Tofo is a small tourist and fishing town on a pristine beach on Mozambique's Indian Ocean coast.

Popular for scuba diving, snorkelling, surfing and more, it's also host to a range of guesthouses, bars and restaurants; activities like horseriding and kayaking, and of course long beach walks.

See a taste of what Tofo has to offer, along with a glimpse of the more traditional fishing activity which takes place here, as well as a local wedding celebration we stumbled across!

Bazaruto islands, Mozambique | Beaches, resorts, places, nature | Video 4k | Mozambique what to see

Bazaruto Islands, Mozambique. 10 km off the coast of Mozambique is one of the brightest and most picturesque national island reserves in the Indian Ocean - the Bazaruto archipelago. Paradise Islands - this is how all the tourists who visited them call these places - they really deserve this honorary epithet. From a bird's eye view, filmed by a drone in 4k, a bewitching picture of a boundless azure ocean with turquoise water, kilometers of deserted sandy beaches and an untouched natural area appears before your eyes.

general information
The Bazaruto archipelago, consisting of 5 islands, is located on the east coast of the African continent in close proximity to the coast, the islands belong to the Republic of Mozambique and have been the country's national marine park since the 70s of the last century. The territory of the park includes 5 islands - Barazuto, Benguerra, Magaruque, Santa Carolina and Santa Isabel and coral reefs around them. From the country's capital, Maputo, the islands are more than 800 km away.
The Bazaruto National Reserve is a protected area of almost one and a half thousand square kilometers (the vast part is the ocean and an area of u200bu200b5 islands).
The population of the archipelago is not numerous - only about 4 thousand inhabitants, they are engaged in fishing and growing cereals.
In recent decades, the Bazaruto Islands have begun to compete in popularity with the Seychelles and the Maldives, there is everything for an amazing vacation and even beyond measure.

How to get there
To get to this corner of the African paradise - you need to make a little effort. For Europeans, the best route to Bazaruto will be: first, an air flight to the largest city of South Africa - Johannesburg, then by plane or bus to the coastal Mozambican city of Vilanculos, and from the mainland to overcome the last few tens of sea kilometers to the islands (you can by boat or plane).
Other starting points for sending to the islands are from mainland cities - Inhassoro, from the capital Maputo.

Beaches
The pride, beauty and splendor of the beach area of the islands is amazing. Incredible deserted beaches with water so clear that visibility in dive sites reaches 40 m. On the largest island - Bazaruto - the length of the coastline of the beaches is about 30 km. This desert heavenly bliss - to feel only the ocean, endless beaches stretching into the distance and a moment of happiness - for the sake of this, vacationers strive here.

Nature
Nature generously rewarded these places with rich flora and fauna - especially the abundance of representatives of the underwater world. Stunning landscapes of groves of orange trees and cashew nuts give way to picturesque dunes - and again rest against the sand of the beaches.
For divers and snorkelers, there is expanse here: in the coastal waters you can see humpback whales, dolphins, dugongs, rays, starfish and sharks, as well as many exotic fish.
The beautiful places of the archipelago with a unique ecosystem make a vacation on Bazaruto a dream come true for any tourist.

Main islands
The archipelago consists of 5 islands (another one is very tiny) - two are uninhabited, on the remaining three there are settlements - villages.
The islands differ from each other in a variety of landscapes: on the largest of the islands, grass lowlands, coconut groves, and huge sand dunes are found. On others - dense tropical forests, lakes and on all the islands - magnificent deserted beaches surrounded by wildlife.

What to watch
In addition to a paradise beach holiday, there is more than enough entertainment on the islands for the most demanding taste:
- boat trip from island to island, exploring the beauties of each;
- sport fishing will bring a lot of emotions and a big catch (from October to January you can see marlin when feeding tuna shoals);
- horse riding on the island;
- diving - centers and acquaintance with the unique exotic nature.

Useful information for tourists
Arriving on vacation to the Bazaruto Islands, you need to arm yourself with a few useful tips:
- before the trip, you need to familiarize yourself with the political situation in Mozambique, civil wars in the country happen often;
- comfortable lodges are offered for vacationers on the islands, although luxury hotels are also present;
- the prices for holidays on the islands are quite expensive; when traveling to the islands from the mainland for a day, it is better to take a set of provisions with you;
- before going to the beaches, you need to consult with the locals - on some beaches, due to low tide, there is no water almost to the horizon.

Mozambique 4k

Bon visionnement!
