My name is Zahi Shaked
In 2000 I became a registered liscenced tourist guide.
My dedication in life is to pass on the ancient history of the Holy Land.

Following upon many years of travel around the world, which was highlighted by a very exciting emotional and soul-searching meeting with the Dalai Lama, I realized that I had a mission. To pass on the the history of the Holy Land, its religions, and in particular, the birth and development of Christianity.

In order to fulfill this calling in the best way possible, I studied in depth, visited, and personally experienced each and every important site of the ancient Christians. I studied for and received my first bachelors degree in the ancient history of the Holy Land, and am presently completing my studies for my second degree.(Masters)

Parralel to my studies, and in order to earn a living, I was employed for many years in advertising. What I learned there was how to attract the publics attention, generate and, increase interest, and assimilate information. All this I use as tools to describe, explain and deepen the interest in the sites that we visit. From my experience, I have learned that in this way, the Holy Land becomes more than just history, and that the large stones that we see scattered about in dissaray, join together one by one until they become - a Byzantine Church. This also happens when I lead a group of Pilgrims in the Steps of Jesus. We climb to the peak of Mount Precipice, glide over the land to the Sea of Galilee, land on the water and see the miracle which enfolds before us. This is a many faceted experience. Not only history which you will remember and cherish, but an experience which I hope will be inplanted in your hearts and minds, and will accompany you all the days of your life.

MOUNT NEBO JORDAN: MOSES PROMISE LAND VIEW

My visit to Mount Nebo, where the prophet Moses was told to climb up and view the promise land. There is a new church built over an old Byzantium church, i.e. The Church of the Memory of Moses with beautiful mosaics inside. An impressive replica of the Brazen Serpent can be seen outside the Church. Israel can be seen toward the west, a truly spectacular panoramic view.

✈️ We created an app to help you save up to 80% on international flights! Try it risk free ➡️ ⬅️
We spent the last 2 days on a road trip through Jordan exploring some of the most fascinating historical sites this country is home to. We had no idea the amount of incredible sites we would see on this trip, including: the ancient city of Jarash (most well-preserved city outside of Italy), Jesus's baptism site on the Jordan river (where we were about 20 feet away from Israel), Mt. Nebo (where God showed Moses the Promised Land), and SO MUCH MORE. Of course lots of delicious Jordanian food was involved. We ended the day at the Dead Sea where we will float tomorrow. :)

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this YouTube channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! So we extended our 1 year trip to now FOUR years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

Mount Nebo - Jordan

Mount Nebo is a mountain ridge mentioned in the Bible as the place where Moses, the leader of the Israelites, was granted a view of the Promised Land before his death.

Its association with Moses and its role in the Old Testament make it a significant destination for religious pilgrimages

This elevated site, approximately 700 meters (2,300 feet) above sea level, offers a panoramic view of the West Bank, the Jordan River valley, and, on a clear day, even Jerusalem.

In 2000, Pope John Paul II visited Mount Nebo during his pilgrimage to the Holy Land, further highlighting its importance as a religious and historical site

The Serpent Statue represents the biblical story of Moses and the bronze serpent4It was created by French sculptor Prosper d'Épinay, also known as Nemo, known for his work in caricature and sculpture4
The Memorial Church of Moses was constructed in the second half of the 4th century AD to commemorate the place of Moses' death
It houses some of the best-preserved and well-presented mosaics in Jordan
which date back to the 5th to 8th centuries, depict various biblical scenes and add to the artistic and cultural significance of the site.

Mount Nebo - Jordan

Mount Nebo

A mountain of the Abarim range east of Jordan
and the Dead Sea, from which Moses surveyed
the Promised Land (Deuteronomy 32:49),
and where he died (Deuteronomy 34:1-5).
The same is probably mentioned in the
wanderings in Numbers 33:47: And departing
from Helmondeblathaim, they came to the
mountains of Abarim over against Nabo
(Hebrew Nebo), though here the reference
may be to the town (see NABO).
The location of Mount Nebo is doubtful.
A comparison of Deuteronomy 3:27
(cf. Numbers 27:12) with Deuteronomy 32:49
indicates that the top of Phasga and
Nebo were variant names referring to the
same spot. Difficulty arises in that from no
point of the Abarim range does it seem
possible to behold all the territory
mentioned in Deuteronomy 34:1-3,
especially if the furthermost sea
means the Mediterranean, as in Deuteronomy
11:24. By some Nebo is identified with the
modern Jebel Neba, an oblong ridge on an
elevated plateau five miles south-west of
Hesebon, 2700 feet above sea level.

Mount Nebo Jordan ???????? Walking Tour

According to the Bible, Moses ascended Mount Nebo, in the land of Moab (today in Jordan), and from there he saw the Land of Canaan, which God had said he would not enter; Moses then died there. The Bible says Moses' burial place was unknown. A monument atop Mount Nebo commemorates Moses' death after seeing Canaan, across the Jordan valley. A purported grave of Moses is located at Maqam El-Nabi Musa, in the West Bank, 11 km south of Jericho and 20 km east of Jerusalem.

Mount Nebo is then mentioned again in the Bible in 2 Maccabees, when the prophet Jeremiah hid the tabernacle and the Ark of the Covenant in a cave there.

A Christian church from Byzantine times stands on the top of Mount Nebo.

On March 20, 2000, Pope John Paul II visited the summit of Mount Nebo during his pilgrimage to the Holy Land. During his visit, he planted an olive tree next to the Byzantine chapel, as a symbol of peace. Pope Benedict XVI visited the site in 2009, gave a speech, and looked out from the top of the mountain in the direction of Jerusalem.

A QUICK video in Mount Nebo, Jordan! Where Moses Saw the Promise Land before he died , Madaba by Luxury Trip Girl

A breathtaking view over Israel in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, this is the mountain where Moses is said to have seen the Promise Land before he died, according to writings in the Old Testament. Mount Nebo is about 1000 meters high and is about 10 kilometers from Madaba, another beautiful small city in Jordan. This is a very quick video of what I saw in Mount Nebo. I didn't film too much due to the sanctity of the location and religious significance.
