Moorea, the most fun island in French Polynesia! / What to see and do in a week? / Trip Summary
If you are visiting French Polynesia, you cannot miss Moorea, very close to Tahiti. It has a lot of activities combined with a great balance between remoteness and tourism. It's a perfect spot for nature lovers, as it offers great hiking, snorkelling and diving with colourful marine life. For those who want to learn about the Polynesian vibe, they can visit the Moorea Tiki Village.
We recommend to go outside of the resort life and discover it your own way (you should still go to Sofitel and Hilton Moorea for snorkelling...:) We will share how we spent a week in Moorea and the best things to do! We also did our PADI diving licence here that we strongly recommend! Thanks for watching!

This is a beach tour of the most beautiful beaches of Mo'orea Island, French Polynesia.
Ta’ahiamanu (Mareto) Beach is one of the few public access beaches on the island. This narrow stretch of white sand is a popular spot for both tourists and locals on weekends. Fear not, you’ll find plenty of room to stretch out without bumping anyone else’s beach towel. Despite the lack of facilities, it’s ideal for splashing about, sunbathing or picnicking. Snorkelers will find plenty of coral and marine life right in front of the beach.
Easily one of the most stunning lookout spots in Moorea. It’s most beautiful when the sun is shinning, as the colors of the water and reefs will looks the most beautiful.
Temae Beach - This peaceful locale features a white sandy beach & clear waters framed by lush hills & palm trees.
Nested on Mo’orea most spectacular islet (motu), surrounded by the clearest waters, Coco beach has been known by locals as the one place to catch up, relax and celebrate for the better the last two decades. The restaurant is located on a private island “Motu Tiahura”, North-West of the island of Mo’orea.

Moorea is a beautiful island located in the South Pacific Ocean, specifically in French Polynesia. It is part of the Society Islands archipelago, which includes other famous destinations like Tahiti and Bora Bora. Moorea is situated about 17 kilometres (10.5 miles) northwest of Tahiti and is easily accessible by a short ferry or plane ride.

Cost of Living In Moorea 2021
On your way to Moorea, you'll likely have to spend one night in Papeete, Tahiti. Your flight will land in Tahiti and unfortunately there probably won't be any more ferries or planes servicing the island. You'll need to wait until morning.
A night in Papeete can cost anywhere from $45-150 per night including accommodation (Airbnb or hotel - Airbnb will be cheaper) and a taxi. Ask your hotel or Airbnb host to set up a taxi for you.
We recommend staying near the ferry because you'll be able to walk to the ferry in the morning.
To get to Moorea, you can fly or take the ferry.
The flight will cost between $100-400. The ferry, on the other hand, will cost $11-15 one way. It will take 45 minutes to get to Moorea from Papeete on the ferry. We highly recommend taking the ferry over to Moorea because it's a lot easier.

Rental car on Moorea will cost approximately $1000 per month. Renting a scooter will cost around $700 per month. These will be more expensive if you rent them by the day or by the week.
Ebikes are also a fantastic way to discover Moorea. We recommend eBike Moorea. It will cost about $50 per day for one bike.

Hotel Review: Sofitel Ia Ora Beach Resort Moorea, French Polynesia
On our first trip to Moorea in 2018, we fell in love with the island, the people, the culture - it just fit our lifestyle so much. We spent a few days at the Sofitel Moorea and were ecstatic to return to paradise just a year and a half later.
The Sofitel Ia Ora Beach Resort in Moorea was kind of a let down the second time around. We had high expectations for what awaited us after an incredible journey the first time around. While the property was undergoing renovations, we noticed major lacks in service and facilities that made us question some of the decisions management had made. Listen in to learn more about what fell short!
Negatives aside, the Sofitel is situated on a pristine lagoon just 5 minutes from the ferry port, making it an incredibly easy property to get to. While the property lacks a fitness center, the oceanfront property caters to all water sports, like paddle boarding, swimming and scuba diving.
For the first night of our stay, we were booked into a Luxury Overwater Horizon View Bungalow, providing pristine views of the beautiful lagoon. The room was pretty much the exact same as the Luxury Overwater Bungalow, with the exception that the villa was located more to the end of the dock, allowing for a more expansive views of the lagoon.
The last two nights we spent in a Luxury Garden Bungalow, which has the same layout as the Luxury Overwater villas. Note that the floorplan of the standard overwater villas is different. The Garden Bungalow was nice - albeit there are more mosquitos since you are on land.
One of the issues we experienced on property was the fact that they cater mostly to locals, with brunches, events, weddings and other onsite activities that hotel guests are not invited to, unless they know about it. It was a bit disappointing to be turned away or wait in long lines.
