Kaysersberg one of France's most beautiful villages in Alsace-Lorraine [French medieval town]

An overview of the sights and sounds of historic Kaysersberg, Alsace Lorraine, France voted France's preferred village in 2017.

Alsace Lorraine is a beautiful region of France with lots of quaint medieval villages. The village of Kaysersberg is one of the most beautiful villages in France. It was actually selected as such by French people in a TV show. It has cobble stone streets and timbered houses. It looks like the village is straight out of a fairy tale. If you want to visit Kaysersberg, you should. If you are not sure what to see in Kaysersberg and what to do in Kaysersberg, things to see in Kaysersberg and things to do in Kaysersberg, this video was made for you. We don't go as far as showing where to stay in Kaysersberg and where to eat in Kaysersberg, but there are plenty of great restaurants in Kaysersberg to choose from.

There is also a very famous hotel in Kaysersberg called Le Chambard. This is the hotel where Anthony Bourdain died in 2018. It also has a great restaurant that you should try.

Enjoy!

THE MOST BEAUTIFUL TOWN IN FRANCE? | The medival town of Dinan

In todays vlog, we visit the breath taking medieval town of Dinan in Brittany, France.

As soon as we stepped off the train, we stepped back in time. It's quaint cobbled streets and leaning, timber houses complete with flower boxes makes the place seem like something out of a fairy tale. When we didn't think it could get any more beautiful, we stumbled across the Rance river. Wow, there were no words.

Andlau, France | A Visit to a Medieval French Town

Andlau, a lovely small town in Eastern France, is a wonderful place to visit and spend an hour or two wandering around.

The town, or commune, has been around for more than 1000 years and owes its existence to the Andlau Abbey in the center of the town.

It's most well-known for the delicious wine that's grown in the region and the Medieval features throughout the town also make it quite an interesting and picturesque place to visit.

Even though I visited Andlau in August there were hardly any other tourists around and I basically had the entire place to myself.

With a population of just under 2,000 people it's a very quiet and peaceful place and it's nice to visit if you're looking to escape the tourist crowds of the towns nearby that are much busier.

5 Most Charming Small Towns in France

Many travelers to France don’t stray far from the big cities like Paris and Lyon. They don’t know what they’re missing: Picture-postcard medieval villages with narrow cobblestone streets and city walls. They’re also missing out on charming towns where wine-making reigns supreme and a more traditional France can still be found. Even better, many small towns in France are often situated amid gorgeous scenery of both mountains and sea.

THE 7 MOST BEAUTIFUL AND UNDERRATED CITIES IN FRANCE

Utter the word ‘France’ and everyone immediately thinks of Paris and although we aren’t downplaying the importance of the city and how grand it is, we do happen to think there is more than just one city to visit in France. In fact this country is loaded with beautiful medieval cities bursting with culture, art and lively people. Whether you are looking for quiet accommodations, spectacular food or incredible architecture, here are seven of the most beautiful and underrated cities in France where you can find just that.

7 Most Beautiful Cities in France

Most beautiful cities in France

Le Puy-en-Velay
Albi
Dijon
Lyon
Nantes
Aix-en-Provence
Orleans

Albi

It is referred to as the jewel of the Midi-Pyrenees region and is one of the most attractive small cities in France. It has only recently begun to get recognized for its beauty and charming personality though and visitors will find that it is still quiet and unassuming. The medieval St. Cecilia’s cathedral is at the forefront of the remarkable medieval center, looking more like some array of medieval grain silos than a church. Insides it is one of the finest late gothic buildings in

Dijon

Yes we all have heard of this town, if only in reference to Dijon mustard but this former capital city of Burgundy offers visitors a lot more than that yellowish brown condiment. The city was once under the powerful and notorious Dukes and the Ducal Palace is certainly a sight to see, a collection of buildings all gold with painted ceilings, pomp and circumstance. The whole city is actually full of medieval and renaissance style buildings, making it one of the most appealing towns in the country. Dijon ranks high on the list in terms of fine wine, shopping and exceptional food. There are plenty of excellent accommodations, wine tours and streets to walk through. One thing is for certain when you visit this city, you certainly won’t be thirsty.

Lyon

Although it is France’s second largest city, it often loses out as a destination with visitors who use it as just an airport city. In fact this gracious historic city was once an important Roman settlement with a gastronomic reputation, second only to Paris. The historic quarter where visitors can wander the streets through 16th century secret passageways is not to be missed and is loaded with antique shops and bookstores. The range of museums to be visited here is truly unbelievable and visitors can even watch the first film ever made. One of the best times to visit this city is in December when the Festival of Lights takes place. The facades of buildings are covered in thousands of twinkling lights and are known throughout France for being one of the best. The real draw here for tourists should be the food, and throughout the city expect some of the best hearty meals you have ever had.

Nantes

It was once a mighty port that grew rich on the slave trade but now remains largely unvisited by tourists. This lively university town is in fact full of attractions and some incredible seafood restaurants. Visitors will want to head to the castle of the Dukes of Brittany with its cathedral housing the beautiful 1502 tomb of Francois II and the stunning botanical gardens, a castle turned museum that tells the story of the city and region. The former ship-building quarter is perhaps the most underrated portion of the city though. This is where the strange huge machines are made. Think a huge elephant strutting through the area with people riding on its back, a carousal where you sit in imaginary sea creatures and work their controls and a workshop that creates bizarre creations for worldwide destinations. This city is built for walking, through its gracious squares, past the grand houses and through the streets.

Aix-en-Provence

This is truly the ultimate Provencal city, with its majestic and aging fountains around every turn. Its leafy boulevards and public squares are lined with 17th and 18th century mansions with haughty stone lions standing guard. It is a city of art, light and activity; home to several universities and art schools. The center of this town is the old town and small enough to explore by foot, and make sure you pay a visit to the only 14th century tower that remains at the northwest corner of the town. The Cours Mirabeau is the beautiful tree-lined avenue bursting with terrace cafes and bookstores, and large trees providing much needed shade on hot summer days. Make sure to visit the many markets in this town, from the colorful flower market to the daily food market to the unique clothing market

Orleans

This is a city that has struggled to return to its former glory, after being devastated during World War II; and even before that the Romans, Attila the Hun and the English all tried to wipe it out. It has managed to retain some pretty fantastic historic buildings though and its connection with Joan of Arc makes it one of the most underrated and beautiful cities in France. Visitors should head to the tourist office when they reach Orleans as they have an itinerary designed for visitors that will allow you to see the main sites of interest in the city and appreciate the examples of renaissance architecture, Roman style cathedrals and various museums. Some of the best castles in France are located right outside the actual city and deserve a visit. Make sure to visit the House of Joan of Art, along with her statue as well as City Hall in which everyone in the city is required to be married and Hotel Groslot, one of the nicest buildings in Orleans.
