Mexico City Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia

Mexico City – One of the financial powerhouses and cultural capitals of Latin America. Explore the colorful city here and start planning an adventure of your own!

Check out all the places we visited in this video:

When ready, browse vacation packages to Mexico City:

#MexicoCity welcomes visitors to its warm cultural heart. A #vacation here should feature the Centro Histórico district, where 1500 heritage buildings vie for your attention, including museums and galleries.

Head to Chapultepec Park, one of the largest urban parks in the world. Pay your respects to the Niños Heroes, a monument which honors the six boy soldiers who gave their lives defending Castillo de Chapultepec. Today, the castle serves as the National Museum of History. At Xochimilco, simply float away on a riot of color on the last of the city’s Aztec canals.

In the early 20th century the district’s artists, writers and intellectuals inspired not only Mexico, but the entire world. #Visit The Blue House, the birthplace of Frieda Kahlo, and the Museo Casa Estudio Diego Rivera y Frida Kahlo, where these two giants of Mexican art worked, lived and loved.

For now, we hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

CANCUN, MEXICO | 10 Best Things To Do in & Around Cancun

Cancun is located in the northeast on the Yucatán Peninsula, Mexico and borders the Caribbean Sea. It is known for its white sand beaches, turquoise sea, numerous resorts, and nightlife. In this video we’ll show you the top 10 things to do in and around Cancun.

10. Cancun Scenic Tower
Take a ride up to an altitude of 262 feet, or 80 meters.

9. Visit the downtown
The 9th best thing to do in Cancun is to visit the downtown area. Downtown Cancun offers a great taste of local culture, with delicious street food, small shops, and cute parks.

8. Swim at nearby cenotes
At number 8 we have a truly refreshing and unique experience: swimming in the nearby cenotes. The Yucatan Peninsula in general is well-known for its cenotes.

7. Relax at the Hotel Zone
The Hotel Zone is the primary tourist area, filled with high-rise hotels, shops, bars, and restaurants. It is a 15-mile, or 24 km strip of beautiful white-sand beaches and deep blue water.

6. Cancun nightlife
Most nightclubs are located in the Hotel Zone and can get pretty wild. Coco Bongo is the most popular club in Cancun, featuring acrobats, cover bands and DJs.

5. Explore “local” Playa Tortugas
Located along a more quiet part of the Hotel Zone, Playa Tortugas offers a more local experience, with a relaxed atmosphere and clean sands. It’s also better for swimming, as the water is calm.

4. Isla Mujeres Day Tour
The fourth best thing to do in Cancún is to go on a day trip to the nearby Isla Mujeres. Only a 20 minute boat ride from Cancun, Isla Mujeres is a peaceful paradise known for its white-sand beaches.

☑️Book Isla Mujeres Day Tour:

3. Hidden gem “Isla Blanca”
About 12.5miles or 20km north of the city of Cancún sits the stunning Isla Blanca. You can get here by local collectivo, which leaves near the Farmacia Canto, at the corner of Avenida López Portillo and Calle siete about 3 times a day.

2. Day trip to Chichén Itzá
A trip to Cancun isn’t complete without visiting one of the 7 World Wonders. Chichén Itzá is located about 3 hours away from Cancun by car or tour bus. It was once a vibrant city with a diverse population of Mayan people extending well into the tens of thousands.

☑️ Book Chichen Itzá Day Tour:

1. Dive/snorkel at Underwater Museum & Reef
Located only 30 minutes away from Cancún, this Underwater Museum is home to 500 life-size sculptures that are used to promote coral, algae, and other marine life.

The DON'Ts of Visiting Cancun

10 Things That Will SHOCK You about Mexico

We travel with a Microsoft Surface everywhere we go. I edit my videos on it & use it to backup my pictures and vides while we travel. It’s light and the best travel laptop on the market in my opinion.

We use Sony Alpha series cameras to film our videos. They are compact so you don’t look like a super tourist when you take great pictures and videos while you travel.

We use Manfrotto Tripods. They are compact, travel well, and honestly I would not use another tripod for my nice cameras.

Travel Plug that works in pretty much any country & has four USB ports. A must for any traveler.

Want to grab some great gear? We have used Osprey Packs for years & swear by them. Check them out here

Need some clothing for your next adventure? Patagonia has some pretty good stuff for all kinds of travelers.

Mexico Vacation Travel Video Guide

Travel video about destination Mexico.
Mexico, land of the Maya and Aztec, temples and beaches and with a population of twenty-six million the bubbling metropolis of Mexico City is a maze of streets, flat roofs, skyscrapers and parks. Earthquakes, floods and civil wars created this ‘City Of The Aztecs’. Templo Mayor, the main temple of the Aztecs, lies in the centre of the city, in the large main square, Zocalo. The magnificent Catedral Metropolitana with its massive dimensions and fine stone masonry dominates the square, with equal prominence being given to the Palacinio Nacional, governmental seat of the Mexican President. In 1519, when the Spanish conquerors reached Tenochtitlan, capital of the Aztec kingdom, they discovered a lagoon paradise with floating gardens, Xochimilco, a labyrinth of lakes and canals, which today can be explored by boat. Known as the Pearl Of The Pacific, Acapulco is a world famous holiday resort of the rich and famous where luxury liners dock each day and endless golden sands beckon a swim under the Caribbean sun. Each evening, the famous cliff jumpers of Acapulco congregate when, from a height of 42 metres, they jump fearlessly from the top of the La Quebrada Cliff into the narrow bay below. In the legendary ruins of Palenque, numerous monuments of the Maya culture can be found such as a palace, and several pyramids and temples. From the air, there is a unique view of the lush growth of the impenetrable forests around Palenque, and of Mexico’s most beautiful waterfalls of Agua Azul. Chichen Itza is thought to have been built by the Mayas around 450 AD and over 500 years later the fighting TOLTEKEN took over the deserted city, which led to two hundred years of prosperity. Located in the north, Tequila is situated at the foot of the likewise named volcano and is world famous because it is here that the Mexican national drink is produced. But Mexico is much more than a drink…it is a feast for all the senses!

