黄山 Mt Huangshan, China (Yellow Mountains) | Timelapse 8K

The sacred mountains of 黄山 Huangshan, China have been a magnet for emperors, artists and monks for centuries. Its dramatic landscapes and granite peaks has inspired numerous classic paintings and poems in Chinese culture.

As someone who has travelled and shot Yosemite extensively, I also refer to Huangshan as the Yosemite of China.

I travelled here during the winter and autumn seasons over the span of a year. The visuals were captured in 8K resolution. If you enjoyed it, please like, share and subscribe!

The Yellow Mountains of China

A 3-hour train ride from Shanghai lies the famous Yellow Mountains. The scenery is breathtaking, with misty peaks and lush greenery as far as the eye can see. I also visited nearby attractions such as the Xidi and Hongcun ancient villages, which were both charming and rich in history. A truly unforgettable experience that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting China.

Mount Huangshan - UNESCO World Heritage Site

Mount Huangshan is a beautiful and impressive UNESCO World Heritage site in southern China. Located outside the city of Huangshan, the name literally means Yellow Mountain, and it's one of the most famous mountains in China. It's been famous since the 8th century when it was renamed in honour of Huangdi, the Yellow Emperor, mythical ancestor of all Han Chinese. It's a supremely beautiful spot and we really enjoyed checking it out, despite the crazy amount of stairs!

Huangshan mountains, China. Aerial 360 video in 12K

Don't forget that this is 360 video: you can change the angle of view. In the eastern part of China, there is the Huangshan mountain range. These granite rocks date back millions of years! The glaciers have created their outlines and now the stone giants resemble fantastic images: animals, birds and even people. The name translates as Yellow Mountains: in honour of the legendary emperor Huang Di and the colour which was officially regarded as imperial.

YouTube does not support 12K 360 video yet, so the video was down-sampled from 12K to 8K. But still you need an extraordinary computer power for watching 8K 360° videos.

Nowadays you need extraordinary computer power for watching 8K 360° videos. If you have troubles with watching such videos, choose 4K or HD quality in the settings of your YouTube player. We hope that YouTube will find a solution for optimization this videoformat to make it watchable for common users.

Also here is the answer for a frequently asked question about true resolution of an 8K 360° video. Unlike standard videos, in a 360° video you can see only a part of original image (approximately 30 degrees out of 360). As result, the real resolution of the part you can see isn't bigger than 1.3K.

Yellow Mountain China - Huangshan the BEST route to take

If you are hiking yellow mountain China or Huangshan 黄山 for two days what's the best route ?
and what's best hotel to stay at?
Be aware Yellow Mountain is HUGE so if you plan to climb from the bottom be prepared for a 3 - 4 day trip.

★ SUBSCRIBE HERE:

Here is the route and hotel we chose, we went the same day arriving on high speed train from Shanghai to yellow mountain station.

1. Enter yellow mountain through the Yuping cable car entrance and take the cable car.
2. Short walk to Yupinglou hotel and stay the night, we heard this is the best hotel on the mountain and after arriving on the high speed train we were pretty tired.
3. Hike past Lotus peak to XiHai and try the funicular mountain train - we came back up again to avoid the 90 min walk back up the mountain.
4. Head to Guangming peak, this seems to be the most crowded part of the mountain and most people come here to see the sunrise.
5. Head back down to Yungu.
6. Take the Yungu cable car back down, this is the longest cable car in Asia, its pretty amazing.

In our other video we visited Hongcun village nearby which was the film set of Crouching Tiger hidden dragon, an AMAZING place.
