10 Most Depressing Cities in the World

What are the most depressing cities in the world? This world is made up of satisfying and nauseating places. The way man has managed this earth has made some parts of it to be very depressing. In this video, we will be presenting the top 10 most depressing cities in the world you can ever live in. Though facilities and services in these cities may not be necessarily bad, living there doesn’t bring happiness. These cities may not necessarily be dirty, the action and attitude are far from being neat.
This listing of the most depressing cities to live in the world shouldn’t be seen as an insult or a way to hurt any individual living in these cities. It’s just for educational and information purposes.
10. Chisinau, Moldova
Chisinau, the capital of Moldova and home to more than 800,000, is one of the most depressing cities in the world. It’s often a victim of natural disasters. The post-Soviet city with all of its positive and negative characteristics is one of the unsafe places to live in.
Chisinau is vulnerable to a wide range of natural disasters, such as droughts, early frost onset, earthquakes, floods, hail storms, and landslides, as well as severe weather patterns. Before you travel to this city, make sure you are aware of the current circumstances regarding the severity and likelihood of this danger.
9. Sana'a, Yemen
The city of Sana'a, the capital of Yemen, can be quite dangerous because of the high influence of terrorists and an extremely high crime rate. Sana'a is located in the Yemeni Mountains and serves as the country's administrative center. It is not advisable to travel to Sanaa. There’s a significant chance of becoming a victim of a terrorist attack and being murdered anywhere in Yemen, including the capital. The threat of crime is high at all hours of the day and night.
Because of the spate of terrorism in Sanaa, Americans are warned by the government to avoid traveling there. Civil conflicts and local demonstrations both enhance the likelihood of danger. It's one of the most depressing cities to live in in the world.
8. Kouvola, Finland
Kouvola is quite infamous for its racism and high crime rate. It’s a dangerous and mentally harassing place to live. Located in South-Eastern Finland, near the Kymi River and surrounded by woods, it has an unusual blend of urban and rural. Some 81,000 people are living in about 7,500 summer houses in this Finnish city of 450 lakes.
According to one author, the unilingual town is “perhaps the worst city in Finland owing to the high percentage of racism.” Even though Kouvola is considered a backwater village with bigoted residents, it’s not nearly as scary as it appears on the surface. It also has a high rate of violent crime, such as assault and armed robbery.

12 Most Depressing Cities in the United States

What are the most depressing cities to live in the United States? Hey, have you ever wondered what the most depressing cities in the United States are? I know this might not be the most uplifting topic, and maybe you’re thinking, “why would anyone want to know this?” But hear me out! There are a lot of people who are curious about this topic for several reasons. Some people want to see if their city is on the list, some want to see what cities to avoid, and others just want to know more about the places with the highest levels of depression. Whatever your reason is, we’ve got you covered! In this video, I will talk about the 12 most depressing cities in the United States. But before I start, I just want to inform you that this video is not meant to be slanderous or mean-spirited in any way. These are just facts based on data collected by various sources. So with that out of the way, let's get started.
12. Springfield, MO
In Springfield, there were 2,993 violent crimes reported in 2020 or 632 violent crimes for every 100,000 residents. Despite a slight decrease in overall violent crime in the metro area in 2020, the reported number of homicides increased more than 50%, from 17 to 26. That's one reason it's on the list of most depressing cities in the United States. Crime is disproportionately concentrated in poor neighborhoods. In Springfield, 15.4% of residents live below the poverty level, compared to 12.3% of all Americans. That means more people are struggling to make ends meet and fewer resources to go around. When people struggle to survive, they are more likely to commit crimes.
11. Camden, New Jersey
With just over 74,000 people, Camden is the 11th most depressing city in the United States. 37% of residents live in poverty, and the average household income is just $26,105. The city has recently experienced a population decline, with a 4% decrease from 2010 to 2018.

Camden, New Jersey, was once a manufacturing city, but that industry completely collapsed between the 1950s and the 1970s. Although it has a reputation as one of the most dangerous cities in the nation and has a high crime rate, Camden has been working to revitalize itself in recent years. The city has seen a decrease in murders due to enhanced police actions.
10. Flint, Michigan
Despite its well-publicized problems, Flint is still home to 96,000 people. That's a 6% decrease from 2010, but it's still a significant population. Unfortunately, 41% of those people live in poverty while just over half are employed. The collapse in the industry has been difficult for the city. By 1990, General Motors had reduced its workforce there, resulting in thousands of job losses. Flint is arguably best known for the lead poisoning problem that has plagued the city's water supply since 2014. Additionally, there are 20,000 abandoned properties, a persistently high murder rate, and an opioid crisis to cope with. It's no wonder that Flint is considered one of the most miserable places in America.
9. Rockford, Illinois
It is no secret that Rockford, IL has been struggling for quite some time now. Ever since the manufacturing industry started to decline in the early 1980s, the city's economy has been in a downward spiral. This is reflected in the high unemployment rate - 11.2% at the latest count, which is one of the highest in the country. In addition, Rockford has the dubious distinction of having one of the highest property tax rates in the U.S. It means that many residents struggle to make ends meet. As of now, it's good to know that Rockford is starting to see some signs of revitalization. People have a motivation to stay and explore downtown because of the independent stores, local art, entertainment, and diversified food scene. Hoping that this city makes a full recovery soon.

