Most Isolated Homes Around The World

We have all thought about living in the middle of nowhere - a life with no nosy neighbours, no bin day battles and no noise... and for some plucky property owners, this is more than just wishful thinking.
Everyone can use some peace and quiet now and then. A camping trip or a weekend in a cabin in the woods can usually take care of that. Certain people would rather live on the fringes of society. Nothing sounds better to them than a house with no neighbors for miles in the middle of nowhere. For some people, this isn’t just a fantasy, but their actual lives. Check out out some of the most isolated homes from around the world. Isolated places aren’t built just for living in, so we’ll take a look at some other remote places as well

Most Extreme And Isolated Home In The World

In Iceland there is a small island a few miles from the coast called Ellidaey Island. Photographs surfaced on the internet a little while ago with a small dot that looked like a structure. People were immediately intrigued and started doing a little research on this lonely island. It turns out that the island was inhabited by 5 families over 300 years ago. The last permanent inhabitants left the island around 1930 and the only thing left was one single house. The families sustained themselves by hunting puffins, fishing, and raising cattle. There has been a lot of speculation as to who owns the house now. Many have said the island was given to singer Bjork as a gift. Or that a secret billionaire has purchased the island and now lives there. None of these are true. In fact, the house serves as a shelter for people who still hunt on the island today. Nobody lives there but it provides a safe haven for those who travel to the magical and solitary island. This looks like one of the loneliest places in the world. It looks like for a few weeks at a time this place would be paradise.

Finding the Most Secluded Cabin in Switzerland

Please like and subscribe if you enjoy my content. Find me:

E-Mail: marti3705@gmail.com

On this hike, I tried to get to the most secluded Cabin in the Alps. Day one shows me hiking the long way up to the cabin, day two is me summiting a nearby mountain. I was lucky to have spectacular views all the way to the cabin and the summit.

Reaching this cabin has definitely been my highlight this year. With this video, I am hoping to share some of the impressions and fantastic views that I managed to capture while hiking. Thanks for watching.

Concerning the whereabouts of this incredible cabin: I am not going to disclose this information here, out of respect for the builders and owners of this cabin. Thank you for your understanding!

15 Amazing Isolated Homes

Here are 15 amazing places built in shocking places! Beautiful architecture in the most secluded parts of the world it's insane!!!

7. Jarson Residence
This isolated desert paradise is, funnily enough, located in Paradise Valley, Arizona. It was built in 2007 for two real estate agents and their sons. The house was designed to be a “vessel of personal discovery” for the owners. Despite the modern appearance of the house, it is actually made out of weathered steel and copper so the house can blend in with the desert landscape. The house contains a gallery for the owner's art collection as well as a music chamber and potters studio.

6. Soleta ZeroEnergy
This picturesque home is perfect for the eco-minded introvert. Soleta ZeroEnergy One is a home prototype that was built in the company's home country of Romania. It was developed by the Justin Capra Foundation and it is run completely on clean energy. The house even has a feature that allows it to be controlled via smartphone. The home is affordable and versatile because it can be used as a single home, an office, or a vacation home. It is also made entirely from natural, locally sourced materials.

5. Cliff House
This crazy house has the very appropriate name of ‘Cliff House’. It's located in Victoria, Australia and it's got five stories that climb down the side of a cliff. It has three rooms, an elevator, and a spa. The house is suspended over the ocean by steel pins built into the cliff side. The house was designed by Modscape and it is completely one of a kind. Which isn’t really that surprising. A spokesperson from the company said that the design of the house was inspired by the way that barnacles cling to the side of a ship. The house is entered through a garage at the top of the cliff that descends to all of the floors of the house. This house shouldn’t be owned by anyone with a fear of heights but, that view is amazing.

4. Tubular House
This soup can shape house was built by the architect Richard Carbonnier so that he could live in the ice cold tundra of Baffin Island in Canada. The shape of the building was not only designed to withstand the winds but to also hold heat inside. Carbonnier has said that the building was made to do as little damage to the ground as possible because growth in the environment is very slow. He also explained that the building of the house was difficult because he would touch a tool and it would immediately freeze to his hand. Since the house cost just 260,000 to build and it is so ecologically friendly, he hopes that similar houses will be built in the near future.

