This video was filmed in early March from Abu Dhabi to Los Angeles. This is the longest flight in Etihad Airways network, with a flight time over 16 hours, flying as far North as 85 degrees, known as polar flight routing. Captain Bilal explained the Polar Flight operation and the critical timing of this ultra-long haul flight.
Besides the usual Etihad First Class Suite product and amenities, the chef also showed me how to cook a steak to perfection using the onboard oven. I enjoyed great dining and superb privacy in my First Class Suite.
After waking up from a nap, I saw the most incredible sights in the sky; our Etihad B777 was just 1,000 feet below an Emirates A380, also heading to LAX. We eventually flew past the Emirates A380, accompanied with some of the most spectacular air2air footage I have ever seen.
The $20,000 Residence on Etihad A380
There's nothing like The Residence in commercial air travel.
The Residence is above First Class; with a living room, separate bedroom and en-suite shower room, it is the only three-room suite on a commercial airline in the world. It is indeed the World's Premiere Flying Experience.
I hadn't flown The Residence in 2 years and I was very keen to re-live this fantastic experience, so I decided to dress up for the occasion. This flight was Etihad's inaugural A380 service from Abu Dhabi to Seoul Incheon.
On the return flight from Incheon to Abu Dhabi (next episode), I will be back in Economy to see the differences in travel experience on the same plane.

The Residence is completely out of this world within the field of luxury, commercial passenger aviation, far surpassing any first class service that you might care to mention. It is unique in so many ways from providing the only, true double bed in a public, commercial aviation setting within your cabin to the provision of your own personal butler whilst in The Residence lounge and also whilst up in the air, trained in the prestigious Savoy Hotel in London.
I take the inaugural flight from Abu Dhabi international airport to Incheon Airport in Seoul, South Korea at the invitation of Etihad Airways, celebrating the launch of this new route in The Residence. I will be making the return journey in economy class in my next video guys, so watch out for that one!

The Residence flying experience provides a home from home on the ground and then in the sky where any need or desire you could think of is expertly and carefully taken of. The Residence experience starts with being chauffeur driven in a luxury car (typically Audi, BMW or Mercedes) to the first class, VIP terminal of the airport where you are met by your personal luggage carrier, butler and chef.
Whilst waiting for your flight, you are housed in your own little palace with access to a spa (I opt to have an extremely relaxing and very nice and pleasant foot massage) and even a smoking room, lavishly decorated and stocked with the finest cigars, including Cuban, from around the world. Your own personal chef is on hand to deliver a Michelin Star level of dining experience, with each dish being hand crafted to your requirements and set in front of you with an explanation of each of the components of the dish before you begin eating. There are a wide variety of premium wines, spirits, beers and champagne to choose from.
Within your Residence lounge, there is a large, wall-mounted television and library. The Residence on the ground experience is absolutely sublime and a true masterpiece of comfort and service for the passenger.
At the gate to the aeroplane, I am met by the person who is to be my butler in the air. He introduces himself and up in the air, it’s clear that he cares – that’s what’s so great about Etihad Airway’s The Residence – the personal touch. They have researched my background before the day and present me with a number of aviation magazines to read and enjoy on the flight, as well as a framed photo of myself and a certificate to commemorate my travelling on this inaugural flight with Etihad in The Residence.
I am extremely impressed with the food I receive on the flight, with a delicious steak and chips being put before me as the main course and delicious little Asian sandwiches with succulent meat as a starter. I am also treated to Bellini Cipriani wine and a wonderful post-dinner digestif of Cellar 28 Remy Martin – greater opulence you couldn’t imagine, honestly!
After dinner, I can sprawl out on my double bed and watch TV in private, after taking a very relaxing and refreshing shower in my private bathroom on board. After sleeping, I rub my eyes to see my personal butler bringing a luxurious and mouth-watering breakfast of waffles and raspberries, served with champagne to get me in the mood to face a new day before we land.
Overall, I am once again bowled over by Etihad’s provision for me within The Residence class on board and I hold Etihad Airway’s The Residence in the highest regard. Etihad A380 First Class Apartment - World’s Best?
The king of the skies - A380 is back at Etihad. I sampled some of the finest First Class premium experiences onboard Etihad A380 from London to Abu Dhabi.
Etihad A380s were grounded and stored in Teruel, Spain. Earlier this year, the airline made an announcement that 4 of its A380 will be returning to service flying between London and Abu Dhabi. The Captain gave a thorough briefing of the flight and how the crew has to re-qualify to fly on the A380. Enjoy the takeoff footage from the cockpit.
Etihad has 9 First Class apartments in unique seating configurations. The best seat is window seat 4A and 4K with forward facing. During the flight, I sampled their First Class offerings of pajamas, amenities, food, and beverage including caviar and steak cooked to my liking. The ottoman can be converted into a flatbed while you still have space. This unconventional design makes the Etihad First Class apartment stand out. I was even offered a shower at 39,000 feet.
Before landing, I have an opportunity to visit The Residence which is a 3-room suite with your own living room, bathroom and bedroom. After the flight, I gave my full verdict on Etihad A380 First Class.