She Escaped North Korea (to America). Crazy Story.

Today in Chicago, I had the pleasure to meet a young North Korean girl named Evelyn. 6 years ago, when she was 15 years Evelyn, she escaped North Korea with her mother for a better life. Both without passports, they spent 1 month traveling by foot across China, Laos and Thailand - where the South Korean government officially recognized her as a refugee and she was granted permission to migrate to the United States of America.

In this eye-opening interview, Evelyn tells me her escape story and how she has managed to integrate so well into American society. She lives all by herself and just bought her first car (with her hard-earned income!).

Top 10 most depressing cities in the United States. Some are in really bad shape.

Top 10 most depressing cities in the United States.

What is going on everyone welcome back to the World according to Briggs my name is Briggs, I travel, I make videos and I have never played with lawn darts responsibly. Really, that’s how my younger brother lost a nipple. Living without a nipple is depressing as you can imagine. Speaking of depression, did you know there are thousands of reasons a person can be considered depressed? One of those reasons is where you live. The environment, the people, the economy, the crime, and the weather are just some of the reasons a place can be considered depressing.

So how do you decide which city is the most depressing? Well, you analyze everything you can from the U.S. Census data including divorce, average income, and unemployment rates. Then you look at the weather, homeless rate, and how often people swipe right on my cousin's ex-wife tinder profile.
After that, you make an educated guess. And you come up with the most depressing cities.
And that is what today's videos are all about. So sit back, and relax, take a deep breath and watch my top 10 most depressing cities in America.

Thanks for stopping by. This has been a frequently requested video subject. The most depressing city seems to be very popular.

South Korea Is Angry | Nas Daily

600,000 people in South Korea held candles and demanded that their President step down -- without violence, weapons, or lives lost.

This was one of the more peaceful protests I've ever attended. My dream is for me to reach their level of anger and remain as calm and peaceful as these protestors :)

10 Most Depressing Cities in Europe

What are the most depressing cities to live in Europe? The idea that a part of Europe, the continent of great culture, exquisite fashion, delectable cuisine, and a history stretching back centuries can be depressing is almost inconceivable. Yet, there are some depressing cities on the continent. Let's take a look at the 10 most depressing cities in Europe. However, this list is not meant to portray any of those cities, their inhabitants, and the countries of their location in any bad light. It’s just for education and information purposes.
10. Pristina, Kosovo
We begin in this capital of Kosovo, a technically disputed area but believed to be a de facto autonomous nation in South-Eastern Europe. Kosovo announced its independence from Serbia in February 2008 following a series of frequent violent engagements that lasted many years. Despite strong Serbian resistance, the UN today recognizes Kosovo as a distinct entity known as the Republic of Kosovo.
But that independence is not without a huge price. Terrorism has become the order of the day in most parts of Kosovo, including its capital city of Pristina. That’s why visitors are hesitant to visit the city or anywhere near it. The threat of violent and extremism is getting greater in Kosovo. Pristina is certainly a depressing city.
9. Saravejo, Bosnia
Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is another one of the most depressing cities in Europe. Sarajevo is one of the most historically intriguing cities in Europe. It is historically unstable. Just as it is in the rest of Bosnia and Herzegovina, minefields, undetonated bombs, and explosive remnants from the Yugoslav wars are everywhere in Sarajevo and its surrounding suburbs. This poses a significant threat to the public.
Keep in mind that the places that have not been cleaned out are denoted by yellow caution tape or warning signs.
Pickpockets are a common sight in this city. They’re very active, especially on public transportation and in the city’s historic district. It’s a city with a history of ravaging war which makes it a depressing city.
8. Lodz, Poland
Lodz is Poland's third-largest city and a major industrial hub, with a population of 672,185 people. The city has long been known for its textile industry. The city of Lodz serves as the administrative center of the Lodzkie Voivodeship.
It’s listed among the most depressing cities in Europe due to issues relating to robbery, automobile theft, car break-ins, car snatchings, and vandalism as well as insults among other things. Bribery is a minor but noticeable issue in Lodz. A typical heist used by criminals is to work in gangs and create artificial crowds on public transportation such as buses and trams in order to divert their victims' attention before picking their pockets. Also, don’t leave your stuff unattended, and keep your eyes on your wallet when you’re not using it. Crime is what makes Lodz a miserable place to live.
7. Kouvola, Finland
Kouvola is a little town nestled between two major cities. It’s a little more than an hour to Helsinki and two hours to St. Petersburg. Even if you can view the majestic Pohjola building via the train glass, you won't be able to see any of Kouvola's 450 lakes or the River Kymijoki from the train window.
Kouvola is usually considered a safe city. Yet, it has a melancholy atmosphere because the people who live here are fairly cautious in their interactions with nature. Don't get me wrong, not everyone is like this, and you may come across folks who are upbeat and pleasant. But it does make the overall atmosphere a bit depressing most times.