3. Lake Muskoka Treehouse
Did you love The Swiss Family Robinson? Are you okay with living in a small amount of space? Well, then this treehouse is for you. It hangs in the trees around the bank of Lake Muskoka, Ontario. The house is thoughtfully built so that it doesn’t disrupt the growth of any of the surrounding trees or the trees it is built on. The house was built around the base of four existing trees. The architects of the house worked closely with arborists to preserve the trees supporting the house. In the end, the solution that they found was a single high strength steel cable hung from each tree to support the house. The single cable minimizes the impact on each individual tree and will not stunt the tree's growth.

2. The Crystal Mill
Built in 1892, this power plant sits above the Crystal River in Colorado. The house actually once functioned as a compressor station where a wind turbine was used to fuel an air compressor. The compressed air could have been used to power tools and other machinery. The mill closed down in 1917 along with the local mine but the picturesque quality of the mill has made it one of Colorado's most photographed sites. The mill is on the National Register of Historic Places and it has been there since 1985. You can only photograph it from afar, though. The house is privately owned and the owners don’t allow visitors. That’s probably a good choice because it looks like it would collapse whenever anyone steps foot in it.

1.Chess Pavilion
Welcome to the most dangerous game of Chess you will ever play. Mount Huashan is one of the five great mountains of China and it is also regarded to be the most dangerous hike ever. Much of the hike is done on a small ledge that can hang hundreds of feet in the air. Reinforcements have only been added recently because of the popularity it gained with tourists. The mountain has been considered holy since the second century BC and originally the ledge was just a series of wooden boards stuck along the side of the mountain with exposed nails. Because of all this, the mountain has gained a reputation for being deadly. If you reach the peak, though, you will be treated to this out of place Chess Pavilion with stunning views of the mountains that almost just killed you. Now you have to climb back down. Enjoy.

Norway's most remote Cabin - Off-grid tiny house Lyngstuva in the Lyngen Alps - North & Beyond Ep. 6

I made a winter hike to one of the most unique and remote cabin in Northern Norway. The old lighthouse keeper cabin Lyngstuva is located at the far end of the Lyngen Alps. This place is far away from any roads or houses, you will be all by your own. The cabin has no electricity or water connection.
It was build in 1922 to store the lamp oil for the lighthouse. In 1993 two guys from Berlin came and started to refurbish the almost broken-down cabin. You can stay in this cabin so long as you want without any costs.

12 Most Amazing Secluded Homes

Subscribe for weekly wacky videos and learn interesting facts about the world with awesome top 10 lists and other amazing videos.

10- Red Cottage – This beautiful isolated house sits on an island aptly named Just Room Enough Island. Part of the Thousand Islands chain of islands in Canada, Just Room Enough was bought in 1950s by the Sizeland family who wanted a unique place to build a holiday home. They built their house with the walls just reaching to the edge of the island and gave the island its special name. The plan backfired on the family who were looking to find a quiet retreat, and instead had to deal with tourists and sightseers stopping by to take a look at their unusual home.

9- Hermitage of San Colombano – Located in Italy between Vivenza and Rovereto, the Hermitage of San Colombano sits high on a mountainside looking down upon the city below. 120 meters up the cliff, it was clearly built to give its inhabitants a reprise from the hustle and bustle of the world below. It was built almost 700 years ago in 1319 and is named after the Irish saint Colombano. To gain entry to the structure you need to pass through the Leno gorge and then climb up 102 steep steps up the gorge. Every Christmas there is a candlelight walk up to the hermitage to signify the pilgrims climbing up the steps to pay respect to the saint.

8- Casa Malaparte - Casa Malaparte also known as Villa Malaparte, is located on Punta Massullo on the eastern side of Capri, Italy. Construction started in 1937 by well-known architect Adalberto Libera. The house is a red masonry box shape with stairs leading up to a fabulous roof patio. The house can only be reached by crossing the island on foot and takes about an hour and a half to walk there from the summit.

7- Villa Mecklin —Located in the Finnish Archipelago, Villa Mecklin is as picturesque and secluded as you can get. Built in a small depression in the natural rock, the villa was built using all basic materials. On one side looking past the structure you see the water and looking past it from the other side you see the land, surrounded by trees, exposed rocks and plenty of vegetation. The highlight of the house is the terrace, which is large and faces out toward the water for the view of a lifetime.

6- Stockholm, Sweden – Several miles away from Stockholm, Sweden there’s an incredible house that sits on the highest point of a small island stretching out just 137 square meters. The house is isolated and beautiful and includes a living room, guest room, a kitchen and glass doors leading out to a large deck, plus a sauna.