Join us for the most incredible, first class in-flight experience you will likely ever see, taken in absolute and astounding luxury from start to finish aboard the inaugural Etihad Airways flight from Abu Dhabi to Paris on board the A380 super jumbo jet in Etihad's The Residence suite.
The heavenly aviation luxury starts even before arrival at the airport, with Etihad’s tailored and exquisite VIP travel concierge and chauffer service to the airport in a sleek and professional looking saloon Audi.
When we arrive, the red carpet is well and truly rolled out for us as we are greeted by our very own, personal assistant at an exclusive and private entrance to Abu Dhabi airport and taken to the first class lounge and spa to await our flight – this is the Etihad airways residence on the ground. We don’t have to do a thing as a whole group of attendants fuss around us in the background, even collecting our luggage and bringing it in for us.
As we enter the Etihad airways first class lounge, we are greeted by our very own personal and professional butler (trained at the Savoy hotel, London) to facilitate our every need within the sumptuous and spacious home-from-home lounge area. Our butler outlines the fabulous food and drink available, including great and imaginative mocktails with aviation inspired names. Within the first class spa, we enjoy a professional French style shave (our destination was Paris after all!) before dining on artistic and extremely well presented food prepared by our own personal chef including one very tasty lobster!
To top it all off, and to round off the meal and relax us before departure, we enjoy a specially selected and curated cigar in our own dedicated and furnished smoking room, prepared and lit for us by our butler.
Already, we have been treated like royalty but this is only the beginning – now it’s time for the flight! After boarding the A380 and being warmly greeted by all the staff, we enjoy a tour of the whole aeroplane, taking in and briefly examining the Etihad economy and business class studio sections, as well as seeing the dedicated bar and food preparation areas. The abundant space of the Airbus A380 aeroplane affords even a very pleasant and enjoyable experience in economy class.
Once we’ve spoken with the Etihad airways pilots and seen the cockpit of the A380, it is finally time to be taken to our private, three room suite in the sky, the Etihad residence. It is an astonishing, self-contained unit with large sliding doors and split in to a luxurious lounge/living room area, private bathroom and bedroom.
The living room is complete with a full set of touch screen controls, mini bar and 32 inch television and it made for an extremely comfortable and pleasant environment to relax and also interact with the cabin crew.
We are able to get a great night’s sleep in our very own double bed, covered in specially made, luxurious Italian linen and the breakfast in bed, prepared by our very own in-flight personal chef and served by our personal butler, makes for a very pleasing start to the day before we take the opportunity to freshen up in our full size shower and slip in to a super soft, personally initialled bath robe!
Nothing is left to chance and everything you could think or dream of is taken care of – there’s even a professional shoe shining service available - the whole experience makes the journey an absolute joy and allows you to arrive at your destination fully refreshed and completely ready to conduct your business.
The Etihad residence is the only three room suite on board a commercial airline and can comfortably cater for an individual or a couple. Why Flying Ryanair Is Worth It????
Here’s why I choose to fly @ryanair????
People love to hate on Ryanair but honestly how can you complain about a €10 or €20 ticket? Even if they’re more expensive, let’s say €100, odds are their competitors will be at least 2 to 3 times more. There’s no way I am paying that much more for a free bottle of water and the ability to say I don’t fly Ryanair????????♂️ In most cases, I can add an extra legroom seat, a meal, airport priority, and still pay less than I would to fly their full-service competitors.
As someone who grew up in a secondary city, I am also really grateful for Ryanair because they opened up a ton of routes that wouldn’t have been operated by any other airlines. They, more than any other European airline, contribute to connecting this part of the world????????

