is the La Leona waterfall hike. This waterfall hike is only 30 minutes from Liberia and you'll be hiking in the tropical dry forest, swimming in a beautiful blue river and climbing through caves and canyons to get to a hidden cave waterfall. The La Leona waterfall hike is definitely for those looking for a memorable outdoor activity and after the fun hike, you can relax in their natural blue river pools.

I hope you guys enjoyed the video and if you're interested in any of these activities, we have links to our posts in the description below for more details and you can contact us if you want to book any of these tours. Thanks for watching and we'll see you in the next one.

ABOUT US:

As the #retirementtravelers, we have always dreamed of traveling, but we never in a million years thought we would become #travelvloggers and start a YouTube channel. But, that is what we did! We work hard every day to become better and create something that others will enjoy. Having a community of friends, old and new, follow our journey is fun and exciting to us.

In 2019, we achieved our goal of visiting every state in the union in our Airstream. We also visited every national park in the lower 48. We are big believers in lists, so of course we plan to see the remaining 12 parks in the next few years.

In 2021, we made the big decision to extreme downsize to just a suitcase and a small backpack, each. We started our journey around the world beginning in Central America. We hope that over the next ten years, we will have seen many beautiful things, made many memories and new friends, and shared the experience with our children and grandchildren.

We hope you enjoy the journey with us. Drop us a note in the comments and be sure to hit subscribe! ???? ???? ????

My perfect La Fortuna Itinerary | Review & Guide

#LaFortunaItinerary #ThingstodoLaFortuna #ArenalTrips

Wrapping up 4 days in La Fortuna, Costa Rica, I wanted to do a quick review and also include what would be my perfect itinerary for La Fortuna and Arenal if I could have my time back.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my time in La Fortuna. The climate is great. Sure, it does rain a bit but it doesn't have the stifling heat that Costa Rica's coast has. It's peaceful. You wake up to a crazy amount of birdsong. There's loads of stuff to do from volcano treks, waterfalls, hot springs and zip lining. Essentially the whole of La Fortuna is set up for tourism so it's super easy to organise various trips and everyone is incredibly helpful.

If you're in Costa Rica I would highly recommend making the trip to La Fortuna. Personally, I would visit Arenal/La Fortuna after the coast so that you have some contrast both in terms of climate and in terms of how relaxing it can be.

Here's my perfect itinerary for La Fortuna over 4 days. As you can see, there's loads of things to do in La Fortuna:

Day 1: Rio Celeste. A full day trip about 1 hour and 45 minutes from La Fortuna. It involves a hike to the river and waterfalls where the water is, well, a crazy colour. Turquoise, baby blue water. The photos and videos almost look fake.

Day 2: Ziplining. Sky Adventures are the most well known company in the area but you have a number to choose from. The zip lines themselves are very high and very long, some are 170m high and 800m long, giving you an incredible view of the surrounding area.

You could also go white water rafting - we actually bumped into a group that had just returned from white water rafting and they were very impressed!

Day 3: Mistico Hanging Bridges. Get there early so that you are the first ones in the park and take your time at the first bridge (it has the best views). Incredibly peaceful and if you're lucky you'll be able to see Arenal Volcano over the rainforest canopy.

Follow this up with La Fortuna Waterfall in the afternoon. You can go to the waterfall in the morning but it might be too cold to really enjoy. The free waterfalls are very close to the main La Fortuna waterfall so you can easily do both in a couple of hours.

Day 4: Hot Springs. We went to Tabacón Resort & Spa which is one of the more premium hot springs, but you do have multiple options. Just relax and soak yourself in the natural volcanic thermal spas. Again, you can also do the free ones either as a cheaper option or in addition to the paid hot springs.

And enjoy!

PUERTO VIEJO, AN AFFORDABLE VACATION! (COSTA RICA)

Puerto Viejo is a much cheaper Caribbean vacation alternative than any place I visited in all of the Caribbean side of Mexico. I made videos from Cancun, Isla Mujeres, Puerto Morelos, Akumal, Playa Del Carmen, Cozumel, Tulum and Mahahual which covered the whole Quintana Roo coast of Mexico and the Yucatan peninsula. I could not stay for as cheap in any of those locations compared to Puerto Viejo. I also traveled along the Oaxaca coast in Mexico and could not stay for as cheap there even in the famous place of Puerto Escondido and Huatulco. Puerto Viejo is a hidden paradise in my opinion.

The rest of Costa Rica had been expensive but the Carribean side was much cheaper than any place i visited in Costa Rica.

The guesthouse where I stayed was called Veronicas Place in Puerto Viejo. Also check skyscanner.com for cheap flights.
