Most Dangerous Logging Trucks Climbing Mountain and Muddy Road - Awesome Driving Heavy Equipment

LOGGING TRUCK RIDE ALONG | Thrills in the stunning mountains of Canada

Join me on a logging truck ride along with my friend Pat in the beautiful mountains of the Kootenay region of British Columbia, Canada. On my ride along we go high into the mountains above Kootenay Lake and the truck the logs down the steep mountain roads, along the lake, and across the scenic ferry ride to the town of Creston, where we unload the logs. Logging truck driving is one of the most interesting trucking careers and Pat explains why. You'll see the kinds of roads the truckers need to drive on as well as how the logs are loaded and secured and some of the protocols for driving on these narrow dirt mountain roads. At the end, you'll see how the logs are unloaded at the mill.

Meadowlark Log Homes teams run against the clock to get the Pioneer 26x34 log home with loft pre-assembled, delivered to a high elevation location in Colorado and reassembled with a roof and windows and doors installed before Thanksgiving. Again, the crew is able to accomplish the schedule requested by the Customer. The location was difficult on a steep hill and access was limited but it all came together in the end and created another very happy family added to Meadowlark‘s Customers.

Meadowlark Log Homes designs and manufactures preassembled two story log homes and cabins such as the Pioneer model shown on this episode.

Hiking on the Appalachian Trail

Some hikers will soon begin an Appalachian Trail thru hike from Springer Mountain in about a month, so I thought I would upload a cut of all our AT footage from our last hike so folks could get a sense of the AT. We started our hike from Springer MT in later in the summer when the trail is less crowded, but folks beginning their hike around April will find many more fellow hikers on the trail. In 2012 CG and I took an extended backpacking trip on the Appalachian Trail. We began our hike near the southern end of the AT at Amicalola Falls in North Georgia, and we hiked for 2 months. Our backpacking trip ended just north of Roan Mountain, a few days shy of entering Virginia. We planned to hike 4 or 5 months, but considerations beyond the trail led us to cut the trip short. This is the footage we cobbled together during our hike. It’s not the highest quality footage, because we were uploading video to the internet as we hiked. Spending an extended period of time backpacking on the AT can be extremely rewarding, and even a transformative experience. It’s not glamorous, and sometimes it’s not easy, but it can be amazing. Since the early 1990’s, I’ve spent many seasons hiking on the trail, and it’s always the best decision I make.