Etihad Airways has always been celebrated as having one of the best first class in the sky following the airline's A380 launch. However, in the post-pandemic world of air travel, the carrier's excessively lavish A380 is replaced with a much more modest 787 equipped with its first generation first class suite.
Modest is a word to describe the cabin ambiance. But it does not preclude Etihad's 787 first class from offering sumptuous amenities with 2002 vintage champagne and ultra-exclusive lounge facility at Abu Dhabi.

6-Year-Old Genius Kid Becomes Etihad Airways Pilot for a Day
Six-year-old Adam has always been fascinated by planes and aviation. His dream is to become a Captain of an A380 Airbus. On board a flight from Morocco to Abu Dhabi, our Etihad Airways Cabin Crew noticed that the boy clearly wanted to fly the plane and was passionate about aircraft. They decided to create the opportunity of a lifetime for Adam, by inviting him into the cockpit.
The video went viral after Captain Samer Yakhlef managed to film some of Adam’s genius on his phone. The world was captivated.
We were so amazed by Adam when he came to talk to us in the cockpit, that we wanted to make his dreams a reality. Adam became an Etihad pilot for a day, and actually had the opportunity to fly his favourite aircraft in our Training Academy simulators.

Etihad First Class - Would You Fly Them?
My review of Etihad First Class from my recent flight on their 787 Dreamliner Abu Dhabi to Dulles. I had high expectations for this flight. The problems started when my first booked flight on their A380 Apartment AUH to JFK was grounded along with their entire A380 fleet, then canceling their First class cabin on the AUH to JFK route and downgrading my ticket to business.
I re-booked to fly into Washington Dulles IAD just to check out their First class cabin on their 787. I felt let down in some huge ways and I'll ask you this question: Is Etihad First Class still worth it? Check out my video and see!

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.” I was a teacher and Nate started a small printing business from the spare bedroom of our apartment. We discovered the world of “travel hacking” & became obsessed. So after 2 years of obsessively saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year” trip around the world. Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went home to “normal life.” We started this travel vlog to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with this lifestyle and did everything we could to keep going. 4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time. I flew around the world in 5 days in February of 2023, mostly on points and credits. This is leg 6 of my trip, flying on Etihad Airways flight EY 31 on Boeing 777-300ER in First Class from Abu Dhabi (AUH) to Paris, Charles De Gaulle (CDG). World's Best First Class | The Residence
This is the world’s best first class, Etihad The Residence. I’m actually on the very first flight back in service in over three years. Historically costing $20,000 I managed to book this as a paid upgrade from First Class for around £5,000 in total. It’s still very expensive, but for the level of privacy, and in comparison to private aviation, this is one of a kind and certainly worth a one off if you can afford it. Offered exclusively on the Airbus A380, Etihad used to provide a Savoy trained butler along with other personalisations such as custom menus, dressing gowns and even special requests like an autograph of your favourite celebrity placed next to your bed (in reference to OneMileAtATime’s experience). Flying ETIHAD FIRST CLASS during COVID?
I flew on this First Class flight for less than coach/economy?! This is Etihad's First Class, and could very well be the best First Class flying at the moment. Offering full service whilst many other airlines have cut back to offering next to no First Class service. Come with me on my journey today starting in Abu Dhabi and flying over to Geneva Switzerland. Also... I may have tried flying a plane for the first time in the United Arab Emirates.
I'll take you through the meals offered, the incredible bedding, super comfy pyjamas and amenity kit. Today I’m flying on both First Class and Business Class onboard Etihad’s 787 Dreamliner. Not seen before on YouTube, one person reviewing both products on the same flight! This should be an interesting one.
I’m flying for 15 hours from Abu Dhabi international airport over to New York City in the USA. Etihad recently announced their intention to discontinue their A380 and 777 which leaves just the 787 with their First Class product.