5- Katskhi Pillar – 130 feet above the hills of central Georgia sits Katskhi Pillar. Georgia adopted Christianity as the state religion in the 4th century and the Katskhi Pillar became the site of a small church built in the 7th century. It’s sole resident for the past 20 years has been a Georgian monk. A fun fact about the pillar – women aren’t permitted to climb to the top.

4- Artist Studio Fogo Island, Canada – Fogo Islanders are simple, independent people who live to fish and enjoy the serenity of the beautiful landscape around them. Located on the island are six artist studios built by the Shorefast Foundation. The idea behind the studios design is to create a geometric structure that would contrast the natural setting around them. The studios stand on pillars near the sea and each are isolated and can actually be moved to any part of the island.

3- Thatched hut, Panama – Looking more like a scene out of Gilligan’s Island, this small island with a thatch roofed hut is the epitome of peace and quiet. The pole style thatched roof hut is common in Panama and can house an entire family. Building materials are tree trunks for the main pillars, bamboo poles as support and different types of leaves for the roof. A well-made hut can usually stand for as long as 30 years.

2- The House on the Sea– Living in this house is definitely like stepping into the land of Robinson Crusoe. Just off the coast of Cornwall, England, The House on the Sea is situated right on the beach and can only be reached by climbing across a 90 foot high suspension bridge. Surrounded by water and isolated from the town, the tiny island is far from basic. The interiors are a luxurious mix of sleek neutrals and modern design, with panoramic sea views offered at every turn.

1- Holy Trinity Monastery – Located in central Greece, the Holy Trinity Monastery is the oldest among the six functioning monasteries located there – having been built in 1476. It sits atop a 1300 foot rock and years ago access could only be gained by climbing a rope ladder with just a net below. Today the entrance is reached by climbing 140 steps cut into the rock. It once held historical treasures, such as precious manuscripts, however, they were stolen during World War II.

Ellidaey - The most isolated house in the world

Welcome to the most isolated house in the world!

Perched on the beautiful island of Ellidaey, part of the Vestmannaeyjar archipelago south of Iceland, this house has a fascinating history that’s shrouded in mystery. The island is Ellidaey, and the image of the small, isolated house has given rise to a whole host of theories about who lives there.

It’s believed that five families lived here more than 300 years ago in huts and hunted puffins (birds), as well as raising cattle. However, it wasn’t to last. Life so far away from civilisation simply became too impractical and the families trickled away. By the 1930s the island was abandoned.

Tour companies operating in the Vestmannaejar peninsula offer day trips to this beautiful, wild location, but for the time being, the little white house, and the rest of the island remains unoccupied.

What Are Different Homes Like Around The World? | Show Me Where You Live Compilation

Phillipe is interested in how architecture can provide a glimpse into how people live all around the world. He travels to some of the most unique spots and culture on the planet to see what they have to offer. Starting in Tulous, China, which is located in the Fujian Provence in the southeast coast of China, and home to the Haka people. This mountainous region is home to a type of dwelling called the tulo, a fortress like structure with one entrance and few windows. He then heads to Iquitos, Peru, the largest city in the world with no road access, it can only be reached by boat or plane. With a large part of the cities homes built on stilts in the riverbanks, what is daily life like on the water?

The Remotest Off Grid House in England | Tibbett's Lookout - Lundy Island

Join me as I spend a challenging winter week living in England's most remote off-grid cabin/house.
This converted pre-World War One built British Admiralty Lookout and Signalling Station is located on Tibbetts Hill on the uninhabited North End of Lundy Island.
Lundy is semi-wild island and a Nature Reserve, located 20 minutes by helicopter or 3 hours by ship from the English mainland west coast.
The island is situated strategically between the Bristol Channel shipping lane and the Atlantic Ocean, making it of interest to the British Royal Navy during the 17th - early 20th Centuries, including during World War 1.
Tibbett's Admiralty Lookout on Lundy is a UK Grade Two Listed Building, and has been fully restored to its 1906 former self by The Landmark Trust, it is now a self contained tiny house, completely off grid and over 30km from the nearest mainland facilities.
In my House Tour I show that Tibbetts has no electricity, it is lit by victorian era gas lamps, and has a coal fire for heating. Despite this it is remarkably homely and comfortable and perfect for Off Grid Living

Today Lundy has just 25 permanent residents, all of whom live in the village on the south end of the island.
In this video I show how to live in comfort in this isolated off grid house, and during the week I explore some of the island's remote 19th century structures, and abandoned places such as the unmanned North Lighthouse built in 1898. I then have to shelter in place when the island is hit by a ferocious Atlantic storm for 24 hours, which delays my helicopter off the island.