Mexico City Vacation Travel Video Guide

Travel video about destination Mexico City in Mexico.
Mexico City is a vivid metropolis and cosmopolitan city situated on a plateau in the central highlands at an altitude of 2, 286 metres, where the food is spicy and the Tequila flows freely! The city's fascinating history is reflected in both its art and architecture with age old charm, Indian roots and elegant buildings.

Until the Spanish conquest, the Templo Mayor was the setting of coronations and human sacrifice. The remains of the walls within which thousands of priests once lived are only a few steps from the buildings of the country's former Spanish conquerors.

Construction of the country's largest cathedral, the Catedral Metropolitana, took 250 years. The lower section is quite plain but the upper section is of Baroque and Neo-Classical design. Spanish administrative buildings and private houses in the heart of the city have replaced the temples of ancient Mexico and has resulted in a synthesis of both old and new architectural styles.

An elevator ascends the Torre Latino America, an earthquake-proof tower that was built in 1958. A viewing platform provides a wonderful panoramic view that includes the Palacio de Bellas Artes and the Juárez Monument.

Located 50 kilometres from Mexico City are the ancient remains of Teotihuacan that was once a centre of trade, art and ritual ceremonies. At its zenith in 500 A.D., it was as large as Rome and its Sun Pyramid is one of the greatest building achievements of ancient times. In 1988 ,Unesco attributed this complex as being 'one of the most important cultural centres of mankind'.

The author Pablo Neruda once said: 'No other land on Earth possesses such remarkable human profoundness than Mexico and its inhabitants'. For surprises, sights and history galore, Mexico has to be at the top of the list!

Cenotes (Mexico) Vacation Travel Video Guide

Travel video about destination Cenotes in Mexico.
The dense jungle of the Yucatan in the south east of Mexico is a miracle of nature, a region in which the small amount of rain that falls quickly drains away into the limestone ground. Yet, overgrown by dense vegetation are the remains of an ancient civilisation. Sixty five million years ago a catastrophe of global dimensions transformed the appearance of Planet Earth. A meteorite measuring several kilometres crashed just off what is now the Yucatan and created a crater measuring a hundred and eighty kilometres. Today, within the jungle, this same area contains various entrances into an underwater world, the Cenotes Cave System. The name Cenote is derived from the Mayan word, ‘TS´ONOT’, ’sacred spring’. That is what the Mayan people called the countless small water holes of the region. Experienced cave divers and archaeologists have explored the endless labyrinth and more than five hundred kilometres of the ground water flows of the Yucatan have now been mapped. But this represents only a tiny section of the largest flooded cave system on our planet. The Mayan cities now lie abandoned and most of their myths, long forgotten. But the underworld of the Cenotes has survived and continues to wait for new discoveries to be found from within its tantalising Depths.

Lagunas De Montebello (Mexico) Vacation Travel Video Guide

Travel video about destination Lagunas de Montebello in Mexico.
Along the border between Mexico and Guatemala in the southern state of Chiapas is a hidden and precious treasure, the Lagunas De Montebello where both in and out of the clear, glittering water of its various lakes is a unique and truly fascinating world.Compared to the northern part of the country, the dense rain forests of Chiapas have remained free from human interference thus today its scenery and plant life have remained as they were many thousands of years ago.Close to the park archaeologists discovered the ancient remains of the old Mayan town of Chinkultic but over the years the encroaching jungle has covered the traces of this former culture and almost erased it forever. The water of the Bosque Azul is as mysterious as the nearby caves in which the daylight illuminates the darkness through narrow fissures. It is not known if these caves existed in Mayan times or if they had already been discovered by Prehistoric Man.However, there is no doubt about the very real beauty of the Lagunas De Montebello National Park and its fifty-two beautiful lakes.

The ruins of the ancient Mexican capital, Teotihuacan, remain a mystery to scientists to the present day. Little is known about the former historic rise and fall of this first major city on the American continent. During its heyday, Teotihuacan extended over an area of more than 20 square kilometres and ruled over a city-state that was larger than that of Ancient Rome.

It is believed that the origins of this impressive city date back as far as the 2nd century BC.

Four large platforms surround the Citadel, the administrative centre of the city. On the opposite side is the magnificent and impressive Quetzalcoatl Temple, which is adorned with several reliefs.

The huge towering The Pyramid of the Sun is one of the main landmarks. Overawed by the magnificent structure, the Aztecs described it as, 'The place where one becomes god' - and it is indeed a magnificent and fascinating sight to behold.
